Hello all,
Everyones stitching is so lovely - you all should be very proud of yourselves.
Warning going to be a long post.
Here is some updates from me to you.
Finished part 8 of the learning sampler - in this I did cross stitch, diamond rhodes stitch, rice stitch and a new one round eyelet stitch.
Also did another page for my stitch book - round eyelet stitch
Today I am also planning to start my Mums memory stitch - the twisted band - here is the finished design with my threads - I using DMC threads not the recommended threads - Au Ver a Soie (they were about £3 each, as apposed to my DMC threads were 10 for £3.30 (the bobbin ones) or 39p each (the skein ones)). Worked out I have only paid about £15 (pattern was free - won it in a competition with the designer). So not bad going. Going to do it on plain white evenweave at 32hpi.
I always find stitching helps my downs - I can lock myself into a bubble - being want to stitch non stop of late so I can crawl into that bubble. Sorry for moan.
With note I hope all are ok.
Kind wishes to all,
sweetcarer:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Stitching always helps me as well. When my brother died and I felt flat and unable to sew, I unpicked an old second hand canvas (badly done - boughtit to reclaim the thread), sorted all my threads onto card and put them in number order, which was very soothing and then kickstarted my creativity again as I found playing around with the colours fun and started to look through books and patterns again.
Cross stitch also got me through many nights when my children were small when they were at the taking it in turn to come downstairs every five minutes (OH was working over 300miles away for up to 3 weeks at a time). Would answer politely to their requests but not engage - they could get something they thought they needed but I would not go upstairs to read another story, tell them to try lying quietly with their eyes shut if they could not get to sleep - and then carry on sewing to keep calm and not get angry (we always kept a plastic beaker in the bathroom so they could get a drink of water, so one less excuse to come down).
Yes cross stitch is a sanity saver. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Great pics sweetcarer :T Sorry to hear you are having a tough time - it's totally understandable with what you have gone through. Take care of yourself. Looking forward to seeing Mum's stitch. Great prices on the threads btw.
