Can I get a refund on my tickets?

I recently bought 2 tickets for a gig at a specific venue. It was announced today that the gig has been cancelled. Now I've emailed the company for a refund. However, there is talk of the event being moved to a different venue instead as the artist still wants to do the gig. Am I still entitled to a refund if there is a change of venue? Thanks.

Yes. You paid for one thing and are now being offered something different. My farts hospitalize small children0 -
You are entitled to a full refund, but not for any consequential costs such as hotels you may have booked, or train tickets you may have boughtOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

why not for consequential loss?0 -
Because they are separate transactions over which the promoter has no control or responsibility. (And they probably deny liability of such losses as part of the gig ticket T&Cs). This is why you buy travel insurance or even specialist insurance, to cover such consequential losses.0

It is most likely the ticket company will email you with instructions telling you how to transfer or cancel your tickets. You are entitled to a refund.
They won't pay consequential losses because it's not their fault you booked things already. I'm not saying don't book in advance because it's usually cheapest just be cautious.Hi. isnt it reasonably forseeable that people will suffer losses if they have to move venue
isnt that why THEY buy insurance?0 -

We have procedures to email all if we cancel/change something, and will offer either refund or exchange.
It's also correct that we won't pay consequential losses, and this is explicitly excluded on the 27 lingual websites we hold, translated into each of the languages.
We are one of the larger operators (180-ish vehicles). If this is a small operator, you may have a fight on your hands.

But just because the event is cancelled doesn't mean people can't still use their train ticket/hotel/etc so they've not really lost out.
You buy something with no cancellation clause and it's your own risk!Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards.
