I don't know how old your parents are, but there are grants available for upgrading insulation, heating for people on a low income/pension etc, might be worth a look.

Oh yes but my parents are simply too tight to pay for any upgrades - they have pots of money:(
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Hi everyone :)

PRINCESSX87 I share the same attitude towards clothing, especially at night. DH is often not impressed with the combinations I come up with at bedtime.

burtha Have a huge hug (((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) In fact have two or three hundred or as many as you want. You are so strong.

    Get well soon nuttyp

Well I am doing ok at the moment. A few wobbles here and there, but mostly ok. I'm still worried about money, but I know I am far from alone in that and that we are much better off than lots and lots of people.

Tonight's dinner turned into an experiment after I defrosted ragu instead of chilli at lunchtime. So mac and cheese with a layer of ragu at the bottom. DH and DS1 liked it, DS2 and I prefer them separate.

I have sorted out my fabric stash and have an awful lot of fabric that I think seems suitable as lining material, just not much outer fabric. As a novice sewer I don't really have a clue about fabric weights and their uses.
I have a list of people to make Chr*stmas presents for and was in a minor panic. However thanks to Frugal Mummy's blog I have an idea of what to make for some of them. http://scribbit.blogspot.co.uk/2007/09/book-purses.html
I love these and have access to old hardback books and handbags at work. I think some of the men I buy for are going to get Chr*stmas stockings with small presents in them. Kids will get bags with the same. Now I just need to make the things.....Help! *insert a panicked, nail biting smilie here please*
I'm in work tomorrow and will resist bringing home a ton of stuff then.

    Take care everyone xxx

PX87 - are they true white? If so you could use sterilising fluid on them

What was it P chocolate in white cotton.

I wouldn't try bleach as the white maybe stained white, bleaching the stain may leave a cream patch on the cotton.

You're best bet is bicarb soda pasta rubbed on. Leave for an hour, rinse then launder. I would think there would still be a stain but bicarb paste over and over with hanging on the line in sun (fat chance!) will help dissolve that stain each time.

It might be worth an invest in vanish stain remover. That might just help better than the bicarb

Princess: An overnight soak in Nappisan and another trip through the washing machine has never failed me yet.

Lovely day here today, not that I've seen much of it. Had a lovely day with DGS & DGD. Mia (12 months) is walking about just steadying herself by touching someone's finger. It is so moving to see the great love one autistic 12 year old and one 1year old tiny girl share. She sits with her head in his lap and he strokes her hair. It's beautiful. The Eddie Stobart cake was very well received and he has taken it all back home with him.

I've done most of the other things I had planned for today. Just a bread and butter pudding to get ready for cooking tomorrow and some prayers to write for the Rev's evening service. With a bit of luck and a following wind I'll be in bed with my book before 10.00pm.

PX87- try vanish soap, soak the stain in cold water then rub in soap, leave for a while to soak. If that doesn't work I have done a combination of above then soaking overnight in vanish oxy stuff then repeat above, gets most stains out

Monnagran - we bought DD19 an eddies membership last year and she loves spotting the trucks, it has also got DS15 interested and he is now much more involved than she is.
Has your DGS been introduced to minecraft yet?
  • Thanks mona & all.

Another question. Does anyone know if there is such a company (Ideally butcher style) that delivers meat? OH just asked me as we're spending a fortune in supermarkets but walk away with no decent meat what so ever. Doesn't help we don't drive and most meat markets are on a sunday when buses are on a go slow? Long shot maybe? x

    Evening all!

Burtha - you are amazing :T.

Everyone else - take hugs :o, I know most of you need them and I will forget someone!

Fuddle - meant to say, the stain came out of my white linen blouse, and I was able to wear in on holiday, so thank you! Was the bicarb, a tiny bit of bleaching and some Oxy paste. I would try it on the jeans Px.

My finger is still swollen like a sausage, and I can hardly bend it. This will curtail any jewellery making , it's a vital finger! I don't think the infection is spreading, it is less red and not so painful today. I hope it goes down soon...

Back from Cornwall, the house was cold and felt damp so the CH went on for the first time, and we have a fire, so it is very toasty tonight. We are doing quite well with oil (hot water and heating), only by being really strict with using it, so I doubt it will be going on again for a while!

Is anyone with EDF? Do you know if you can fix to 2017 if you are already in a fix to 2014?
