i remember when dd was born ds who was 4 "bought her"a big shiney fire engine
now same dd is expecting her first(and our first g/son soon)i bought her a silver st christopher for after the happy event, not to mention half of mothercare0 -
We're expecting our first in the next 2 weeks! Eeek.
For me I would love to get my hair done properly, get my nails done, and be generally pampered. I've never really enjoyed going to spas and would feel even more uncomfortable while pregnant (but your OH might like spending a day at the spa) so if you have a mobile hair or nail technician in your area that could be a really nice pre labour appreciation gift. Honestly she probably feels about as sexy as an elephant right now  and while expensive trinkets are nice they wont do much for her ego!
A hamper of beauty treats, chocolate, etc could be nice too.
From baby...hmm...some sort of baby keepsake. One of those photo frames with a picture for each month of the first year, or some sort of album she can add to as time goes on. I like the hand print and foot print idea too.
If I could have anything right now it would be a big cup of ice...mmm! :rotfl::eek:0 -
http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/greenriverstudio/product/petal-triplet-cluster-hand-footprint-necklace is the necklace I got done recently (I needed the two teardrops as I have one child's print on each one)... love it - there were other places that did things much more cheaply but I really liked the style and engraving on this one.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

My partner bought me a pandora with a little bead in the shape of a pram when we reached 12 weeks then a bead with our sons initial when he was born. It was lovely.0

Prsonally I would be offended if my husband thought he was doing me some sort of favour by attending to his own child.0 -
Thanks for all your help folks!!
Sooooooooo many ideas, grateful for all of them, thanks again0 -
Gte her a fantastic baby sling - it will benefit you both because she will be comfortable taking the baby out in public, and breastfeeding etc, and you wont be all cooped up inside getting angry at life!
slings also keep the baby close to mum's heartbeat which is critical in the early phase. the more heart beat, the happier the child in later life.0 -
My husband organised for there to be a lovely selection of smelly cheese and a bottle of champagne for when I got home
Along with soft-scrambled eggs, it was perfect.
Other Mums might appreciate pate or similar - whatever her fav food/drinks are that she hasn't been able to eat for the last 9 months.Mortgage when started: £330,995
