Thanks Bella and Little Miss- I am really looking forward to it.

Well just a quick update before we head off out - I will catch up on diaries when I return next week.

We are all packed up and hubby has gone to work until 1pm. We are getting the bus into town to avoid him getting through the traffic to pick us up from our village. Then we will fight the traffic to Wales! My Mum is looking after Sherman the Tortoise for the weekend.....it is really weird with him not being here!

    One the money front......
I have literally £5 to my name until payday  So hubby is funding us for a week! What did I say last month about not letting myself get do a skint point again?? September should be better planned.

We have vouchers to go to the national showcaves and then we will visit the science museum for £20 so we shouldn't spend too much.

Trying to engineer DD2 to pick clothes for people to get for her birthday. She is happy with clothes and it save me on getting her stuff!

We will be using a supermarket when camping as we have done our month! So I can cross it off my list! However I would like to do it again on a more realistic month as we have lots of meals out and hubby was away etc so I can't compare it to a normal month easily!

I will ensure I take a pad of paper and our budget camping so I can plan September a little bit!

Right I had better do the washing up and then get the bus into town.

Have a wonderful bank holiday everyone x

  • Enjoy your week away OF.

I want to say roll on September because I too am utterly skint and really struggling this month - but September means back to work, and whilst I'm feeling lots better in myself I'm very aware that it was work that eventually broke me. Still, I have a plan.

See you once you're back :D

  • Hello OrangeFairy, hope you have/have had a lovely time camping. I'm sorry if I missed it, but did hubby get the job?

    Morning all!

What a lovely weekend it was. A little arguing from the kids aside and it was perfect! I was a little concerned when we turned up as it was raining but Saturday on wards was beautiful. The last night I slept on top of the sleeping bag as it was so hot!

We had campfires, marshmallows and hot chocolate in the evenings which was loooovely. In the day time we had a trip to the national showcaves, a long walk and a trip to Techniquest- the children's science museum.

I totalled up what we spent and it is a little scary at £186 without fuel! So I need to work out what money hubby had left of his wages for August (if any) and then work a little of the holiday money into our grocery budget and then see what we have left.

I am back to work today but hubby has this week off with the girlies. So I feel a little rubbish leaving them this morning.

    Spends from our disposable income this month;

    Camping TBC
    DD2 birthday inc party £200
Other birthdays above my budget £20
Train cost to Thorpe park £35
    Uniform bits £40
    Meal out with kids £20
Day out to crealy- just fuel
    £30 swim membership

I also told hubby that he could invest in some clothes this month as he hasn't had anything for ages. So I need to put a figure on that.

Not sure we will have a lot for overpayments!

    We will see!

SS- don't know about the job yet! Hubby emailed and they said they had been busy and hadn't decided yet!
