Nice idea, but it won't work as Powerhouse ceased trading a few months after I bought the kettle

Keep hold of the receipt.
Leave it about a week, then you can take back the faulty one
(or do I mean the new one !!!)0 -

The element is concealed within the base, and appears to be welded / glued to the base of the section which fills with water when in use. Therefore, I can't just fit a new element. We did do this many years ago with an old traditional kettle (maybe a Russel Hobbs).

It is almost impossible to buy any electrical item that isn't made in China these days..

Tefail have offered the following:
1. return product to point of purchase (contract remains with retailer)
2. contact any local electrical repair agent speak to Tefal authorised service dealer.
3. possibility fo offering you a new product at a reduced price.
I phoned, and they offered at Tefal Vitesse in Brushed Stainless for £19.79 including delivery, or a Vitesse S (white plastic) for the same amount.
I think I'll probably do better in our local Robert Dyas store.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a reliable kettle?

I had the same problem with my zanussi dishwasher which is just under 2 years old. The thermostat has gone and it's going to cost me best part of £100 to fix it. I contacted zanussi and they say then cannot help! I have decided to purchase a new one rather than throw good money after bad0

I have had a Morphy Richards filtermaster for 10 years and it is still going strong. We bought a sainsburys basic kettle for work for £4.99 2 years ago and that is still going strong as well. hope that helps.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
