Morning all,
I've been reading a long, but struggling with myself a bit this week. However, it is getting better and will hopefully continue to do so. I've had several blows at work--one a side project not going forward, the second is the very unexpected death of a student and the third is a very close friend who is struggling so much that I think she may quit. Because of the first, which happened last week, I haven't felt like I had many resources to draw on to support others for the other two, but have done my utmost and will continue to do so. It helps to put my own petty worries into perspective as well.
We also had a death in the family last weekend while we were away. My OH was not particularly close to the deceased, but his mother was and I'm not quite sure of the best way to be supportive. The funeral isn't for some time yet, but I intend to be there to help with whatever I can from the sidelines.
Still, I need to carry on with work so I'm pressing ahead as fast as I can. I've lost focus a couple of days so I'm about a day behind but I'm doing what I can.
Monna, I've been thinking about your diabetic deserts, but I haven't come up with anything wonderful yet.
Hugs to any and all who need them.x0 -

It's not raining! (well for the past hour it's been clear at least). Skies are still manky grey though.
Dd2 has had a vomiting bug, DD1 is turning into a sloth and DH is as miserable as sin...it's all good fun here.
I think we should all go see Mrs LWs new grandson, we'll all bring lunch and promise not to get broody (who am I kidding!!)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Good morning all, Mrs LW congratulations on the very safe arrival. Your going to be one very special oma.
Well today has been eventfull already, as usual took mum to aldi and then we nipped into Mr s. Mum was walking down the one of the isles and she just started to collapse. Luckily a lovely man and lady, helped her, as I was wandering in the next isle. We went into the coffee shop and had 5 mins and a hot drink. Then I took her straight home. I have called and she is fine, managed to ask SIL to call by as she goes to pick the children up to check on her. The hospital have sent an appointment through for the stress test on her heart, its the 13th feb so today I need to request the afternoon off work to take her. I wont ask my brother or SIL, easier just to get on with it myself.
DD has been invited to a charity ball for valentines day, so I checked the local charity shops and a lovely lady in the heart foundation shop is searching the stock room for me, will pop by later today to see what they have found.
While in aldi I didn't need much so I donated my last voucher to alovely young mummy with 2 little ones. They were so sweet, the little girl was asking mummy please can I have grapes - that did it for me. What lovely manners for a little girl. I hope it made my day as much as mine!!! My mum said it was a nice justure, hopefully a nice thing happens to me too.
We have no heating at home, the boiler was leaking gas and was switched off by the gas board yesterday. The council have been in, and hopefully tomorrow they will be back to repair the value that was leaking. No wonder the last 2 weeks I have been putting £15 a week in the meter..... Well fingers crossed it is all mended tomorrow.

Candlelight, I was a teenage mum and my mum and dad have had such a big influence in their lives. We both worked when they were little, no benefit help then, and my mum did the school run and made them tea. They took them to Disney paris and to Lapland. Mum use to go into town and magically they would appear with new shoes, a coat etc. My eldest went with my mum last year on a cruise as mum didn't want to travel alone. All the people they met congratulated her on being so close to my mum, and how nice she was. My mum and dad created such lovely careing grandchildren, their influence in their lives has moulded them into being caring young adults. I know as mum I have helped too, but they always asked when they were younger if nan and grandad were proud of them. Sorry... im waffling but you get the drift!

Certainly has been an eventful morning Nutty. Hope your mum's OK.
Lyn how are you coping with another day of being a Grandma?
Took 2 dogs and 2 rabbits to the vet today so I feel in need of a rest. The dogs are getting on much better with each other, and new rescue Sapphie is fine except for sore, matted and very hairy paws.
No news on a job for DH, but some very happy news. My lovely parents have told us they are starting ISAs for each of their 4 grandchildren, to help them with university fees, or whatever kind of education/training they need when they reach 18. How lucky am I? We used to have savings for this in the good old days, but since redundancies and failing businesses it's all gone so this is such a lovely thing for my parents to do.0 -
Nutty, What a day. Shame its taking a while for your mum to get back on her feet. Hopefully it will be a much speedier process once the tests are finished.

Congratulation's Mrs LW
Possession, it's lovely to hear of Granparent's opening ISA for the kiddies, but please ask them to check how much they can 'give away' to family before tptb stick there noses in, I know it did use to be about 3 1/2 grand a few years back, and I only mention this seeing as there is the possabilty of the tax man getting involed if they go over the allowed limit.hth£71.93/ £180.000 -
Have a few questions if anyone can answer them please x
1: How often do you clean white goods (cooker, WM, Oven) ect?
2: Best way to clean mould? Currently using a WU liquid / bleach mix. Nothing seems to shift it.
3: How easy is it, In real life to replace popper buttons?
Very random & off topic I know, But normally we would just buy new, buy paint & buy expensive products to do the work for us..?
