  • I do so understand Nutty, and I know not all grandparents are as lucky as us and your Mum and Dad were. It is just good to know we have had a good influence on their lives and I am particularly close to our first DGD. We have always made it clear to them that they can come to us with any problems they have and we will do our best to find a solution. We are so proud of them, but I think you can tell that by my post:)

I am so sorry your Mum is still not well, you must be worried to death. I hope they can adjust the medication and able to glean some information from the stress test. I must admit I haven't heard of that before. Sending you lots of hugs.

    Much love

  • Nutty, very sorry to hear about your mum. It really wish they could find some answers for you and get your mum back on an even keel!

    Princess,

1.We're lazy so and so's. Although the basics are done regularly, things like cleaning white goods happen as and when. We probably clean the fridge once a month (including disinfect shelves etc.) the oven twice a year?:o Please don't judge us! On the WM, I wipe down the outside about once a week when I'm doing work tops. The trap, inside etc...welll.....

    2. Depends on where it is. If it is on tile/grout, then a paste of bicarb and thick bleach does wonders. Leave it to sit while you have a cuppa and then rinse away. If it is on walls, I'd probably use a diluted bleach spray--1part bleach to 10 parts water-ish. However, mould often stains walls so it may be the stain that you can't shift. Afraid the only remedy I know of for this is painting.

    3. Again, it depends on the poppers. If they are the kind use on a shirt (like the pearlized kind on cowboy shirts) then its a bit tricky. If they are the kind that is stitched on the inside of something, say a trouser flap then it is as easy as changing a button. Basically, if you can see an easy way to get it off then its easy to stitch a new one back on, but if it looks sort of sealed on then it can be hard to get them off then replace them without damaging the cloth. What kind of thing are they on?

  • The poppers are on a all season duvet FPK. Dont think its going to be a easy job :( x

Buy some old fashioned snap fasteners and sew them next to the old ones, bit of a slow job but will sort it for you. xx

  • I agree with Ginny's suggestion--it wont matter if the old ones are still there as that is generally the bottom of the duvet, so don't bother with trying to get the old ones off, just sew on new ones.
  • Also, above, I didn't mean to suggest I only wipe the work tops once a week! I just add in the microwave and WM about once a week while I'm doing one of my wipe rounds--usually on the weekend when I have a bit more time to spend on it. We aren't THAT lazy, worktops get done 2-3 times a day, more if necessary!

I bought some large snap fasteners for summer and winter weight duvets to make my own seasonal one. They were about an inch across. They held together very very well but We haven't needed the two together since we moved here.

When to clean white goods? When the thought occurs to you. Or, when the grubby finger marks etc simply cannot be ignored any longer.

Have a few questions if anyone can answer them please x

1: How often do you clean white goods (cooker, WM, Oven) ect?

2: Best way to clean mould? Currently using a WU liquid / bleach mix. Nothing seems to shift it.

3: How easy is it, In real life to replace popper buttons?

Very random & off topic I know, But normally we would just buy new, buy paint & buy expensive products to do the work for us..?

I clean my cooker or oven everytime I use it, that way you dont get burnt on grease ,grime etc , and then you never have to spend 3 hours cleaning it........
WM I spray a bit of cleaner on dish cloth and do it about couple times a week.......

I havent got any mould , so thankfully I dont have that job to do...:D.....But I always use flash bleach spray in the bathroom .........
My family call me " queen clean " cos im always cleaning:)...........

I painted out my front porch today and washed all the white double glazing down , it looks lovely and bright now, just whats needed with all this grey weather about........
Now got my fire a light after a nice hot soapy bath and hair wash , waiting for son to come with his family bringing fish n chips with him oohhh lovely cant wait for tea.....Catch you all later.....Sheila
