Please can I ask a council tax question?

Why do I pay a years worth of council tax in 10 months with 2 months 'free'? I don't want 2 months free, I want to spread the cost because that will save us £20 every month. Can I do this?

I do, our council gives you the option.
  • MAR any kitchenware shop should have them, but, if you have bun tins already why not just use them and have three little quiches instead of one larger one?

FUDDLE ring the council offices and ask them if there is a facility to pay every month instead of for 10 months. He Who Knows is out with the boy at the moment, when he comes home I'll ask him if there is a specific reason why they set the payments up that way and let you know, Cheers Lyn xxx

Hi to all an hugs to all that need it. |It's not a bad morning here sunny with cloudy patches. Lovely smell of washing on the line. Doing my final catch up housework before we go away for a few days. My dear friend is house, cat and plant sitting whilst we are gone so hubby say's don't know why I'm bothering as we will probably come back to a pile of rubble! Bless him he is lovely but a bit accident prone! So our fridge will be empty and the house may have a few bits missing but love him any way. |By the way hubs has disappeared to golf while I get on as he doesn't want to get in my way! Yeah right!
Not sure if anyone saw my post about the bramble jelly and how my dear old Mum used to strain it through muslin hung up over an upside down stool? Any other useful tips would be gratefully received.
Have a good day one and all.

    Question (again!)
Where to buy large muffin trays to bake these wee individual quiche thingies?

I'm sure I've seen some in Tesco's, Wilkinsons and Aldi's only recently.

Parsniphead, I don't know where you are, but hereabouts there is a charity (Feral Cat Care) which helps with the cost of neutering & chipping stray & feral cats. I believe the Cats Protection League can also help. We have a feral boy living at the end of the garden, who we're feeding; I'm borrowing a trap from them to get him to the vet to be checked over, neutered (if not already) chipped, de-flea'd & wormed. Then it's up to him whether he wishes to stay out there or come into the warm with our other 3. We've agreed to go halves on vetinary costs and OH will sign a Gift Aid form too, plus our vet gives a special discount for rescues. Might it be worth your while seeing whether there's any help from smaller charities available local to you? The RSPCA just laughed; our local branch seem a bit clueless, TBH.

ETA: Fairyprincessk, cats hate the smell of citrus fruit. If you mince up orange or grapefruit peel & scatter it on your garden beds, they'll stay away. Has to be repeated weekly, but it does work.

I have spent days ringing the charities locally but none can help. I'm on a waiting list for the cats protection but realistically they can't help. My mum has had a stray on their list for over a year and when they rang a couple of weeks ago she is still 300th.

I may as well pay for the treatment myself just to stop any further litters. It doesn't help that the mum has been wooing the boys again-she is such a floozy.

Mar - you should be able to get the muffin tins anywhere - I use the my six hole Yorkshire pudding tin, which is the same thing. It's the deeper of the two main types of bun tins that shops normally sell

This is the size , but you should be able to get a cheaper one!

yep Mrs C, Mar I too use my 4 big yorkshire pud tin for said quiches. Mine was from Amazon last year. i try to find it for you but I guess any homeware store would do 'em.

edit: Thank you for the council tax info. I have emailed to request. i suspect it will take a telephone call but if can be arranged via email it will make my life so much easier. £20 is a lot and I never really notice the 'bonus' in the early part of the year.
  • He Who Knows tells me that we pay ours over 12 months too!!! Apparently it is 'traditional' to have the 10 month payments and two months free but councils have over the past couple of years introduced the 12 month scheme as it has been in demand, so ask and hopefully ye shall receive!! Cheers Lyn xxx
