When I was 16 (1978) I went to work in a resort hotel as a kitchen porter for the Summer. Great times, somewhere to sleep, loads to eat and as I looked older than 16 to drink as well. Is this kind of thing even possible now? Oh and there was girls as well!!!!!0

DD doesn't come out of her bedroom now so I don't expect to see her until the end of August. I do occasionally check in the pit of doom to see if she's been crushed by a pile of falling clothes or suffocated by the smell of her unwashed bed linen. I'm not sure whether it's a good or bad thing that she is not at all acquisitive and therefore doesn't see the need to work or earn money in order to buy stuff. Talking to her friends' mothers she is not unusual.
This sounds like my DD, except she also has the dog in there with her, she is learning to play mouth -organ, he is learning to howl along. it sounds like the sound track to a bad horror movie. She is only 14!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Just a quick update as I really pleased how things have turned out so far.
He had a couple of days open day for sixth form and then a further day when he went in to discuss A level choices and is now happy with his decision of what to take.
He had 2 days work experience at Tesco and loved it. He hopes he can go back again some time during the holiday. He met some nice people of all ages and experienced a variety of jobs they even gave him some checkout training and let him loose on the till on his second day.
Last week was the first week of his residential NCS summercamp and gone for his second week today. He knew nobody and says there are about 200 there. He seems to have made some good friends and is enjoying it. He's been really lucky with the lovely weather. This week is apparently the skills training week so I'm hoping to notice a change in him next weekend, with a bit of luck!
He's even making more of his spare time as he went camping with friends at the weekend.

Mine had an interview for a weekend catering assistant job a week or so ago that he's due to hear back 'early this week' whether he has the job or not. I have my fingers crossed even though it means I can wave goodbye to having a weekend lie in as I will need to drive him there :rotfl:
He had another interview lined up on Saturday monring but they called at the last minute to cancel as they'd realised that he's not 16 until the end of August
He's been spending time at his g/f's house during the day but that will be knocked on the head as her mum has broken up for the school holidays now :rotfl:
He's been out skateboarding a couple of times and lots of 'parties' in the park.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Im glad he has enjoyed the NCS summercamp my d/s goes on 29th July and I am hoping that he is going to enjoy it as much as your d/s is. When you look at what they do on there facebook page its looks really good.
Up until then he is working a few days a week in our cafe and having a couple of days a week with his mates.
It's weird but i keep thinking that because he is at home all kids have broken up for school but then i see some on a morning and realise he isnt a schoolboy anymore.0
