Manufacturers Warranty on Bicycles

Options
Hi, I am looking for advice on my statutory rights with regards to Manufacturers warranties on bicycles.
I purchased a carbon framed bike on 07/06/13 from a local shop. Yesterday I found a crack in the frame and today returned the bike to the shop. They confirmed it was a crack and then told me they would try and contact Giant (the manufacturer) to see if they would "authorise" a replacement frame under their lifetime frame warranty. The shop now has the bike and I am left empty handed with no idea of when I will/may get a replacement.
Am I right in thinking it should be up to the shop to supply a new bike/frame under my consumer rights as my contract is with them? the shop should then seek satisfaction from the manufacturer?
It is a road bike that I have owned for 2 weeks and completed 220 miles of riding. Always used for intended purpose. The bike was bought under a finance agreement with a 10% deposit paid at time of purchase. I Have heard nothing from them for the rest of the day as whilst I was there they had no joy getting an answer by phone from the manufacturer. I feel if I am going to stand a chance of getting a speedy result from the shop I need to know all my rights.....Please help:mad::mad:

"Your rights are against the retailer – the company that sold you the product – not the manufacturer, and so you must make any claim against the retailer."

Ignore my first post, as I didn't spot the HP bit.

"For hire-purchase agreements, the customer’s rights are against the finance company, not the retailer, as their contract is with the finance company until the final payment is made."

And it's the wrong forum, by the way. ;)

Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Savvy Shopper!
Have you tried turning it off and on?
Maybe Microsoft will cover it under warranty.
I think I read an article about this on IGN...
    Tweak your DNS settings?
Or maybe they'll bring out a patch you can download.
You could just cut your losses and trade it in for another one in CEX.
Or wait for the PS4 it'll be out by the end of the year!

putting hire purchase to one side as it doesn't really change the situation.

Similar thing happened to me, bike 3 weeks old, bottom bracket was all rusted, shop said it wasn't covered under the bike warranty so the manufacture would not cover the cost, so they would "clean the rust off" I said no way, I wanted a new bottom bracket and it was their problem if the manufacture wouldn't cover the cost...they replaced the BB.

My suggestion to you is, a bit different as the costs are a lot more so a bike shop will not be rushing in to replace a frame without first trying the manufacture, let them contact the manufacture and see what they say, as it will be the fastest way to get your bike fixed, as the shop is not going to replace the bike if the manufacture will cover the cost, if they come back and say the manufacture says no then you go after the shop, and if that doesn't work the finance company but those other 2 option will most likely involve a fight as you may have to prove you did not misuse the bike, so it really is in your interest to play along nicely and hope the manufacture comes good.

Just to add, make sure a carbon bike is right for you as I would have no confidence in them if one broke so soon, do you really need to save a pound in weight that badly?

oh and I agree not really a gaming question is it ;)
