Sorry but I thought I posted on a thread of yours some time ago about how you wouldn't be able to cover your rent for the summer. (Unless I'm confusing you with someone else.)

When I was investigating uni finance before applying it seemed fine; when the actual calculations came through it didn't. I thought I had it sorted, and the Tax Credit renewal, along with changes to CT benefit made a mess of it again.

Why do you say that? They are going to look for work too.

Only towards idiots who clearly didn't come to help in the first place and only post derogatory remarks.

For a few weeks, yes. Whoop di doo.

How much have you blown on non-essential improvements for a house you don't own, OP?

I might go and blow my savings on a yacht tomorrow. When I can't pay my bills at the start of next month I trust the state will pick up the tab?

Or is that not how it works for the rest of us?

By your logic nobody should be able to but anything but bread & water - what if something then happened and you couldn't pay the bills?
I spent only what I believed I could afford; based on all the information I had; and the loft hatch you're referring to is much cheaper than the price of storage for the stuff that now fits there. If the information I had been provided by government agencies was incorrect, that's not my fault.
I'm not in this position by design or by choice (I find it astounding that anyone would rely on this ridiculous benefit system by choice); and I'm making plans as best I can to avoid it next summer.
In the meantime I've asked nicely for some simple advice as I still need to provide for my family.

What people are struggling with is that you are not providing, benefits are and why your wife cannot work. Many mothers return to work with children much younger, it is sadly a reflection on society, but a necessary evil.

And also why you weren't planning on working during the summer in the first place.
