Hi everyone I'm new to MSE,
I was wondering if I could join this thread please? I've been in hospital the past few months as I'm struggling with mental illness. Its made it really hard for me to concentrate on my cross stitch.
I've tried smaller designs but I seem to find that the smaller they are the more thread changes there are and I'm struggling at the moment.
Can anyone recommend a kit or a pattern please?
If I'm allowed to join this group I look forward to getting to know you all, I've already seen some amazing work!0 -
Welcome,happy socks,
It's a friendly place here in the cafe, lots of people with a lot of experience,I have bin stitching for years and I find that if a kit appeals to you,go for it.
My friend started me off with a small teddy bear and I was hooked as they say,the next one in my innocence was a teddy wrapped in a quilt, not hard I thought but my bear has six fingers instead of five, went wrong all over the place but I still love it!
Each one you do your confidence grows and there is always somebody on hand to explain here in the cafe if your not sure how to do it.0 -

Louise - your Lizzie Kate piece is lovely, have to say that I do like her stuff, and it is such a lovely sentiment too. New threads are lovely, especially the front row, so rich and bright.
fos - thanks for your thoughts on framing / lacing. I think I will def go for the professional framing. I have found a framer in a nearby town who laces (I knew of the framers but had no idea they laced too) and they also sell cross stitch kits and supplies! Who knows just how much my visit will cost me now lol.
Mrs_T_M - that's a cute little bunny, perfect for an Easter card.
HappySocks - Hi. Welcome to the cafe. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. You'll soon feel at home. Have you had a browse on Sew and So's website - hundreds if not thousands of kits to choose from so there should be something suitable there and there postage costs are very reasonable.
JCS1 - hope you both enjoy Susan Boyle.

Welcome happysocks
It's not easy to suggest kits or designs without any idea of what your tastes are but if for example you were attracted to Louise's recently finished piece by Lizzie Kate then there are some small free designs on the LK website which are really quick and easy to stitch and it's easy to change the colours to whatever you have and/or like.

What sort of designs have you stitched in the past?
Hope you will enjoy our company here0
