Not this year I'm afraid. I'm off to Paris at the end of October so saving my pocket money for that!
I did this last year and loved every stitch of it. My only advice would be to back stitch each page as you finish it. I put a little French knot to mark where I live but because the UK is so small on the map I think it was the size of Kent.
Nooo don't open the link!!!!0 -

Love it JCS, frame and mount really set it off.
Finished 1 bird, started the 2nd and then hadcountedck it as I was watching DIY SOS and had to unpick it as I miscounted!
Elizabeth - dmc for me unless I can't get the right number and then it's the anchor equivalent, I do have a lot of unbranded ones thy I'm trying to use up aswell.
Coxy - me and Mum are going again this year. Can't wait it's the weekend after my (30th) birthday13 in 2013 challenge 9/130 -
I have a busy weekend so not sure how much stitchy time I will be able to fit in then of course its Monday again.....
I was in town yesterday and bought a selection of sandwich type bags and then I spotted some boxes with lids in wilk0 at reasonable price so once the sorting and decorating is finished, I can measure up and see which box(es) would work best. Then eventually hopefully all my threads will be properly sorted and I suppose it would make sense to mark off which I have to avoid faffing!
Happy saturday all!0 -
Hi flat eric!
Your last posting covers the same ground, really, but, as I took these photos for you last night, I'll show you just the same!!!:D
This is the type of bag I use, probably something similar to your sandwich bags. It just needs to be easily resealable, i.e. not those sticky top ones.

I then fished out a 3 litre Really Useful Box and tried it for size with a couple of my thread packs.
I would recommend storing them vertically, rather than piling them on top of each other for ease of access, but it depends on how you feel about it.
I was also going to suggest getting the food bags first and then taking a pack or two along to the shop you wanted to buy boxes from in order to check for size. You probably did something like this anyway.
For everyone:
This is the current status of my WIP:

Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend.Elizabeth

Hi everyone
I have the full set of DMC threads, never use Anchor unless they are included in a kit, which I very rarely buy.
I keep the threads in the cardboard box they were delivered in. Its really easy to find the colour as they are all in number order, but have to admit the box is starting to get a bit tatty around the edges now so looking for a replacement.
I'm hoping to have finished the next page of Elvis by tomorrow night so if I take a update pic I'll also take one of the thread box to show you what I mean.
JSC1 -love the picture, your framer chose well!
Happy stitching!0 -
quick update from me. I've not done any cross stitch since I went back to work but have been lurking and admiring all the wonderful makes on her.
I need a good kick up the proverbial to get back into the groove.
JCS definately put me down for the xmas exchange - I have that one done already in anticipation lol.0 -

Now that's what I call 'cheating' Maisie:rotfl:
Some fab finishes everyone as usual :T
Love those boxes Elizabeth. Regarding which threads I use - I started using DMC as that is the brand I could buy locally (well before days of online shopping) but mainly stitched kits so didn't really have a huge amount to store. Then DH bought me a large supply of Anchor a couple of Christmas' ago and I have finally got around to sorting them into order. I tend to use whichever brand I have the correct number/shade for.
Right off to sort some piccies out.

Here goes
This one is DS's gf's birthday - well part of her pressie anyway.
and then this one is for my kitchen.
and this is a pic of my sorted threads. The lids of the boxes are labelled to show which types and numbers are in each box.
I have stored all duplicated threads in these bags from Ikea. They are really strong, come in various sizes and I sometimes use them to store wips.
