live the nordic side of xmas, never knew what the goat meant thank you.
If you have any recipes please could I have them too.

Can't sleep, been told of by my friend for giving out my number. It wasn't in s nasty just very concerned in a lovely way. Thinks I might be, taken to much on and, thinks giving out my number to strangers will add to much stress.
Shes right I reassured her that I only gave it out,to two people. Shes sighed relief when I told her. Poor thing was so worried about me and she thought something was wrong.

Well got lots of forms to fill out as well as the coffee morning to host. Should be good though got a few newbies coming hopefully.
One is my friend who I havent seen for ages.

Monnogran good luck with somerset x

Monnagran - have a lovely time in Somerset, it really is a beautiful place :)

Stiltwalker - yes we have to tie our tree to the wall behind, usually in three places, I bought invisible stuff to make it look a little less intrusive :)

Its back to normal here today, one drop off done at half seven and now the others are all sitting quietly ready to go out at 8.30 not sure how they managed to be so ready this morning, think the promise of tablet time while they wait has helped, DD7 has demanded her hair be straightened before school as she wants to look good. I think we have now hit the teenage years early!!

Have to take DS9 for an eye test and new glasses this morning as well, I hate doing it as he isnt very co-operative and usually OH can come along and help distract him, obviously thats not an option this time. My friend is going to take DS15 into his unit for me as the times clash.
Then its off on a welly hunt, school text this morning to say DD7 needs wellies in school for tomorrow morning - hers dont fit, so mad dash this morning to buy new ones.

This afternoon I am photographing all the kids in DS9 school for a calendar, something I was supposed to do two weeks ago but just havent been able to fit in. Then after school DD7 has swimming lessons and then straight back to school as she is a helper for open evening.

So its all go again, house doesnt look good, but it will have to wait, its a mad week altogether and what hasnt been dont is likely to be left till next weekend. Thankfully I feel better for resting at weekend, and while not fully fit I am miles better than Friday :)

Glad you have had a rest Kidcat, even a little one!

I love love love Christmas. We will be at home Christmas morning this year, as spending Christmas lunch/afternoon at DH's parents. Then Boxing Day we'll go down to Kent to my parents for a couple of days. We have a new dog now though, so not quite sure what's happening with her. She's a cocker spaniel called Lottie whose owner had to go into a care home, and since we are her third (and final) home this year alone, I really don't want to put her into kennels. Taking her to my parents is not an option as my mum is petrified of dogs. We're hoping a friend will have her. Luckily Christmas presents have become a bit more of an option as the insurance paid out for Nettle the giant rabbit's eye problems so we have £300 back in our account. Very welcome since DH is now officially unemployed, he had his last day on Friday. It has made him rather anxious again it seems, so I'm really hoping he doesn't get bad again.

    Morning all

Possession - sorry to hear DH is out of work again, hope he finds something soon. Lottie is gorgeous, I'm not a doggy person but she's so adorable.

Kidkat - lots of cups of tea and sit downs between all this rushing around please!!!

Off out to do some bits and bobs this morning, it's raining (what a shocker) so I'll be soaked getting DHs scooter in and out the car umpteen times. Hey ho.

McCulloch there's a big group on Ravelry called "Knit Like a Latvian" and they're doing the most beautiful designs, you could join in there and get patterns/ideas for knitted xmas decs.
I personally hate xmas, and have done since my kids grew up. I'm not christian and not religious but it annoys me to hell how meaningless a festival it has become. I can watch and appreciate the beauty & spirituality of midnight mass, but not the adverts, the hysteria, the greed and the mindless buying. I wish I could afford to take off to somewhere they don't celebrate it!
But I love New Year, I love to stand outside in the darkness looking at the stars and wondering what this year will bring and whether it will be a good one. I wish I could get up the hills and stand on the top and see the new year come in - but the RV would think that very very mad LOL!
  • We always wassail the apple trees with homemade cider in our solstice celebrations, if the neighbours ever needed confirmation of our eccentricities that's when they get it!!!
  • Morning all.

I have OH home today. Still no better with this tummy bug!! Again been up all night. I swear I’m really missing sleep now.

Having broken sleep since Friday isn’t good at all.

Today I’m planning on getting this clutter moved once and for all. I keep planning on doing it but something else always gets in the way.

I managed to get hold of my council tax department this morning and its good news! We have finally cleared our huge debt. Now we have to decide whether we want to keep making token payments to be in credit next year. I wanted to snowball this money onto another debt, But I have been given a choice of lowering the repayments to still be able to split monies to each debt.

It feels amazing. One down, Still many to go - But the feeling is great.
Still waiting to hear from the television company. I was assured on Saturday when I called them that someone will be calling me today.

Also, Another shocker. This morning, I checked our banking. It seems that the inland revenue have had a change of heart and we received a payment of £245.90. Not sure what its for yet, Because we haven’t had any contact from them to explain where this payment has come from. So, Until we do, We’re not touching it just to be safe. But it seems listening to you wise lot brings good luck! So I thank you,….

On Christmas, Where do I start…? My favourite time of year. I love everything about it. From the Christmas smell to the bright sparking lights. I am NOT a fan of all the ott present buying! I hate opening gifts period. But I must admit that I do like giving.

This year we have again been offered to attend many Christmas day dinners, Which has caused quite a few arguments with me & the OH.

Brother & SIL has invited us to their home this year. But everyone is worried that its asking too much of them at present. (Old timers on here with understand why) So, I’m thinking of holding a pre-Christmas day dinner at mine on Christmas eve. Then spending the actual day with OH family.

    That way everyone is happy.

I am always ott with decking my house out. Not great on the old electric - But its once a year I believe that families should play together & enjoy one another. That’s my ideal Christmas.

I am also planning a trip for loads of us to go to bath Christmas market as we’ve been told its amazing. It will be nice to attend with our families having some quality time together. Has anyone ever been? I would love to her your experiences there?
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

Hi everyone, well another week begins. Youngest DD has called and the collage have given her a much needed extension for her unit, it has been extended until end of Feb next year. Her work experience placement has been cancelled due to her operation too.

I popped into work, just for a chat.... I have been assured that I will nearly always not be working with said collegue who I reported, my manager said he thinks if she returns she may be awkward so I will be kept away as much as possible.

I also arranged for cover for Friday, just incase mum is at the hospital longer. This will be the second time she has been recalled for a follow up after her breast screening.

I treated myself to a craft magazine this morning, it has some felt bits to make too and lots of ideas for CHRISTMAS decorations!!!! Ive cleaned up and done the washing so time for me now to have a read of it and attempt to make something!

    take care everyone x

    Hello everyone

Missed reading for a day or two and now tons to catch up on! Will have to re-read this eve. I did get that:

Kidcat is in bed and has left OH in charge (whilst ordering Xmas pressies) - please keep up the bed rest and get well soon

Hope the other poorlies feel better soon, Mrs LW, cornishchick I think, Princess and blast have forgotten the other names already. Anyway get well soon all of you.

I popped to Hallyfords after school run to get a new bulb. Paid to have to put in and could have kicked myself when I saw how easy it was to do. Having said that I have done other bulbs before but the last time I couldn't get the brake light in for love nor money, ended up rattling around the plastic casing.

Planned to pop in to nearby Asdaars for bread quickly and they had a clothes sale on and I ended in there for ages. Also found some catfood on offer and other bits and vowed to go there more often in my bid to keep our budget in order. Store did the 2 min silence, I find myself a quiet spot as I always well up. 99% people stood quietly, a couple of plonkers rattled their trolleys around the aisles still .

Got myself a well needed smart, long coat reduced from £36 to £20 and it fits/suits me, so no more shivering :j. Just need some boots now, dreading the cost especially as not much choice with my tree trunks :rotfl:. Picked up several tops and a sweatshirt for DS9 now and in the next size too and a jumper, top and trackies for me all good reductions. So nice to have some new clothes for a change, though I love my charity shop finds.

Had all the odds and ends no-one wants for lunch and very nice too. Right no more waffling for me, off out again to do some errands in town. A mountain of dirty dishes will await me after school pickup, lovely :D

SQ I have 'fat' calves as my hubby says. I also like wider fitting shoes, mainly for comfort. We went into primarnie and I got some boots from there for £20. They do a wider range in shoes/boots now, in this wider range.

Failing that I usually try the sale section in fashion world website.

    Hope it helps someone.
