Poppy have you tried the positions on spinningbabies.com someone on here recommended them.

Yes I had a look at that site, thanks. I found the website a bit confusing to be honest! Also since baby isn't breech I don't want to do anything too dramatic, I'm scared of turning it the wrong way and ending up breech!!

I've just taken my midwife's advice to make sure I don't slouch and sit in a UFO position - Upright, forwards (leaning) and Open (legs). Also read that hip rotations on a bouncy gym ball can help.

Hi again! Lobey, I loved my TENS machine during labour. My contractions started on Friday and I didn't go into hospital till 11.30pm on Saturday when my waters broke, so the only pain relief I used was the TENS. T be honest I'm not sure how it'd have been without it, but the couple of times I took it off I quickly asked DH to reattach. I'm not sure if it was just the feeling of having some control but I'd definitely use it again.

The other thing that helped me get through the early labour at home was sitting in the bath whilst OH ran warm water from the shower down my back. I had almost complete pain relief doing this but he did find it tiring. I didn't care though!

Thanks no angel, you've convinced me! I'm aiming for a water birth but I know the TENS is good for the bit when you're at home before you go in. That model looks fairly unconfusibg to use too which is a bonus! Hope you're enjoying the sunshine with your little one.
  • feeling like baby is kicking me in the noo-noo and ribs at the same time! hurrah!

Poppy - at pregnancy yoga they suggest being on all fours and moving backward and forwards. Also moving your hips in a pear-shaped circle whilst on all fours is supposed to be good.

Massive, massive congrats on your new baby noangel : ) You made it to September as well : )

So the leak thing seems to be common. Yuk I wonder what causes it. I'm 36 weeks for those who asked so I'm not too close to giving birth but close enough I guess! Thought I was going to birth centre tonight for a look round but got it wrong - it's tomorrow. We were nearly out of door by time I read my notes just to double check!

I don't think I want to go there now. The midwife kind of asked me as I was being checked over by a trainee last appointment and I didn't know as we have never discussed it, I was just given a pamphlet at 8 weeks of pregnancy which I never read as it was so early. I didn't realise that pamphlet was the basis of my decision and thought it would be discussed - pros and cons wise closer to time. So when she asked and I didn't know she just said go to birth centre eh..your low risk. So I went with it.

However I discovered last night that whilst it is attached to a hospital the hospital itself has no delivery suite at all so if anything went wrong I'd have to be blue lighted to the next hospital 20 mins away. I can see why my mum was having a benny over it now! Not keen being that I haven't had a baby before.

Hope your all feeling well. I've had a big day of shopping with mum. I had cancelled as I woke up dizzy and fell over (missed the wall which I tried to grab) but forced myself to eat and I think it's my blood sugar as I came round. Haven't been eating much as my squashed stomach gets filled so quickly so that must be what is causing dizziness on and off.

As always mum treat me - got a beautiful blanket (yet another!) and some storage boxes from Ikea to go in new fitted wardrobes. I need to get my mum a truly amazing birthday present she spends way too much on me

Bangton - I think the difference between them is that the birthing centre is a home-away-from-home, they get Mums to try to deliver as naturally as possible and make you feel really relaxed and comfortable. They don't offer any epidurals, forceps or anything. However, they can normally tell quite early whether your having difficulties and need to be transferred. We looked round the one at Cossham in Bristol and it's so lovely. Double beds and a birthing pool in each room, dedicated midwife none of this loads of people coming and going. I would have a look round before making a definite decision. This is our first baby too and I need sign off from my consultant to go there, but I'm going to push for it as the idea of someone making me strap to a bed in a hospital environment and treated like a piece of meat is much more terrifying to me than possibility of blues and twos :)

Your right of course - I defo won't write it off till I have seen it just worries me that the next hospital is a bit of a distance away should the pain prove too much or a problem occurs. Lots of birthing centres are within hospital grounds which I'd be entirely comfortable with - it's just that 20 min journey if baby wasn't ok.

Truth be told I know some women really have a specific plan as to where they give birth but I guess when I think of having baby I'm in a hospital in my own mind and I'm ok with that. So long as my baby gets here safely. But if it can be a nice experience I'll give it a shot. I guess I'm nonplussed hence getting to 36 weeks with no research!
  • I've just bought this angelcare monitor with the kiddicare pricematch and quidco cahsback - so about £100 for video, sound and movement.

Just watched the midwives, agree it is a lot more pleasant to watch than OBEM. That dad who wanted his wife to have a completely natural birth was really irritating me though, seemed to think he knew it all. Saying that i think he was just supporting what his wife wanted as well.

A friend has had a gorgeous baby boy today, so happy for her abd hubby but it means its my turn next eeek! Midwife tomorrow, assume it'll just be the usual pee check, blood pressure, feel tummy?
