I love reading along all the time and if I feel I can contribute I'll join in. My life is pretty limited at the moment with all my health problems so mostly I don't have anything much exciting to say - it's never because I don't feel welcome.
I'm currently sat in my lounge with the Christmas tree for company, wondering why the Christmas presents won't just wrap themselves!! Every year I make a resolution to wrap as I buy and yet every year I never do!! So next week I will mainly be wrapping presents..........
Christmas is a difficult time for me because it's all so "Food" orientated - I will still cook the Christmas dinner for everyone but it's just much harder at this time of the year when it's all about food etc. This is my fourth Christmas with a feeding tube so you'd think I'd be used to it by now but it seems not. So everyone has to have an extra roast spud, mince pie, roses chocolate etc for me!!!!

Just get on here and have a good whinge like I do LOL.
I did once wrap all the presents as I bought them, then I couldn't remember what I'd bought and ended up duplicating.. not very MS!
So sorry you can't have some festive food, it must be really difficult. A lot of it really is about food and there is no getting round it, even the flippin telly is 24/7 stuffing your face. Can't imagine how hard that must be.0 -
The Cake - don't know what to advise about your cat and the tree. I go with the "nothing on the lower branches" look. When the tinsel was there a year or so ago, the naughty tortie grabbed it in her mouth and I rescued it halfway out the catflap! She does like taking things out - fleece throws are another thing that are often found half in and half out the catflap. Now, when they feel it is supper time, there is likely to be a cat sitting on the nest of tables next to the tree, just gently tapping a branch or two!
I don't post often as I don't feel I have much to add, but I read every day and don't feel it is cliquey. It feels like a group of friends chatting but you are always happy to include those on the edge of the group and give support to any who need it. I'm so glad to have found you.

I do feel Christmas can be a stressful time of the year, which is a shame. We are bombarded with ads about the latest electrical goods or the array of food we should be buying and we are made to feel that we will not have a good Christmas unless we spend a small fortune. I must admit I always feel a sense of relief when the New Year dawns.0

Cats and trees - I am resigned to having to redress it daily, on the plus side the tree never gets boring as I never manage to put it back the same way twice
My bigger problem this year is the dog racing into the dining room at every available opportunity and grabbing the home made decorations DS9 made last year in school ( I assume they are salt dough) and eating them. Its really upsetting DS9 and I am worried he will make himself ill as well.0 -

I just like to read along in the quietly background. For everyone that does post, remember that there are more people here thinking of you and wishing the very best for you all when times are tough.
Hear! Hear!
I, too, read all the time and send positive "vibes" to those who share their trials and tribulations, but rarely post. I have never felt excluded, or that I was eavesdropping on private conversations, but just enjoyed the good advice and cheered along when people have positive outcomes.

Meenlaragh I also thought your post was lovely, it encapsulates what this thread is all about. I too am an infrequent poster but feel part of the family. Meant to post yesterday or was it Wednesday when Fuddle was asking about garlic bread, I just very lightly toast any bread, melt some butter and crushed garlic and spread. Only thing is hubby really doesn't like me cheating any more with shop bought.
Hugs to all who need one.

Ive been talking to Lyn this afternoon and she had a super idea re: water and dodgy tasting tea - wean off the bottled stuff by adding tap water until were used to it without any bottledsounds obvious but I never would have thought of it. Its good to talk
I received a call during the school run to say my time sheet had been emailed and I begin shadowing tomorrow.0 -

LOL - getting all excited about a cake of nice soap for christmas is SUCH an OS thing to do!
hello everyone!!
so glad it's friday, looonnnnggg week. house is a disaster again, I will get to grips with it tomorrow, tonight i am updating my xmas spreadsheet so I can work out what really is left.
(I too have double bought christmas presents before by not keeping track).
question: a very good friend has lost a parent and split up with partner this year, she is very, very skint and has asked me not to get her a present as she can't reciprocate, but I also know that she won't have any christmas presents this year - not a one. I've already bought her something very small, and practical and it won't suit anyone else.
I don't want her to feel awful, and go against her wishes, but this is her present, what should I do? still give it? give it as a non-christmas gift after christmas (we do share things we don't want with each other so it could be just that, not a present), or give it to her child to give from them to her (there is no-one to organise the child getting their mum a gift from them) - she'll still know I've done that then and again I don't want her to feel bad.
or something else?
thank you:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
If its any help Fuddle this is what we have had to do when we lived in our last house because the water was awful. Rinse and fill the kettle and you can boil and use that water as much as you like but never top it up with more water. If you add fresh cold water to the water that has already boiled it tastes horrible so when its nearly gone rinse and fill again. I hope that makes sense.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0
