Planning extra children with neither adult working and knowing you were going to rely on benefits is a gamble, they can be changed or pulled at any time.

One of you at least needs to work, theres no reason she cant work full time or you could study at night and work during the day.

Rather than blame the state, you need to look closer to home. You both chose this, nobody else. Its not down to other tax payers to throw money at you as you want to live a certain lifestyle, mainly not work.

Usually morning & night; but sometimes its the only way to quiet her down for a daytime nap.
By 'limiting hours' all we would like is to say that she is available for daytime hours so she can do those two feeds.
We haven't taken time to get baby used to a bottle, or to speed up weaning, because, until recently, we weren't expecting to have to do this.

2 feeds a day isn't enough liquid, so I assume a sippy cup is to be used, can you not use formula milk in the cup?

I think you are between a rock and a hard plate as you are the carer not her, they allow you to care. Can you not sign on, students can during holidays.

She does use the cup a bit; but not well.
The problem is more the amount of milk.

The OP states in their first post
she has to claim on behalf of us both, which means she is the one who they want to see looking for work (even though I will be too).
As the wife is claiming, she is the one that has to satisfy the job seekers agreement, but the OP will be looking for work too.
By 'limiting hours' all we would like is to say that she is available for daytime hours so she can do those two feeds.
You can restrict your search to your usual field of work for a few months, but this might be difficult as she hasn't worked for a while.

Has she come to an agreement about the type of work she is searching for? I'm not clear where she is in the claiming process.

The OP is a student. Students cannot claim JSA except in limited circumstances - they either needs to have formally suspended, or be part of a student couple with a child. Neither seems to be the case, so the only option is for the OPs partner to claim for him. Which is what they are doing.
