Well, never again, let me tell you!
All started fine, even if a little reluctantly on my part since I don't like generally talking to people I've never met. Friend assured me the guy was great, "perfect for me" - handsome, intelligent...etc. So ok, they give me his number after he expressed an interest. We start texting, all very casual.
Well, turns out he has the personality of a wet sponge. "Hi sweetheart, I'm having dinner". "Hi, I'm bored". "You at work?". Nothing remotely exciting, funny, no potential for interesting conversation at all. Whenever or whatever I reply, he texts back "Cool", or "Ok". I tried!
Argh...I'm feeling a little hurt my friends even thought we'd get on tbh! lol
Any fun stories? Horrific blind dates? Come on...I need a laugh.

Nothing funny to add I'm afraid, but I have to agree I'd be gutted if my friends thought I had as much conversational skill as he seems to have!0

Have you actually met? OR spoken? Hard to judge a man by text, I'd have thought....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Yea tbh he might be lovely in R/L :-) Texting doesn't mean anything.
Tbh I used to love texting having little coversations but then my phone broke and I have a crappy thing that takes 2min to write out a simple text... you just don't know unless you try!
My Oh is lucky to get more then three word reply off me now lol.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
DH and I met through a mutual work contact/acquaintance.
He didn't think we'd hit it off but DH insisted he introduce us.
DH was obviously right.0 -
No, we haven't met, and tbh I'm not really keen to now! He's seriously dull, and I think it would show even by text if he wasn't. It's very easy to be a little funny by text - I'm not talking belly laughs, but come on...Unfunny is a huge deal breaker for me! I don't know, maybe I'm too harsh.

Text is just a completely unnatural medium of communication for some. I absolutely detest it. I hate fiddling with the old style telephone keypads (I know qwerty is now available) I hate predictive text I hate the way people will attempt to continue an argument by text. From your examples, this guy comes across by text better than ever I would.
I would say that if you have never spoken to the guy face to face, you are in no position to draw any conclusion about his personality - you can only judge his texting capability.
If you are only looking for a relationship with someone who comes across well by text, then I would say that you are the one who has limitations. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
Seriously, I don't think you can fairly assess a stranger by text. If I had based my judgement of my now DH on his phone conversation skills, I would have run a mile. Even now I don't bother ringing if I am away, lol.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

I was once set up by my mum with a lad who decided his opening gambit would be to tell me he'd been banned from his local for sleeping with the landlords wife
Not entirely sure where he expected the evening to go after that revelation.
On a side note I was kind of set up with my hubby.
I already knew him as part of a large group of friends but didn't know he had feelings for me. Then my housemates boyfriend let it slip by accident!Kate short for Bob.

Thanks!
I have plenty of limitations. I'm not desperate though, and if someone doesn't sound right, even through text, well - shoot me, but I won't want to pursue it. 0 -
My brother and his now partner were got together by mutual friends - 'blind date' last June, their daughter was born last month!
So sometimes it can work out!!0
