Thank you all for the lovely welcome, I'll take a look around at some kits and I'll let you know what I choose :)

Sorry FlowerofScotland I missed your post, you're right I didn't make it easy for someone to suggest something. Louise's work is lovely, thank you for the link it might be a good place to start. I want to eventually brighten up our walls with some nice larger designs.

Louise - well done on the Lizzie Kate design it's really nice and so true.

HappySocks- welcome to the Cafe. One thing I will add is that we are a nosey bunch and love to see photos. You won't be able to add links or photos until you have reached a certain level of posts - possibly 10 or 20, but if you join in conversations you will soon be up to this limit. There's information on the first post in the thread on how to add photos.

Louise - love the new DMC colours they are so vibrant. FOS I'm not surprised that you have ordered them, I have to say that I am tempted to buy them myself. Where have you bought them from?

Ayeshalush - if you would like the Henry chart you are welcome to it, I won't stitch it again. If there is anyone else that would like it then I'm sure Ayeshalush will pass it on once she's finished with it. I know you would still need to buy thread and fabric but it maybe cheaper than buying a whole kit. PM me if you would like to.

Abi has kindly given me permission to add a picture of her latest SAL here. The SAL costs £3 which I think is an absolute bargain. If anyone wants some more information let me know and I'll point you in Abi's direction.

Hi everyone I'm new to MSE,

I was wondering if I could join this thread please? I've been in hospital the past few months as I'm struggling with mental illness. Its made it really hard for me to concentrate on my cross stitch.
I've tried smaller designs but I seem to find that the smaller they are the more thread changes there are and I'm struggling at the moment.
Can anyone recommend a kit or a pattern please?

If I'm allowed to join this group I look forward to getting to know you all, I've already seen some amazing work!

You can join... as long as you post photos and don't tell me off for crocheting instead of x-stitching.

Hope it helps you feel a bit better... it's good to have a focus :)

As for ideas, what sort of thing do you like? x

Happysocks, welcome :) if you google "free assisi cross stitch" or "free silhouette cross stitch" you can find some lovely free patterns that will generally only use 1 colour, no changes needed :D

Thank you, everyone seems very friendly here!
I'll definitely put up photos of my work, hopefully that will encourage me to do more lol.
As for what I like, I'm not too sure to be honest, I think at the moment anything easy will do, just to keep me occupied.
nmm I'll have a look at those they sound ideal thank you
  • Hi all

    Welcome happysocks happy stitching.

    Louise love the threads.

Didn't get to stitch again today, picked it up, phone goes it's EDF with a problem with my DD and account will take about 15 minutes is that ok, 45 minutes later I start to lose my temper, poor man says I'll ring you back in about 10 minutes. About an hour later he rings back, I'm now cooking dinner, still not sorted he's going to ring back Monday as I'm busy tomorrow. Hope it's sorted by then. Sorry for complaining.

    Hope your all well today.
