SQ:T glad it all went OK, bet you are smiling this morning! And relax....

Just back from vet with Mr Puss. he was very good and quiet for his blood test, couldn't wait to get out of the basket when we got home. Test results should be back Monday then hopefully some thyroid medication will sort him out. he will need more blood tests (at nearly eighty pounds a time !!) to check the medication is working, then medication for life if it is. Poor lad, and good job i dont have to buy many Christmas presents this year as any spare money seems to be heading the vet's way.

Dd16 came home from college yesterday and says she needs safety boots for next week with steel toe caps fro doing her 'animal duties'. more expense.

Tea today is 'chuck it all in the pot soup' with all the odds and ends of bread to dip in, then maybe baked apples. I will carry on using up freezer stocks and doing small shops as needed to keep food bills down for a while.

I've been eyeing up a Vitamix blender as they are so versatile and there's so little wastage as you can use most fruit and veg whole with seeds and all, and the ability to produce quick soups, smoothies and desserts would suit our way of eating, but they are soooooo expensive. With Mr Puss's bills, I will have to carry on dreaming...

Have a good day everyone, hugs to those that need them.

What size does she need? We have a pair sent out to OH by mistake from his last job that are a smaller size. Happy to post them to you if they fit.

Possession - brushed cotton and flanelette are the same. They can take a while to dry during the winter but are lovely and warm to get into. I've got cotton sheets for summer and brushed cotton for winter, they make a huge difference.

SQ - glad it all went ok.

Kidkat - how is DD doing with Uni? Early days but is she enjoying it?

DD1 shocked me last night by asking if we can go look at our local Uni, after going further afield to look at the weekend she's realised the comforts of home might be more appealing. Fingers crossed she stays at home, it make so much more financial sense for her and will give her less debt when she finishes.

Off to sort out the wardrobe of doom that's in DD2s room. If I'm not back by 3pm send out a search party!

    Morning All

Warm wet and windy here - sounds like Kate's dogger!

SQ , glad everything is ok, it is such a worry.

Alfsmum - Our cat is on thyroid meds, tell me about the cost of blood tests! You can ask the vet for a prescription for the tabs (one puss is stabilised) and buy them online, it is much cheaper, even if the vet charges for the prescription. PM if you need more info.

Kate - what sort of pasties are you making?

    Have a good day everyone!

Thanks. Am wondering about the duvet sets - are they much warmer? Might as well get all the expense out of the way before DH becomes jobless I suppose, although am not sure that's the proper attitude. Moneysaving in a way though as I intend to have the heating on lower and less (haven't told them yet!).
Matalan had some plain jersey onesies in smaller sizes (boy colours if that matters) for only 5 pounds. Unfortunately for age 10 it went up to 12 pounds. (I have a new work laptop and it seems to have no pound symbol on it anywhere and all the other symbols are mixed up and not in their proper place on the keyboard, tis driving me crazy!).

Pooky I am not sure, I get the feeling she is disappointed to be honest, its freshers week and all the others are living in and up to all sorts whereas she is outside looking in. She isnt enjoying the commute either, its not as easy for her to travel in as we expected, local bus service not starting until after 9am is a major issue.
Am hoping once the course gets going she will settle and if she can pass her driving test I will buy her a small car to give her the indepenance.

I brought mine from the seller (Once you click on the link) although I cannot see them on their page now. Maybe nearer to the winter?

The are much warmer. You really appreciate them once the cold nights are apon us. Last year my mum used once of those sheets that’s just like a huge square (LOL don’t know what their called:rotfl:) and she just tucked that over the top of her duvet and it worked the same. x

I love my flannelette sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers! They really are toasty. I bought them for my children too and they actively search the airing cupboard for them when they feel cold at night.
I have a minor grrr.... I have been annonymously reported to social services for home educating my youngest daughter! Luckily, i have already met the EWO a few years ago when i home ed my elder girls for 18 months, so when she rang me just now we were able to have a laugh at people not doing there homework before reporting something that is totally legal.
I have also been invited to a Home ed coffee morning that she set up, although that isnt until december so that will be nice.

I might splash out thanks Princess.
Kidcat I guess not being resident there is a different experience, but I bet there are lots doing it these days. It will be better when she's made some good friends.

Today Mrs Chips, my pasties are being spicy butternut, kidney bean and spinach. Visually stunning mix :p but also tasty!
