Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Savvy Shopper!
I was always shocked by how different the PC versions and the console versions are. The PC version is infinitely better in my opinion.

I played Sims 1 & 2, but didn't bother with 3 as it required picking up an all singing / dancing PC just to play this one game. I do more of my gaming on xbox 360 these days - it so much easier as you don't have to upgrade your kit the way I used to have to with the PC. It's a shame the console versions are really poor compared to the PC version.

I did get SimCity on release, but its so buggy and if you don't have the absolute top specs in your PC it crashes once your city reaches a certain size (or you have to lower the graphics to the point that it looks really naff). Such as shame as I've always loved both games.

I used to play the Sim City games a lot.

I'd sit up half the night working on my cities, and then when I went to bed I'd end up dreaming about my cities.

I also played The Sims, and got a few of the expansion packs.

But I probably haven't played for a good ten years or so.

I only work two days a week now, so in theory I could start it up again and have lots of time to play, but I always seem to have too many other things to do nowadays.

Ditto with Civilisation III for me - hours pass very quickly without you realising!!

I played the original Sims, then Sims 2 and Sims 3. I preferred the Sims 2 as there were so many mods to add stuff. It was like having a 'living' dolls-house.

Sims 3 didn't have the mods and seemed to try to make you play the game properly (if you know what I mean) and not just muck around building & decorating whatever you pleased (including the Downtown area), dressing the sims in different costumes and making their little lives a complete misery :D.

When I'm back in the mood for creating godlike mayhem, I may dust Sims 2 or 3 off and have another play.

I love the Sims franchise and have played right from the first PC game. Unfortunately I haven't enjoyed Sims 3 as much as I first anticipated I would :(

Mainly because my PC is pants for gaming. I'm not sure what I am going to do when Sims 4 is released

I used to love the decorating, refitting the kitchen and building extensions for their houses. I also used to put other sims on other plots,so my sims could have plenty of visitors. But I could be cruel to my sims too, I used to try and start punch ups by getting the sims to behave inappropriately with each other.

Sometimes I let my sims have a baby, but it was so much trouble with all the crying. After a day or so I'd let social services come along and repossess the baby!

I still really like The Sims 3. I probably won't get The Sims 4 until about 2015 though, as it might be affordable by then!

I've been playing The Sims since I was a teenager and got hooked on the original. :)

I have found with the Sims 3 that I get a little bored/frustrated with the new functions (for want of a better word!) that come with the expansion packs. Like in Supernatural, I love all the stuff you get with it, but I don't always want zombies and fairies and warewolves walking around my town! :o

I bought Island Paradise on Friday and I've been enjoying it, although annoyingly I left it playing for about an hour unattended on Monday night (forgot to pause!) and came back to find that my Sim had been killed on her fancy new resort that I'd built and all the other Sims in the area looked like they'd been in some sort of fire. I had a look last night (with a new Sim) and I think she must have been hit by a meteor as there was loads of scrap on the lot, lots of scorch marks and missing items (presumably destroyed in the 'incident') and a ruddy big rock in a massive hole! Never seen that one before! My poor Sim, thought she'd be OK on her own for a while, apparently not! :p I had my new Sim mourn for her as her gravestone was there too!

Mercenary, if you do the cheat bar (Ctrl, Shift, Windows, C) and type in 'testingcheatsenabled true' you can build/buy on any lot by holding down Shift and clicking on the ground. :) You can Shift/Click on the Sim's mailbox to 'Make all happy' and fill their needs bar if you can't be bothered to look after them properly, you can also use it to generate random visitors and transport Sims to any location, even use it on Sims to age them up automatically if a crying baby is annoying you. I use this cheat all the time! :) That and the 'motherlode' one for $50,000! :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

There's a menu in the options to turn mystical creatures etc. off.:D
