kidcat please take care of yourself. Get some more rest and let the housework wait xxx
Pooky That sounds like a lovely relaxing evening. Enjoy yourself
Well one bag is done, so that is one less to worry aboutIt's the first thing I've made using a pattern off the internet and the first handbag I've made. All the others have been tote bags. I just hope my Auntie Diane likes it. If I make any more using that pattern I think I'd enlarge it or add to it as it came out quite small.
Here are some pics of the makes so far.

pooky i love your fire
Ah home at last, OH forgot his caulk gun so has to go back tomorrow to that. But everything is done. Oh yes :j
We got home for half six, scrammed some food and sat and watched the first half of Going Postal then got ds2 to bed. ds1 is in the bath, little monkey better wash his hair time :mad:0 -
SDG thankyou for the pattern, just wish my printer was working again - DD has jammed it somehow.
Well we are both up, DD is on the x box, she has had a slice of toast before the 8am deadline. All things are packed, so we will leave about 10am. She had really bad nose bleeds so they are removing part of the septum, and lazer treating some small veins. It is in effect rhino plasty - a nose job. This is purly for serious medical needs.
I must remember to get the hospital sick note for 2 weeks, this enables her to have the time extension she needs for her coursework, and to do her work experience placement in February next year and not next week like everyone else. The examination board need it too.
If anyone has an Iceland near them, each day in the sun newspaper this week there is a 'free' treat from Iceland. Might be helpful to put up for Christmas or new year if you can resist eating them earlier. Today is a box of custard slices I think.
Well must get tidyed up and dressed. take care everyone xBSC member 137

Morning all
SDG - wow you have been busy! Lovely stockings.
Good luck today for Miss Nutty - hope it solves her issues.
Woke up at 3am with the sinus headache from hell, the weather must be on the change (does anyone else suffer from weather headaches??) took some tablets and dozed for a couple of hours but feel groggy and blugh now. Will get out for some fresh air , it might not cure it but it won't kill me.
Have emailed DD2s old consultant at Great Ormond Street to see if he can send some advice to our GP regarding her chest condition, our GP is lovely but seems to just want to give out pills, I think we need a different approach. I want my happy go lucky DD back, not this grumpy, pain ridden, moody one. Fingers crossed he can help.
I need some inspiration for Christmas eve food, we have Inlaws coming for the afternoon/evening, ages ago we brought a raclette (I think it's called), a table top sizzle pan with grill underneath, everyone has their own little dishes and can cook a bit of veg/meat on top, pop some sauce on and then grill....it looks like a fab idea for a nice chatty evening round the table...but what would sort of things should I look to get to cook on it? And what sort of sauces do you think? I know it's a Scandinavian in origin so was thinking about getting some reindeer steaks to try???? Or do they do respond well to quick cooking? (DH is mega allergic to fish/seafood so that's out of the question). Suggestions would be welcomed."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Pooky - we have raclette when we're with family in france. I think it's swiss-french rather than scandinavian, and it is named after the type of cheese used - Raclette! (if you can't find it, find one that melts nicely and goes a bit stringy...) and we have it with baby potatoes, gherkins, pickled onions, bits of ham etc.
Lots of info on the web, so have a poke around and see whether you want to go traditional or find something unusual to do with it. Enjoy0 -
Just a quick post
Nutty, hope op goes well.
Pooky have a look on the mega index thread, I was searching for something and saw a couple of threads re the requlet thing... If that helps.

Morning all and Yeehaa CC!
Coming down with something me thinks. Felt a real grotbag yesterday and forgot I promised to take boys to the park - DH volunteered to go in my place and cook dinner (though a simpler version of what I had in mind), he can be thoughtful sometimes and I really appreciated him yesterday. In bed before 7pm just couldn't stay up any longer.
Had a minor wobble at docs this morning. So difficult to get through by phone for an appointment Monday morn (and not an easy task for me at the best of times) so decided to call in after school run and drop DH's prescription in as well. They had literally no appointments all week and as you can't book any further in advance that means my ADs run out on Thursday eve and none until Monday again at the earliest when the whole appointment rigmarole starts again.
I could feel myself getting really anxious and said to the receptionist who kept just repeating the same thing - I need my prescription which is not on repeat by Fri latest otherwise I will get awful side effects. She said she will "see what she can do" and to phone later this afternoon. A friend is on the same ADs and I know will lend my some if she has enough to spare. it has made me realise I am struggling more than I sometimes admit.
DH is taking boys to meet MIL and FIL after school for dinner, they are very excited. Crossing everything for their sake they don't cancel. DH said as soon as he woke up "Hope mum doesn't start up in front of the boys". We are giving her a chance to see her grandkids so lets see if she can behave for a couple of hours.
Well as much as I want to stay home, the fridge is nearly empty and shopping I must go!
take care everyone

NUTTY - if you are still reading - good luck for DD and you today. Please let us know later how she is. (((Thinking of you both.)))

Morning everyone.
Hugs to all that need them. x
Had a quite but stressful weekend really.
It was youngest brother’s birthday. 17 & starting his first driving lesson tomorrow.
Firstly, We went to OH parents as we usually do on a Saturday. It gives OH a chance to catch up with them and help them where needed. Whilst having a cuppa MIL got a phone call stating that her other son, OH B has been moved back to the area.
No one understands why this might be, Maybe because the court case is coming up, But who knows.
Then I managed to fall out with my brother over something really stupid. I know we’ll start talking again, But its added stress.
Then yesterday we left here early to get some Christmas presents as there was some bargains to be had.
This year we have explained to everyone that we’re only buying within our budget and getting everyone one or two presents they actually “NEED” rather than stuff they don’t.
The only one’s getting some extra little bits are the children / babies in our families.
Its strange having to stay within a budget but this year I’m sure we’re not over spending.
Then, OH, Managed to put me in a right stinker! Because he is furious about brother ect, He decided that he would start spending online and trying to get credit in the form of catalogues ect.
He understands damm well what we’re trying to achieve and I made him cancel orders ect. I don’t feel bad either.
This morning he come to me and apologised - He said that he didn’t think before doing things and thought that he could buy us nice things to forget about what’s coming up in our lives.
Anyways, Sorry for the rant & ramble - Today I’m pottering. I’m fed up and my plan is to get more on ebay.
Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
SQ that's an awful situation to find yourself in. I really think these days GP surgeries are so intent on having good stats that patient needs come last.
I experienced a similar situation earlier this year while housebound with arthritis flare. The surgery said exactly the same things and seemed to just ignore me when I tried to explain about pain and consequences of not have medication for 4-5 days.
I ended up in tears but by chance a friend called to see me and was so furious she went to the surgery and refused to leave until she got my prescription. She is far more determined and hard headed than me and insisted she would stay there all night meaning they could not close up or go home (she was not abusive or threatening). The receptionists did not stand a chance.
Eventually a GP came to see what the furore was
about and quite happily wrote out the prescription there and then. She also informed the receptionist that a patient running out of medicines was a priority.
I hope you get your prescription in time.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0
