Single Player Games Vs Multiplayer Games

Which do you prefer? When it comes to consoles I stick pretty much exclusively to single player games except for the occasional co-op mode. I'd love to play Multi but as I'm deaf I can't use a Mic and I feel like I'm the one running in circles in the corner while everyone else plays as a team.
It's not so much an issue on games like LittleBigPlanet as you are just working together and stay in the same zone so it's easy to co-ordinate what you are doing, but on FPS it's horrible not being able to communicate.
When it comes to PC games I love playing co-op with groups, I hardly ever play single player on PC. I think it's because most PC games communication is done via text as you can type a lot faster than on a console. I'm not huge on PVP games though I will dabble from time to time, I just much prefer working together and as most multi-player is head to head stuff it's just another reason why I prefer single player.
How about you guys? Do you like playing alone, working as a team or fighting people to the bitter end?

I enjoy the challenge of playing online against people from all over the world.
Playing through The Last of Us singleplayer at the moment though.0 -
I love multiplayer.
Most of the time unless you're playing with friends you may as well just mute the other players anyway on FPS games. No one wants to say anything helpful xD
I love playing CoD on multiplayer. I find the campaigns pretty dull.
I enjoy the team-based games the most where you need to employ some sort of strategy like Domination or something. My favourite multiplayer is probably from Red Dead Redemption. It's just so COOL. The co-op missions are awesome!
I'm playing The Last Of Us multiplayer at the moment. I really like it. The mics are pretty important though at the moment (eventually when the decent gamers get bored with it and move on you'll only hear obnoxious kids blasting music through them no doubt) I don't usually bother with a mic unless I'm playing with friends but I do with this game.
Typically though, I believe 9/10 times the main campaign of a game is superior to multiplayer which is usually just an afterthought.Hi. I can play any really but I love the competitiveness of multiplayer online, sometimes though its nice to just take your time with a single player campaign as with The Last of Us, really enjoying this.
I can understand how being deaf or hard of hearing would reduce the fun and interaction of multiplayer though.0 -
in my experience no one speaks on multi player games, so don't let that stop you, a group of friends would but that's not normally about the game tactics but banter.
I enjoy multi player but it seems you have to play 24/7 to be as good as most players, so you're not alone there, feeling you are just running around like a chicken with no head.0 -
I greatly prefer single-player gaming over multiplayer. I stopped buying CoD games when Activision and their cohorts felt it was acceptable to throw in a three hour SP campaign.
I play some limited coop multiplayer with friends, usually in RTS games such as Company of Heroes and off and on I play WoW but as much as I can avoid it I don't engage in PvP, instead favouring the cooperative PvE content and solo content.
Overall I prefer storylines and characters while gaming and you don't really get that with MP. I also dislike this trend of finding any and every way to squeeze MP into a game that really has no need or benefit for it such as the ME3 multiplayer which is just a typical horde mode, although perhaps the more annoying thing there was that they tied it in to the SP "War Assets" mechanic which on release, despite Bioware's claims to the contrary, made it all but mandatory to play MP for the "better" endings. MP really should always remain optional.0 -
I avoid online gaming as I just don't have the time for it to effectively achieve nothing.
I do like a good sinle player game with a good story but even then these 100 hour games are out the window.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I love nothing more than a good single player game. An online component to a game would never entice me into buying it, but a great, long single player campaign would. I want hours of fun in single player like assassins creed, skyrim, far cry, mass effect and the like. Or a good racing game like forza, need for speed which can go on forever without completing.0

Used to do a lot of multiplayer a few years ago, but now I tend to stick to single.0

I'm staunchly single player. I sometimes play stuff online with friends, but I much prefer to get immersed in a story and world without other players trying to ruin it for me.
Not to mention the multiplayer focus of a lot of games means that when the servers are shut down it's a pain to play the game after.... and communities are fickle and migrate so fast it makes the game irrelevant.
No, i like to have games I can play any time and enjoy without them dying a horrible death in a couple of years.0 -
OP the last time I was on Cod BO2 no 1 was playing as a team, its not always been like that though , used to enjoy it when everyone played as a team.
At the minute I'm playing single player of far cry and borderlands 2 if that's the latest 1.0
