The trouble is Bigjenny - whatever sort of hair you have you want something else. I completely 'get' Mrs Chip's need for curls as I too have poker straight hair and have always envied those with a wave or a curl. On this subject however, naughty lady Mrs Chip - I am now having to resist the temptation to google curl machine!!!
Horse riding this morning and then DH off to Leeds for his first tutorial for his new module so got a busy day ahead.
Catch you all later - hugs X0 -
It's made by Babyl*** Stiltwalker, but I warn you now, you will want one, so best not to look! OH has offered to buy for birthday/xmas, and I am soooo tempted, but my OS head is saying no!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Good morning. Long time lurker and VERY occasional poster here (have been reading since the very first 'tough' thread and posted about 4 times!)
Sorry to intrude on the thread and go off at a complete tangent but I am looking for some advice.
I am sure I remember a discussion on here about cat breeds that were particularly affectionate or good with children on the autistic spectrum - I think it might have been kidcat or possession who had an exotic sounding breed ?
We are looking to get a kitty for our eldest grandson who has ASD and would be very grateful for any advice from you lovely toughies.
Thanks in advance (scuttles back to lurkdom)0 -
Hi Bobbykins!
I think the soppy breed is Ragdoll, they are so laid back they don't mind being fussed. If I am wrong I'm sure one of the others will be along to give you the right info!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
I just looked at it, looks very clever but how easy would it be to use on yourself? All the videos (admittedly I didn't look at many) show someone else doing your hair for you....would Mr Chip be obliging?
My hair is poker straight and silly fine so I keep it seriously short and shove loads of wax on it to keep it from sticking up at right angles to my head.
Kidkat - didn't realise your DD was about to turn 18, has she gone to Uni early? Hope she has a lovely day on Tuesday.
Full house here as DDs BFs stayed last night, I've been doing breakfast in sittings as they wake up. Need to do a quick tidy round once I can persuade everyone to go home as I've got the Inlaws coming for dinner this evening. They've requested one of my lovely chillis so a nice easy meal and won't take long to throw together."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
bobbykins - Cranky has a korat who is incredibly sensitive to her son, she also has a borat which is a korat burmese mix and incredibly naughty
Ragdolls are also incredibly soppy and ideal lap cats, and a friend of mine has two for her auties.
Another friend has just bought a british shorthair and that is proving a hit with her auty son and is very affectionate and cuddly.
Pooky - she is 19 this week, 18 last year. But I have absolutely nothing to give her on the day at all, so need a couple of small tokens for the day0 -

Very upsetting event yesterday as Poppy dog bit Molly dog and it was totally unexpected and never happened before. Having examined the scenario we think it is because Pops cannot see out as she is very furry so have cut her eyebrows this morning. Pops showed instant signs of remorse so I do hope and pray it is a one-off. I have never had this happen in a whole life-time of dog ownership and Pops and Molly have been firm friends for 8 years:(
It does happen from time to time even with the best of mates if there is a provocation, it's more of a putting in the place than malice intended, but sometimes like any badly thought through act of aggression from any of us, the consequences are worse than intended :P Ask my Roxie how she ended up with a pierced ear?

The difference a few hours make...this morning has a different feel:)for many of us. You can see I did not get away so everything is pointing to me setting time aside to bake:pand ptter around. Of course it would have been nice to go somewhere but I had a nice sleep and feel quite rested.
I need some cutters for making cookies and gingerbread men etc...not much choice on the town/supermarkets but that place in Durham may be the answer. I'm ok for trays/loaf tins/cases for cup cakes/cakes etc...
I saw someone mention Blackpool lights, don't believe I'll make them but I have a ticket for the following event(if I take it easy and I sit here and there)in November. I have one ticket for one night(I hope it doesn't rain)and I only have the one so I hope the camera has enough power for plenty of images.
However there is another event that is a bit more like Blackpool perhaps? I have not been to before near Sunderland in Roker Park No ticket needed and I could visit a couple of times if its that good.
I always have to allow plenty of time to be sure I can connect to a bus to get me home. At least with Durham I have a final bus at 22.30pm and with Sunderland I have to leave no later than 9pm so just as well that by the end of October it is dark quite early otherwise it would be no good for me. The disadvantages of public transport. I wish there were some special coach trips laid on...
Some good reductions there Gailey...even here they never get that cheap because by the time they would be priced that low, they've usually been snapped up earlier in the day, still a bargain but often still quite high in price.
