Morning toughies
(((Big hugs))) to those with family/health/money worries, seems to be quite a few of us at the moment!
I've nearly worked my notice at PT job number 2, will have less money but more time for family - I know which means more right now. Budget is quite tight, but not desperate, and after nearly 30 of marriage with modest earnings at the best of times I can manage on what we've got. I left one of my chatty, spendthrift friends speechless when I told her I can save a bit out of my tax credits most weeks - we aren't materialistic and I shop fairly thriftily - feel guilty sometimes that I can do this - do we need the money? We do qualify for what we receive, but I feel bad sometimes that other people seem to struggle!
The black dog is rearing its head this week, but am trying to boot it away - despite the carp weather etc we are upright and breathing and that will have to be good enough for today!

Good morning all,
Had stressful week as I have had nasty cold and so as OH and with challenging DS and work am shattered! Kez, I would not be as forgiving as you! Sorry but she would have it both barrels!
Never spent any time up North - furthest North I've been is Doncaster.Durham sounds nice and my uncle lives in Lancaster and he is always saying we should visit - we should actually because since my lovely nan died there is no reason really for him to travel the 5 hour journey to Wales except to see my dad.Sad really as we are a close family but all scattered about the country and life gets in the way of keeping it that way! Especially when you lose important family members!0 -

Hope you get on top of it...I have had a couple of bad times earlier in life so can totally understand. It was a different type of depression when Mum passed away. Its more than just feeling down which we all have from time to time. Wednesday was a day like that for me but when the afternoon came I improved and have been ok since.StressedOutMummy wrote: »Sad really as we are a close family but all scattered about the country and life gets in the way of keeping it that way! Oh so true...and this also ties in with all the talk these past days about many people being isolated and lonely. And the G'ment doesn't get it. Lots of their policies makes matters worse and some of the reasons you give are why people are not able to give support to their loved ones.
Equally, there are still many who are doing all that they are able in their community. What our PM calls the "Big Society" no its just that some of us have compassion for our fellow man.

The government gets the blame for everything these days. We have to take responsibility for the decisions we make individually and how they effect societal values that are forever changing and will always do so. We can't blame the government for every little thing that has changed.
My dad died when I was little. My mam choose to not address the grief and became an alcoholic. My childhood was fraught. I rebelled that childhood and learned a different coping mechanism based on what others were doing - borrowing to achieve. I was a bankrupt. I lost my home. I got a rental in a place I didn't belong as it was all I could get. I am moving away from family out of choice.
Non of that has anything with any policy the government has made. It's circumstance and what individuals choose.0 -
I hope you dont mind me joining you all, I have been lurking and reading for along time.
I am 57 and my OH is retired. I have had to leave work through ill-health.

Welcome Nana!
How are you feeling this morning Kidcat? I hope your OH is apologetic, although I'm not holding my breath. I do think you did the right thing, but I know conflict like that can be so wearing. Give yourself as much of a rest as you can.
PrincessWell done on the dentist!
Well I'm pleased to say my observation lesson went fine. It wasn't my best, but considering I'm ill and the facilities are absolutely inadequate, I think I made the most of it. And, my observer has said he will make a note of how bad the facilities are on my review.
OH has two week's half term now, so he is promising to pick up most of the cooking and cleaning so I can get well and catch up on things I'm a little behind on. This is very nice, although he has already cleaned the dining table with a spray that I'll now have to wash off. Still, he means well and this time I might just do it while he is out for a run. He does seem to have learnt his lesson on bleaching the bathroom as he double checked with me what he was going to do to make sure it was right this time.:rotfl:
Hugs to any and all who need them.x0 -

I'll give you that:)but policies can make it easier or more difficult for people to be able do more to make society better or worse. They make the frame work. Of course we also have to play our part too."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
