Just been reading back a few pages,
Oh Gailey my heart goes out to you hun. I could have written that 20 years ago.
You are doing great....believe me, you will look back on this and wonder how you did it. I know I did LOL!
I have different challenges today, but my hard earned 'stripes' in my youth make them manageable.
You are such an inspiration. One of life's real troopers.0 -
Hi Mar
Ye gods and little fishes, they are really putting you through it aren't they.
My BIL used to turn up to do a quote after going to the pub and then produce said quote on the back of a fag packet! Yet he'd worked with my hubby who used to dress smartly to visit customers and who produced printed quotes on headed notepaper.

Morning toughies cant believe how hard it is for everyone at the moment and it just seems to get worse all around, surely we must be near the end of the tunnel now??
I discovered yesterday that my barely managed morning routine needs to tighten even further as DD18 starts uni next week and the bus she needs to get there only runs from the town centre, and there are no buses on our route that run early enough to get her to the centre in time for the bus to get her in for 9am on her early days.
Means I will now have to get everyone up and out into the car for 7.30 to drive her into town on the 9am days, which I foresee as being hellish, DS9 doesnt appreciate any changes to his routine and certainly not being rushed out so early either.
On the 10am starts I worked out a way to do it but it was so convoluted and destined to fail that I worked out I was better off just taking her to Uni on those days. But that means I am tied down until 10.30 every morning and literally driving all over for over two hours, goodness knows how bad the mileage will be.
Long term I dont think its sustainable, and I am hoping she gets through her driving test soon and we can buy her a tiny car to take the pressure off me.
As I said earlier surely we have to be at the end of the tunnel soon?0 -
Other son is fine and back at work! Albeit he is a supervisor and maybe he's not a hands-on anymore. We've got a daughter too, and whole family is holding breath waiting for her to do something spectacular
Lots of support in here for those in hard times Toughies, you lot make a terrific back fenceThis bl00dy govt is pulling out all stops on the working people, knocking us backwards at high speed, and I await the grand opening of a workhouse any day. We've already got the soup kitchen haven't we...although they are trendily called food banks.

((hugs)) mar - its good to hear your other son has managed to make such a speedy recovery at least.
Onwards and upwards ey?? Illegitimi_non_carborundum0 -
Oh dear Kidcat, I do hope you manage to come up with a workable plan, it's a nightmare when you are the one responsible for getting everyone from A-B. Maybe when your daughter has been there for a couple of weeks, she'll pal up with someone who lives nearby, or passes close to you in the mornings.
I'm up and porridged, maybe another tea would be good. DD is holding a Mcmmillan coffee morning this morning. So will be off there in a bit.
I managed to get all my things in town done yesterday, one of which was buying some white cotton...do you want the cheap stuff she said? No not really I replied, knowing that it breaks in the machine at twice the rate, so she says I'd be better off buying the 1000m reel of Coates - it's half the price she says - £7  a reel!!! What???!!!! I sometimes feel like I've gone down the rabbit hole and come out in a topsy turvey dimension where everything is out of reach. Anyway of course I bought it, along with some other stuff, and I did manage to get the felt beads that DD gave me for my birthday threaded last night. Super easy to do, and I calculate that the materials is about £8 but would make a super expensive looking pressie for someone. If anyone would like to see, let me know!
I''ve just been sitting here looking at the book people catalogue which came yesterday...they are trying to tempt me to the dark side with the booker prize selection again, they've also got a John Steinbeck set, which is tempting me, because I heard and interesting programme about him on Rad 4 the other day. Another heads up for anyone wanting a stunning pressie. They have the boxed set of Beatrix Potters back in stock, for £30 - RRP is £140 (I may have bought this last weekwith another 12% off to put away for a certain very small persons' christmas pressie!) £30 quid is quite reasonable for a lifetimes supply of suitably LOLable quotes. "I shall go DISTRACTED" being one of my all time favourites, and "all slippy sloppy in the larder and the back passage" (!) both from the tale of Mrs Tittlemouse :rotfl:`They've also got a DK make your own gifts, but I can't see any great detail of what it's got in it - I tried looking on Amazon, but it doesn't have look inside.
Also on whilst I am pontificating on crafts and books, next week Aldi are getting some DK craft books in. DD bought the knitting one before and it's FAB, she's been looking for the crochet one everywhere, and they will have them on Sunday. There are five, knit, stitch, sew, quilt and crochet. £3.99 each :j

I still havent had a bloody sweetie since the 25th June!!
And no, I havent got any more sons. I found out what was causing them and stopped it!! LOL
Now that was funny :rotfl: tell me, were you in your 30's when you discovered this? I seem to be following down the same path:rotfl:
Mar flaming 'eck woman. I'm relieved it was something and sort of nothing but... tell that to your heart! You need to hop off that emotional roller coaster now. Look after yersel
Baked spuds in the SC were a success!DH has took left overs for lunch and that is what I'm having too. Pah! to gadgets
although I have to say I will always have a food processor and there's times when I would like an electric whisk instead of my hand one but, now that's just lazy isn't it?! The spuds smelt 'different' when I took them out but smothered in butter and chilli they tasted quite nice.
Egg sandwiches? Am I right in thinking I should add a bit of powdered mustard to the mix? We're off visiting family before the move and I want to stink the car out:rotfl:

FUDDLE did you just put the potatoes in as they were or did you foil wrap them? and how long did you cook them for?
I always add a bit of mustard powder and a pinch of cayenne pepper to my egg mayo sandwich eggs and some celery salt if I have it, it gives the whole thing a lift. Have a nice visit with the family pet, enjoy, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
