The funniest noise in the world happens when the comfortably fed husband takes to his customary seat on the sofa and starts to read his newspaper, no, it wasn't anything written in there, it came just after the lurcher positioned himself dead centre in front of the newspaper and then with one bound went through the middle of it in a bid to be the biggest, gangliest lap dog in the world!!! and the scream given by the comfortably fed husband on this happening is the funniest sound in the world EERRRGGGGGGAAARRGGGGLLLLLLLEEEOFFFFFFFFFF!!! I'm so badddd!!! Lyn xxx.0

pops glad you had a good night. Walnut and date bread is lush, and when heated tastes a bit like sticky toffee pudding very moreish
Still annoying what hasn happened Kez but you are doing well accepting matters and dealing with it. But of course it will take time to "let it go" totally.
The supermarket on my town doesn't sell/make that bread so looking forward to it. I may make one myself:p
I had three slices of toast and marmalade this morning...I'd forgotten how nice toast is...
Thank you, The Town Hall concerts are good value and if spaced out(and as I am spending less on other things)I just redirect the money not spent in another direction(whilst I can)
Another price hike on energy bills:mad:I am not with British Gas but they keep asking me to "Come back!" This on top of the earlier increase by Scottish Power this month. I signed up with NPower until 2017 only on Monday...no penalty clause and though £3.50 a month more expensive no doubt the best idea...no prices reduce but if they do I can change it. Also £100 discount over the year. This week my housing association took me to court over rent arrears. After taking into account that there were 3 weeks of housing benefit due to be paid i was only in arrears by 2 weeks, so just over £200.
I'll admit I cried on the phone(though I am pretty good at sorting out difficult situations)but it was just after I'd lost Mum and they wrote saying I was 5 weeks in arrears. I wasn't but like you I wondered why they took that long to flag up the problem. It took some sorting. The error was at the DWP/Council level. Thankfully court was not mentioned. No real apologies though for any distress caused.
I haven't checked the temperature but I feel warmer indoors today, I'm sorry but I am staying close to my bed...not depressed but its easier and cosier listening to the radio that way than sitting in a chair. But I do get up and do things, I do go out. I do tidy myself up. And make meals.

Who knew? I have had email from my internet service provider telling me that there has been a request from the people moving into my house in 3 weeks time to cancel my broadband and that I will be charged £45 in order to do so as it will be breaking my contract!
Can you not take the business to the new address so in theory not breaking it. I believe I am allowed to move mine. I'm locked into a three year agreement."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I can pops, and I will... It's just I very nearly had the rug pulled out from underneath me. Just as well I'm on the ball. I've been reading a bit about it and apparently people tell fibs about their move in date in order to ensure they have Internet in place by the time they're in. ISP take their word and arrange it by contacting whoever runs the line and requests it be cancelled. My provider told me of the request and its been up to me to halt it.0

Just read Lyn's post - I can imagine very large dog on a much smaller lap! Just about to pot up Pear Chutney - now tell me why did I decide to do it on my fast day when the smell is crying out for a lump of mature cheddar to go with it????
Bye the way Mrs L - Pushkin has just pushed DH sideways in his chair so she can snuggle alongsideDH looks grumpy & the cat is purring like an outboard!!

Afternoon all,
SQ Thanks for asking. I still feel pretty rotten, actually although I managed a good night's sleep so that must have helped. I made it through teaching this morning although needed a cough sweet to keep from coughing on the poor students. I also made my train home so I've got a long afternoon ahead planning for tomorrow. Its my observation lesson so I'm going to have to figure out something snazzy to distract from not being able to talk without coughing!
Fuddle I had no idea ISPs were so aggressive. I always try to put in a request fairly early as I once moved in somewhere where the previous tenant didn't bother to cancel anything (I don't think he could pay the bills or did a flit or some such) it took me a month to get it sorted which is a long time when working from home. In future I'll try to make clear that they shouldn't bullying current tenants until around their actual move out date!
Kez That sounds like it was a tough conversation but well done. It also sounds like although he is upset your OH is on your side and will support you while the two of you get it sorted together.
Lyn:rotfl::rotfl:
Right, I'd better get a cuppa and get down to work. I've done some of the initial stuff but need to get it all set.
Hugs from afar to any who need them!0 -
Kezlou - well done on telling your OH. You and him against the world, that's how it should be.One life - your life - live it!0

Possession: After reading your post I went downstairs and had another look at Solihull. The Rev is right, the church looks as if it was made for her and the description of the manse looked pretty good as well. On the strength of this we have moved that church up into the top 5 for consideration. See what posting on here does for you!
Esther: It's quite a story. I was a busy person in the church that was the Rev's first post. She was on her own, in a place she didn't know and I took her under my wing. (I was always bossy.) We did a lot of work in the church together and as I was also on my own by that time we started going out to places on her day off and sharing holidays. When I sold my cottage she invited me to stay with her while I looked for another house. I found another house just at the time my DS2 broke up with his girlfriend so he moved into my new house and I stayed with the Rev. And we have been together ever since. Everywhere we go we have to assure people that we are not in "that" sort of relationship. Some people are really disappointed! I think most folk like to put people into boxes, but much though I love her we have no desire for that sort of box!
Thanks for asking. A lot of people regard us in a wondering sort of way and I suppose it is a bit unusual.
I have given up on the decluttering and have resorted to making the clutter into tidy piles. It looks much better now. Amazing how heaps of stuff all over the floor looks quite disgusting but put the heaps in to tidy piles or nice neat boxes and the room looks transformed. I know it's not the permanent answer but these are desperate times.
I was expecting to have the rest of this week and all next week to get myself, the bunting and the house ready for vistors and the wedding. The Rev informed me just now that we have visitors for lunch tomorrow, we are going out Saturday, Sunday is the usual write-off, we are out all day Monday and Tuesday, I'm doing lunch for 60 on Wednesday on my own as my partner is on holiday. That gives me Thursday and Friday to do 10 days work in.

MONNAGRAN what a lovely friendship between you and the Rev, real friendship is like an open fire in winter, the fact that it happens makes us all feel a bit warmer and comforted from knowing it exists, that is lovely!!!
I can think of a few people I'd like to put in a box!!! or is that not what you meant? Lyn xxx.0 -
Thanks MONNAGRAN, I had been wondering for a long time but didn't like to ask. Very nosey really. At first I thought she was your daughter but then worked out she wasn't. I had a look in the introduction thread but you weren't there - not stalking honestly. Anyway, thanks for answering.
KEZLOE: glad you told your Oh, the pressure of trying to keep it to yourself would have been too much.
GAILEY: If your reading, how are you doing?
Hope everyone has a good evening and some 'me' time
