Have applied for an offset this morning.

The illustrations i was given were an eye opener! I can be mortgage neutral in 8 yrs based on money I know will be coming to me over the next three years. If I can save extra, then that can be reduced to 6 years, which would be amazing :T

I know that there is "many a slip" but this seems extremely doable. Even if i have to use the lump sums for other things which is the worst case scenario, the mortgage is a thing of the past before I turn 60, which was my original goal.

I'm so glad I found this forum and the inspirational diaries :)

Back from holiday, we went to Portugal for Christmas, very nice and weather was pleasant. Felt a bit strange to be sitting outside eating lunch in December :)

In MSE news, the Building Society valuer visited this morning, so fingers crossed the value will be sufficient for the mortgage to go ahead.

Tilly Tidy of 58p this morning as most of my bills left my account.

Back to work tomorrow and working over the weekend.

    Happy New Year!

Mortgage now stands at £117,324.46. I will not see £118,000 again :)

Bit of a spendy day, although I will claim it all back, as I've had to buy a train ticket for a work trip next week, and book a hotel. Went through TCB for the hotel, and got £8.50 back.

Received my offset mortgage offer today :)

Tilly Tidy of 50p this morning.

Stayed in the hotel last night that I booked last week, and according to my receipt they have charged me £12 less than the booking was on the website. I'm now confused and will have to look at my CC statement, so I know what to claim back from my employer.

Not much has been happening, I'm waiting for my new mortgage to start, should be next month. I'm excited about starting my offset :)

Made Tilly Tidies throughout January into the holiday fund, it really is a painless way to slowly increase the amount in an account.

Mortgage is a few pounds under the £117,000 mark, unfortunately the interest that will be added tomorrow will push it back over :(

Work has kept me really busy this month, and March is shaping up to be equally manic. Despite extra cash spending as I haven't been at home, I have managed to remain on track, as grocery shopping decreased.

Offset mortgage is due to begin on Monday. Hopefully Internet bank details will not be far behind, as I do like to be able to see exactly what I owe.

Tilly Tidies have mounted up over the month, I have added £6.75 to the holiday fund.

    Nothing is simple!

Last week I logged onto my online banking to cancel the mortgage DD, it wasn't in the list, so I went into my local branch to double check. I explained the situation to the member of staff who checked my account, no mortgage DD was listed. Logged on this morning, guess what, payment scheduled to leave my account tomorrow .

Of course, it is Sunday so I can't speak to anyone.

hope you manage to get the DD sorted.

Be interested to hear how your offset pans out. If we take your £30k savings/offset out of the equation, our mortgages are at very similar levels.

I've managed to get my DD returned, it only took a week. Funny how money can leave your account instantly, but returning it seems to have to take that much longer.

Been working away from home again, which means I have spent money every day.

So I have noticed an unauthorised visa debit payment has left my account

A dispute has been raised and I have asked for the card to be cancelled and a new one with a new number to be issued. Sometimes it seems like it is one hassle after another.
