I get to Aldi at about 9.15 and struggle to get a space because all the other Mum's have got there before me, having done their school run. I think Aldi is going from strength to strength. DH himself is a convert, he says the same - how can we not shop there when we're getting so much more for our weekly £40? I walk in there, list in hand, and know I won't stray far away from my budget.
Using frozen veg has been a big money saver here with frozen green beans being adored and scoffed as if they were fresh - the rest (veg not from Aldi BTW) not so popular but they do get eaten.
The nightly 'supper' is also a money saver because it means I can cut right back on the portion sizes and fill them up a treat before bed - also stops DH craving crisps and biscuits while watching TV so now no need to buy them
I'm in a confident and happy place re: my meal plan and finances now and 90% of it is because I can get more for my money at Aldi (even if I have to wait for a parking space)

Yes I am in a different place SQ and though of a sensitive nature(and I'll have my moments)we all do, much more positive, stronger and more my old self.
Don't beat yourself up, you do plenty for others too and sometimes we need time for ourselves emotionally. Want a hug too?
I like to sometimes just take off suddenly but if I was having someone call though I would welcome them, I prefer some warning.
Did I say? I saw Paul Jones of Manfred Mann(60's group some months ago)many of you are too youngwell he's doing a show locally at a community centre(smaller venue)with his wife(cheaper ticket)easier to get home if buses become difficult. But he's on the circuit talking about how important faith is in their lives. I can put up with that.

Hi gaiely
It is nice to hear from you again even if it is bad news. If I remember rightly you were always organised in the face of a crisis. Good luck with hubbys job interview. How is the baby?I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Evening Gailey. Lovely to see you post on here again but so sorry it's with a worrying set of circumstances.
I lurked in tougher long before I posted and remember thinking that for all your adversities in life you were strong and very self aware. You are one proactive lady! just one day at a time and by doing that you'll wade through it all, sorting and fixing the important issues of the moment.
Stay with us eh? I think, as Sheila says, it's good to get it off your chest in a place that will support you and maybe throw up a strategy or two.0 -
I finished DD's slippers
They are gorgeous, how did you make them?
Glad to hear your mums back home nutty
SQ I know exactly what you mean, i'm the same. Really when your not up to it, your best staying in the house.
Great ds2 is calling me, i'm required to watch primeval.
Back in a bit xx0 -
Ginny - woo hoo and congrats to the happy couple.
Gailey - good to see you back, sad to see it is in such circumstances, chin up lovey, you are always such a good cope-er,and you WILL make it through!! Remember us being pregnant at the same time back on some long ago tough thread - as it turned out we got a diagnosis of a rare genetic condition for our DD and little man has the same thing. He is now cruising the furniture and climbing everything but still a long way off walking and as for talking, he has a (very)small number of words and some Makaton signs but he'll get there in his own way at some point. His big sis started school this time and she's busy terrorising the parents on the playground in the morning by charging them in her walker!! - The other kids get out of her way but the parents are usually too busy yattering so get rammed!!
The kids let us all have a big lie in this morning so that will hopefully help a little this week. Then we had a trip over to PILs after lunch - only 4 weeks now til they move and MIL is getting in a right old flap. Was thinking though the other day that this is the first time (at 80) that she will have had to deal with the practicalities of a move as previously FIL would have done all the stuff like sorting bills and solicitors so I have to feel for her. He's pretty confused over the whole thing - seems to be regarding it as some sort of holiday! but I guess BIL will have to deal with the fallout if/when the penny drops. The slightly nasty side of me thinks - ha - as he has consistently refused to see or believe us/MIL about how bad FIL is as FIL has always managed to hold himself together for BIL's brief and infrequent visits, once he's down there he will have to see what we have been saying for a while. Will be good to be able to concentrate on our little family without distraction for a while but I just know both DH and I are going to worry that they are ok down there and that BIL and is family are making the effort to go and see them often enough - oh well.
Right, must go and print out the instructions for submitting my end of module assignment then I can finally say goodbye to this rotten module - DH says he'll sort it for me when he gets out of the bath, technology is more his thing than mine, I do words so I'll be writing him a resignation letter to have in his pocket on Tuesday just in case the personnel manager decides to get *rsey about his career break (not an unforeseeable situation). Would rather have the security of the career break, but in the grand scheme of things it would not be the end of the world and would mean he only had to work one more week.
Take care all - hugs where needed or wanted - X0
