Burtha - so pleased for you that the news was better than expected. As my mantra - small miracles. Big Hug

Mar I don't know what drookit means. But I'm presuming it doesn't mean lovely sunny day.
Burtha, so glad it was much better news than it could have been. What a relief.
Monnogran what a spoilsport, I was planning on setting up some kind of boiled cabbage seminar, with possibly pickled cabbage workshops too. Do you not have room for them then?
It's a yukky old day here (although not drookit as far as I know). DD is in the doldrums because her friend's hamster has died. DS is being a typical secondary school student and refusing to wear any kind of waterproof or warm clothing. I am huddled by my computer repeating my mantra "I will not turn the heating on until November, I will not turn the heating on until November!"

Another one popping in to say I'm so pleased that the news isn't too bad - I had to think for ages how to phrase it, but I'm sure you know what I mean. At least you know what you are dealing with now ....

I am currently on sick leave with the b****r that is RA. I take so many drugs that I rattle as well as an IV infusion that is supposed to confuse the immune system but it still leaves me absolutely whacked out...

Re: funny food names. My lovely old dad always asks for Kate and Sydney pie and in this house we often have 'boiled leggies and soldiers' for breakfast! Shepherd Spy is a favourite and we always call it 'slunch-time' as in 'it's lunch time'. In the days when I used to take the kids to church, we would always collapse in a fit of silent giggles when the vicar announced 'Lettuce Spray'.... think about it!!!

  • Morning all.

Burtha. Sounds like a good result for you hun. Just remain strong & positive!! We’re all here. Hug for you!!

Nutty, I also watched this documentary & I was sat screaming at the screen during most of it.
I cant understand how these people really get away with it. Her comment about £500 after she had paid all her bills, tax, Ni was insulting. This was also the same women who had 2, yes 2 tv packages, V!rgin & sky in her property so that they can “choose” what they want to watch.

They also kept making a point that they was a disabled couple unfit for working, However at one point they was running around to “play fight” with one another and laughing & joking. I know illness can be hiden, But I couldn’t spot on sign of any disability.

I know many people on benefits because they have been unlucky during these tough times and have lost hours or their jobs completely. They rely on their benefits to keep their heads afloat & their children fed. Yet these people can be on national television flaunting the fact their milking the system and its okay.
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy
  • FPK if you are brave enough to try a scientifically proven cold cure that actually helps eating raw onion and garlic is proven to work as they contain allicins which are antibacterials and do help see off a cold. Hot honey and lemon drinks sooth a sore throat and boost vitamin C levels which helps your immune system kick in and bed for the day with a hot water bottle will heat you up enough (on top of the heat from the cold) to help see off the feverish symptoms too. However there are certain elements of this cure that are definately antisocial so you might just want to stick to plan A without the smelly socks!!! Hope you feel better soon pet, Lyn xxx.
  • Thanks Lyn. I tried raw garlic once, and I'm not sure doing that with onion as well is a good idea before two full days of teaching! The HW bottle is a good idea and one I hadn't thought of. Off to fill one up!

Burtha - glad to hear your news, not ideal by any means but manageable and definitely on the positive side.

Hugs to the poorlies this morning.

I have tons to do after my blood tests and feeling a bit more upbeat so want to press on. A friend who has been a bit wrapped up with another friend has texted me to meet up. She has worded text in such a way I know she feels a bit guilty not having been there for me lately. I am fine with her but want to reassure her. In a mini dilemma as really planned to get on with stuff today and would rather see her on one of my down days but don't want her to stew. I think I will try and drop by for a quick cuppa after the hospital (famous last words!) and then dash home to do a few chores before school run.

There answered my own dilemma by typing thoughts here... thanks guys!

best drink me coffee and get going. expecting a long wait at the hospital as usual. Foggy and grey here with rain forecast all day.... yuck :p

    take care everyone

Well apart from the C5 programme being another to annoy many, harden the public's opinion against the mainly genuine people, appearing on that programme should see those who took part being put under closer scrutiny and their abusing of the system halted.

So how stupid that they agreed to take part in it. If you were doing what has been said, you'd keep your head down.

It came in for a lot of stick on Twitter.

You can't be happy all the time but why do I feel down today? I am unable to pinpoint the reason, just accepting that it is so and hope it will leave eventually, its too cold and nasty to need to go out. Its not very warm indoors either 14c/58f but if I stay near the duvet or put more clothes on its ok.

See I should not feel down as there is a concert tonight(others would love to be going out)so I am fortunate. A group playing Blue Grass. So that's got to cheer me up for a couple of hours.

Though only 20 mins away I have to leave here almost 90 minutes early to get there comfortably. Usual reason.

Had I been home I would have listened to or watched Paul McCartney(Radio 2)Cilla Black tribute on ITV but I'll record one and watch the other on the net later.

I did not realise they would clash with the concert. Not one of my favourite singers "Our" Cilla but its quite a milestone and I think of the 60's and the pop groups of that time.

Think I'll cheer myself up with some fruit and porridge soon. Perhaps some toast. And a coffee.

I've had raw galic once(prefer to put it in a meal raw/or cooked/roasted. Or cheat with odourless capsules.
