Mar don't turkish delight count as sweeties?!
My kind of list. I need to make one.
Kidcat well done for being brave and now being free! Sod them in the playground, quite frankly.
All rather strange tonight, DS (11) made a yule log in Food Tech at his new school and tonight he has taught DD (8) how to make one, from scratch, without me even going in the kitchen. I look forward to 3 course meals served up some time soon.
I managed to fit in the stocking filler wrapping this afternoon, so that's done, just a few more bits and pieces to go now.0 -
Well yes.I'm in training for xmas!0

Fry's turkish delight or proper stuff... personally i'd take yer hands off for either of 'em. Love the stuff!
About to do a couple hours of work getting some dear old folk into bed. My kiddies are just about in bed. Not one bit of parenting missed. As jobs go for mums this pretty ideal (although i am havibg a coffee at this late hour)

very sensible cornish, it's all in the preparation......
well done KC, just beware of other stuff eeking into your hard-won time.
Princess - I found counselling (though very worth it) exhausted me, I had to go in fits and starts and let my body and emotions catch up with the work my mind was doing.
feeling slightly queasy today, probably too much coffee, but kids have taken pity on me and eaten a not very strenuous meal that they usually hate. Supposed to be taking colleague's presents in tomorrow, but don't feel up to potting up the plants I've grown for them, so they'll have to wait.
DD5 has wrapped her present to her dad - she decided one wrapping paper was just too dull so has cut out random shaped pieces from our collection of leftover wrapping paper and its a riot of mismatched fun and sellotape - hope he appreciates it.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
So pleased to see everyone ticking things off their lists - very encouraging to see people so organised :rotfl: I have man flu - really bad planning on my part however I wrote my list and sat doing everything on it, parcels for post, moving things on my workbox to the other side and then crochetting a wreath. Did actually go to the Post Office but they were on strike  I know, they are right, if they get closed down Im stuffed but bl**dy hell I have to go back tomorrow now
OH's contribution to the Christmas panic is to make his model railway track and having snoozes - note to self must make him a list too.
Both the CS's near me are really struggling and Tosco's was all but empty today - strange but true. I have a feeling these shops where you weigh in your old clothes are doing the CS's out of stock as its instant cash and we all need that dont we.
Oh well this wreath wont crochet itself best get back to it.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Oh. Kidcat. That's fantastic. We can all breathe a sigh of relief and cross "worry about kidcat" off our lists.
I am going to take advice and stop stressing about card writing. I will continue as and when I can but when I get to the point where I just know that they won't arrive in time I will change the greeting to 'A Happy New Year'. They may LOOK like christmas cards, they may have Christmassy pictures on, they may say "A Happy Christmas" inside but they will in fact be New Years Cards.
At some point I am going to have to dive into the great pile of carrier bags in my bedroom and see what is in them. I have a feeling that Mia will be doing very well indeed - she who won't even know what it is all about but who can resist buying things for a sweet little 14 month old girl - and everyone else will limp in as also rans. I can see that Christmas morning is going to involve a lot of sackcloth and ashes on my part.
As to the state of my house, our little nun friend has announced that she is arriving tomorrow to help me sort out and should she bring a vacuum cleaner. I forbore to say that a flame thrower might be more appropriate but did explain that I can manage the cleaning once I have some spaces to clean. She really is an angel. We call her 'The Nun on the Run'.
Oooops! This was going to be an early night.

Yes Sheila say hello if you can. Also Mrs Chip, I hope you are ok if you are reading. I miss your posts.
Well today hasn't been the best. The dishwasher seems to have packed up now and when DH went to lock up our french doors at the back, the lever you pull down before locking snapped. So we have gone to bed with the back unlocked. The doors are on our massively expensive list of house repairs. I know it sounds a bit pathetic but I feel ready to burst into tears. Our finances and our house seem to be getting worse and worse. DH took annual leave the other day to avoid his work Christmas lunch, they were asking for £10 deposits so no idea what the whole cost would have been. I know we are lucky to have a house and no real debts other than the mortgage but hardly anyone I know in RL would put up with the state of our house.
Sorry to moan, I am feeling vulnerable. Parcel arrived from my parents and sister for boys' Christmas gifts and that has bought up issues. I feel rejected and unwanted by my parents and only sibling. I have to see GP on Wednesday to get more ADS and I am dreading it as it is like talking to a piece of stone. DH has been telling me about the big deficit in the budget at work, how one dept have been outsourced and another centralised. He thinks last year's voluntary redundancies might be compulsary redundancies nexy year. The house is a total tip, washing piling up, Christmas stuff still to do and I don't have the physical or emotional energy to do it all.
Just want to sit and cry but it is late and I am tired. Tomorrow is a new day right and if you guys can get through what you do then surely I can cope with my little problems. Ok so get some sleep and make a plan for tomorrow
night night

Sounds like you have a huge elephant of your own to deal with and the only way to eat an elephant is in small bites.
. May I make a suggestion.. list what needs doing. Put this into categories. Such as, needs doing urgent, sort before new year, sort before summer, not a lot I can do about this etc.
Concentrate on the urgent matters . Perhaps post issues on here maybe our combined minds can find some os solutions, as we are a step a away from it.
I hope I'm not overstepping the mark. Just would like to help in some way
