  • I have just had the gas inspector from Dyson around and he told me that I would get and Ideal Logic boiler I know nothing about boilers, but originally I was told it would be a Worcester Bosch or Vailence (sorry not sure of the spelling) I was happy with either of these, but not sure about an Ideal Logic especially after reading post on here.

Can anyone advise if these are good boilers, the inspector said they have a longer warranty and are good boilers, but then I suppose he would.

My Mum has a Dyson inspector coming on Thursday this week. I'm going to be there to quiz him in case he says the same,as there seems to be a couple of posts now where they are saying they will fit these ideal logic boilers and the reviews seem poor.

Has anyone had a boiler through Dyson that was a Worcester or Valiant one? As these seems to be the better ones that are going to be more reliable in the long run from what I have read up on.

The EON form filled in is the only one that has triggered an inspection from anyone.

Help link - No response at all back from completing the forms a couple of weeks ago.
Southern Electric - No response at all again after completing the forms.

Have just filled out the BG form online as well for her.

Hello @tillycat123 I'm sorry you haven't received a reply after completing one of our forms. I've checked with the team responsible for this process and they have let me know that they attempt 3 call backs and then send an email reply if they can't get through.

We did have a backlog of enquiries however the last few emails were sent yesterday so I hope this included a reply to yourself.

If you haven't had any contact from us and you'd like me to investigate this for you please contact me directly using the email address on our profile. I hope this information helps.

    Many thanks,

    Simon.

Many thanks Simon from Southern Electric, email sent to you.

Simon from Southern Electric did have someone call my Mum yesterday who went through all her benefits over the phone. However they said she now probably wont hear anything else as to the next stage for up to 6 weeks!
  • I too have had a bad experience with Dyson Energy Services - I have no heating or hot water for over 3 months as my boiler was unrepairable and condemned. After finding I qualified under the scheme and having the relevant surveys I was told by Dyson that they were so fully booked they could not fit a new boiler in the near furture.

I contacted EON and had a real rant as not only have I not had hot water I also have a condition that requires me to bathe in hot water to ease the symptoms. EON in this instance were fantastic and contacted Dyson who in less than an hour miraculously contacted me to inform me of a cancellation and they would install my boiler in 6 weeks. Brilliant I knew it was on its way so could look forward to it.

I was then hit with a bill for extra pipes etc just under £400.. I borrowed and scraped the money together as I still felt that I was gaining as I just didnt have £2000 to put a boiler in myself.

My appointment was brought forward 2 days so was happy, then the night before I received a phone call saying they were going to be late and would arrive about lunchtime, I was fine with this. Just excited. Having to travel over 20 miles to my nearest relative and paying to use the showers at the swimming pool for the last 3 months has been so expensive and having kids too you just don't realise how valuable hot water is.

However, the day finally arrived Dyson were coming to fit my boiler, I had my washing machine and all surrounding items removed so they could gain access as they required as they do not do this for people even disabled ones !.

This day went from bad to worse, the first engineer turned up with no tools and not even a pipe to drain down my old boiler. So he disappeared. The 2 other engineers turned up in another van had a look and said they had not got the right parts and blamed this on the surveyor not doing his job correctly. They needed a pipe to connect a copper pipe to a plastic one. They then said they could not complete the job and would have rebook it when they had the parts. I was soooo angry, could they have not popped to the local plumb centre or installed the boiler and popped back the next day to connect this pipe.

NO that would be to straight forward and simple so I am nearly £400 down and still no closer to having a boiler fitted. I have contacted Dyson again today who said they cannot come out until the first week in september another 2 and a half weeks as they have staffing problems. My response to that was they should not take on work that they cannot fulfill. I contacted EON again and this time they were not much help and just said that Dyson manage their own diary but they did ring Dyson who told them they were juggling appointments. A different story to what they told me so it looks like I will have to wait and in the meantime find someone to plumb my appliances back in so I can at least wash my clothes. NOT happy at all with Dyson energy service - shocking customer service - lack of communication and bad management.

Lets just hope they can juggle appointments as 2 and half weeks may not sound long but it is when you have not had hot water for over 3 months.

    Hi MissMLV999

I'm really sorry you've had and continue to have such a poor experience with your boiler replacement.

If you drop an email with your details to the address in my Profile, I'll be happy to talk to our Affordable Warmth guys and see what's been going on.

Can't promise to change anything, as Dyson are an independent company who we contract out work to, but happy to have a look for you.

Aargh, just spent fifteen minutes writing a post and it's disappeared!

Anyway, there is another thread on here about the Affordable Warmth Scheme that can be found here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4689703.

I would advise anyone who is having problems with this scheme to contact their local MP and make them aware as it is a Government backed scheme.

My posts can be viewed on the other thread but I'm sorry I ever got a boiler installed by British Gas under the Affordable Warmth Scheme. :(

Hi, What make boiler did they fit in your house? I tried to get on the free boiler scheme, i was eligable for one but later cancelled, reasons were dyson came over twice took loads of photos of my house, boilers, meter cupboards, and of my personal details, ie photos of my benefit letters, mortgage letter and lots more. I found out that they only fit ideal logic boilers which are very unreliable, also they would have to cut a big hole in my kitchen and wouldnt be able to brick match so would just fill up the hole and that any damage they make in your home they are not responsible for. I am going to apply again through british gas who have said they wouldnt touch ideal logic boilers with a barge pole. So hopefully they can fit another well known make, otherwise i will keep my old boiler only 2 breakdowns in 20yrs.
I would recommend that you make sure before agreeing to anything what boiler they will fit and make sure that you get that in writing!

I was told by an EON man that as far as he was aware they fit Worcester Bosch boilers. Worcester Bosch I would be interested in but most other rubbish I would not. Vaillant are fairly decent but some have some minor issues, my mothers failed after a few years and cost about £90 to repair which didn't seem a high price. At the end of the day, your old boiler is almost certain to be more reliable even if less efficient and won't have the problems that newer boilers have. New combi boilers won't heat hot water unless the heating system is pressurized, fail if the condensate pile freezes up, have high spare part prices and parts which are designed to fail. Boiler makers make their money on spare parts more than the initial boiler sale.

Contact your local MP, that's what I've done. I've only had no hot water or heating for 10 days since British Gas installed a new condensing boiler which flooded my property! Prior to that I had a 12 year old Worcester Boiler that was working perfectly well. Wish I had just stuck with that.

Also, your contract is with EON not the subcontractors.
