Me as well. Can't bear hot bedrooms. OH and I play "draughts" with the window all night, me opening it, and him shutting it. More than that, the wind howling round the house irritates him and I find it soothing :rotfl: I like long sleeved t-shirt nighties, sadly hard to find, and if I am cold in the winter, I have a couple of micro fleeces that I got really cheap and I pop one of those on, can't bear anything on my legs!

Peacocks had some nice fleece poncho/bedjacket things. I bought a leopard print one for me, and a bit later saw a turquoise one with monkeys and bananas which I bought for DD I thought it would be perfect for night time feeds. She says it is...think they still have some. They weren't dear.

Delivered my Pasties, went to the bank, trolled the charity shops, came back with a white china horse head originally from Ikea, quite nice. Met up with my GF's in town for tea, and DD came too and we played pass the parcel with baby! I took DD shopping in Mr T after that, they had some bargains, I've been waiting for reduced pears, so I can makes some pear and ginger chutney so loaded up with them :T I also got bananas cheap...so will bung them into the freezer. I picked up the stuff I need to make a trial GF Xmas cake, that I spotted online, it looked like a bit of a cross between my Lemon Berry cake which is polenta and ground almonds, and the Spanish Orange cake, which is also almonds but has whole boiled oranges in. This Xmas cake has mixed fruits but the base is boiled clementines, and spices. Will make that, and a GF trial of Pop's Banana and cranberry loaf tomorrow! Also booked Mattie in for her annual vaccinations at the vet tomorrow afternoon - deep joy, I will probably have to carry her up the hill from DD's - she will know where we are headed!

Came home and we had hot smoked mackerel from the market for tea(£1.25 each) with two bunches of griddled asparagus (reduced to 98p a bunch) and a poached egg, and toast. :) Bit of a treat!

    Evening All,
Where to start...managed to sleep most of the day away...also had more weird dreams, The other night it was mainly that I was on a shipwreck, today nothing seemed to make sense but Christine Hamilton and her husband were in some of it! Why?

Its rained all day...I missed the bus to the bingo club but managed to get there 5 mins late...well I would've if I had not taken a wrong turning and there were no alleyways to connect to where I wanted to be so I arrived even later:mad: I was walking into a kind of woodland area which had no lights, so had to turn around and go back the way I had come.

But I managed to get there for the second half...spent £3.50 for a raffle ticket and bingo books but won £7 so at least I was not out of pocket.

Even with a heavy coat I was soaked and now I can hear its getting windy so I'll stay close to home tomorrow.

Sorry that many are having physical problems...My gran and her sister had a prolapse, my gran lived with it and her sister had her's fixed in a nursing home aged around 100 years old.

I did not think they could do that kind of thing without being in hospital...that's what they said it was but what do I know.

Brushed cotton sheets in Aldi's? I'll look out for them...thanks for the heads up.

Hope my recipe is a success...Even I may try it myself. I have had some lovely ginger shortbread made by my friend on the Farmers Market(it was very thin)and not very strong on the ginger. It was lovely so I may have a go at that soon...

Another one who wears nothing in bed (not even Chanel No 5!) a slightly shocking admission for a respectable lady in her mid-seventies. I do relent and wear a nightie when we go on holiday as I share a room with the Rev and wouldn't want to give her a fit of the vapours.
Although I like to be toastie warm in bed I can't bear a warm bedroom. The window always has to be open and my bed dragged up as near to it as possible. I once woke up to find that it was snowing and snowflakes were falling softly on my face. Not only that, there was quite a little snowdrift on my pillow.

You whine away, dear She: you have plenty to whine about and where better to let your feelings out? I always think that this is a safe place to be honest and, if necessary, vulnerable. There is such a wave of love and support when someone has reached the end of their tether that it is almost tangible.

Kidcat: I really worry about you. You must be running on empty by now and that is not good. Living to such a tight timetable will take its toll on your health eventually. Getting everyone to where they have to be must be a complete nightmare. Perhaps one day you will find someone who is doing the same run as you and you can work together on it. I know that I did it week and week about with another Mum. Having a whole week when I wasn't chasing my tail was absolute bliss. Fingers crossed that you find a solution before you disappear in a puff of smoke.

Well, I've made a start on the bunting for DS's wedding in 3 weeks time. I thought it would take no time at all to run up some long lengths. Ahem! One afternoon and I have done 14 triangles and not even got them attached to the tape. At this rate there will only be enough for one side of the room. Maybe I could wear it. I've not even thought about what I'm wearing. The bride's Mum has had her outfit for months now and been matching up shoes etc. As my clothes mostly come from the local CS's I will certainly give them the once over, you never know. I will most decidedly not be wearing anything that is too 'weddingy' and very definitely I will not be wearing a hat, absolutely NOT.
I have been writing this while talking to someone on the phone, good job it wasn't Skype, so apologies for anything that doesn't make sense.

I have to admit to being rather paranoid about electric blankets. A friend at uni's house practically burnt down because a housemate left the electric blanket on and it must have been faulty or something. I've never felt able to use one since which is silly as my parents do and their house is still standing.

I can understand your fear, there are much safer ones now with overheat cutouts. Mine has a timer on too so it switches off after 45 mins (by which time the bed is oh so toasty)

I wouldn't be without mine mainly because the OH is on medication that makes him hot and I am ill and very skinny and feel the cold terribly, so the dual control is ideal.... mind you if my foot strays to his icy side of the bed ..

(I have a new work laptop and it seems to have no pound symbol on it anywhere and all the other symbols are mixed up and not in their proper place on the keyboard, tis driving me crazy!).

It's set to American English. You just need to find the keyboard settings and change it. Should be in Control panel, then "clock country and region" or similar....
  • Hubby and I both sleep naked, but we are far from respectable, I like the window open so he shivers under 2 duvets whilst I sleep covered in just a sheet. Some good news, according to hubby I've stopped snoring since I lost so much weight, some bad news, I have a mammogram coming up, do I take my own magnifying glass or will they be able to find my boobs without?
All my illusions about myself were shattered yesterday, I have been received back at work with much joy and jubilation (lots of people are scared of the photocopiers) one of our BAC TA's saw me and said. 'I'm so glad you are back, I can't use your machines, last time I tried I got down on my knees beside the machine and prayed, I prayed so hard, I asked God to please return THE LITTLE OLD LADY who runs these machines'. I'm grateful for her prayers, but little old lady, I'm 62, less of the old please. I accept that the children think I'm old, but this lady is in her mid 40's!

Hester, re the boobs, take a map pet. With a couple of Xs on it. Re the "little old lady" female - I'd sabotage her machines permanently. And fit boobytraps. ;)
  • Morning Toughies, a very dull and overcast day here after a really windy night that was too warm by half. The birch trees down my neighbours garden boundary are still in full leaf and the wind was bustling about making them extremey noisy last night and I woke up so many times I'm feeling a bit jaded this morning as a result!!! No matter as I have my lovely DD1 coming for the weekend so something to look forwards to. We have nothing specific planned to do which is lovely as I think we sometimes rush about trying to do 'interesting' things when they come to visit so this time will just be home time and chatting and nice home cooked meals to give her a bit of a rest because she works very hard and gets very tired. Did anyone else see the interview with the single dad of 3 on the BBC this morning? where he earns over £50,000 and was bemoaning the fact that the government stopping his child allowance was going to disadvantage his kids because they used it to do all the things and trips that thier peers did? I was under the impression that the family allowance was for helping feed, cloathe and generally rear children, not as pocket money for goody sprees and treats? Obviously it is up to the individual to make the decision as to how these things are used but when most folks are struggling to keep body and soul together it just seemed to me to be typical of the malaise of 'It's my right' and 'everybodys kids do this don't they?' that has crept into society these days. They didn't look impoverished on screen and the house looked pretty OK too so why should they be feeling hard done by? My kids couldn't have everything thier peers had but it certainly hasn't disadvantaged them and they both have university degrees and professional careers, maybe I'm being a bit unkind but it's hard for me to see that his need government subsidy in the first place? Lyn xxx.
  • Morning everyone

It's still grey down here in Dorset but at least the rain has stopped. I've got mountains of washing to be done so I'm hoping it holds off for the day.

Fuddle, slightly worried you've been MIA for a day or so......I hope my message didn't scare you off? Honestly, we're really friendly down on the south coast :)

I've decided that my first sewing project will be a draught excluder for the front door - surely that's easy enough even for me :)

Looking forward to the weekend (for a change!) - my daughter and her boyfriend are coming down from London as it's my OH's 50th birthday.......I do see her quite regularly but I miss her dreadfully.

Hope everyone else is well this morning - love to all xxxx
