If your mum has moved out, can't you get someone to replace her (and ehr share of the rent?) Failing that, why not ask the landlord to re rent out just the part your mum had?
Otherwise, speak to your mum - it is her moving out that is causing you issues, so I would have thought she would have been able to help.
Failing that, look for a house share / flat share?0 -
You still do not have to move out, this will clearly cause problems for your mother and her landlord but you can just stay and wait for a court eviction.

i know, but what im trying to say is, the council can be very helpful, especially if you are going to be homeless. they might be able to offer them a room in a hostel or similar which would be better than being out on the streets as it looks like op has no where else to go.**Waiting for a BIG win!**

due to changes in housing Benifit and your ages you will only be entitled to finance for a shared room.
This rule only applies to single people under 35. Couples are entitled to LHA at the one bedroom rate regardless of their ages.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

We may have found a 2 bedroom house thanks to the great help of an estate agents.
Do housing allowance allow you to move into a 2 bedroom house with only a couple living there, topping up the rent yourself to cover the council bedroom tax rule, or is the rule you can not simply move into a house with more bedrooms than what you need?0 -
If I was you (and I work in Homeless/Housing Asso field) I would approach your Local Authority and advise them of your situation asap. They might have contacts with landlords who are private but do not need you to have any references.
No Council/HA will do references for you but if you go through that route sometimes the advice is invaluable.

If you get a two bed for the LHA of a one - lucky you.

The maximum LHA rate is for a one-bedroomed property. If you decide to rent one with more than one bedroom you will have to finance the difference yourselves.
To be honest, I would advise caution in renting a property too far above your joint LHA rate. What neither of you want is for your relationship to end and the person left behind having to face that sort of short-fall on JSA. One only has to read a few threads over on the other part of the forum to read horror stories of what can happen to perfectly nice people on joint-tenancies when their relationships come to an end. And that's people who are in work!0
