O there's another good wool place but I cant for the life of me mind the name.. its a mill place in Yorkshire I think, sells big cones and silk and linen and cotton too. :(

Are you thinking of Texere Yarns, Mardatha

    http://www.texere-yarns.co.uk/index.html

Used to buy coned yarns for machine knitting from them. Must not look any more, must not look any more. Have two full cupboards of hand and machine knitting yarn plus an embarrassing number of wip's and ufo's.

I have used up all my ball of wool on my big bed blanket already. I've done 5 rows! Loving the basket weave stitch, so quick, easy and looks really nice for a blanket.

I can't get another ball till next month now (should have gone the acrylic route, should have gone the acrylic route... but it is lush :D)

I too am sewing through the 'needs attention' pile. A few buttons on DH's stuff, hole in a work sock of his and massive hole in school tights for DD. I'm not bothered if school think I'm tight. There's nothing wrong with them otherwise.

Got child's gloves in B&M for 99p. They are thin and not a patch on eldestDD's crochet ones from last year but they will do till I can get some whipped up. I will be crocheting a chain length to attach through the sleeves so she doesn't lose 'em. ;)

Cooking that free fish for tea. Fish goujons on the menu. DH made the batter for me last night as well as portioned the fish so it'll be easy for me tonight.

About to go put the winter duvets on. It's not really needed as yet but I suspect we'll have uncomfy cold night pretty soon so I'll preempt that.

    Afternoon All,
I'm afraid I've slept the day away...that was not the plan. I almost missed the rubbish collection after getting it ready. I've found sirting out the bin and bagging it up even though outside, I've been invaded by those tiny(and I mean tiny)flies and so I need to get some fly spray(swotting insn't working)never purchased/needed fly spray in my life. Wilko's here I come. Or perhaps those sticky strip things would work. Any ideas?:)

Reading about Wellies maybe I'm better sticking to trainers? Or something like some kind of heavy duty boots? What do you think? Help required from experts.:)

You know with all my hats/scarves/gloves I still am missing a favourite(it has to be indoors)a warm grey pom pom hat...now I need a new(charity shop)thick coat or finally get around to having the zip replaced on that coat I mentioned many months ago.

I still try to look reasonably respectable/smart when I go out but blokes have it easier(I think)as we can manage in a shirt/trousers, how easy is that? Then at home really slouch around in basic comfort clothes. I do now anyhow to save constantly having to wash or wear out my best clothes. What I have will last years and years. They'll outlive me.:(

So having slept it was weird dreams, people I've never seen before but again it involved elements that often haunt me about unhappy times where I worked. I also found it was possible to walk from New York and suddenly close by was where I worked in Darlington.:rotfl:

  • POPS it sounds like they're fruit flies and they are everywhere at the moment. I find if I have any fruit or veg out in bowls or on the veg rack we're inundated with the little perishers. The only way to get rid of them in my experience is to keep all the fresh fruit and veg in the fridge. Then they gradually die off and you're rid of the blighters, they tend not to be around in the colder weather so it's only a matter of weeks now before they dissapear naturally, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • Pops, I would really recommend these:

I have a pair identical but paid much less for them (about half!) - mine say they are by Groundwork. They are very warm and cosy, waterproof up to the top of the rubbery bit, and have excellent very rugged soles to stop you slipping in mud or (possibly) ice. They are easy to get on and off. I love mine, actually looking forward to wearing them this winter .... HTH!

Pops - if you are planning to walk a lot in wellies, with your mobility issues I would def say steer away from them and find some sturdy waterproof walking shoes or boots.

Kate - Can I pm you the link to my facebook page? I would be grateful if you could say if my stuff would fit the bill for the markets up with you. Ta!

Vile here today, about 20 degrees but pouring :(

Hope your mum is ok Nutty, must be very worrying with everything else that is going on (((hugs)))

Can't wait for the big news - curses we are working tonight !:rotfl:

ETA - thanks Fuddle for posting your curry sucess, will let you know how the blouse goes!

Thank you Mrs C, Mrs L and TC for all of the help and advice regarding flies(that sounds right)so I'm not alone(its never happened before)they are mainly upstairs for some reason(?)landing/bathroom. Thankfully not the bedrooms. They are annoying aren't they. Bit like midges.

Also the question on wellies/boots. Its really appreciated. having to take those spikes on and off my not be a good idea as I have difficulty reaching my feet and if the footware has a good thread that should be fine. I guess as they are only used annually they could last years.

    I asked the right people:)

I'm learning so much late(r)in life. I hope there's time to use all this knowledge.:p

Afternoon all......Blugh, what a wash out of a day! It was supposed to brighten up but it's raining instead. Might have to light a fire this evening to get the washing dry and take the damp feel out of the house.

Had a gorgeously smelly parcel just arrive, I can highly recommend our Mard's soaps....beautiful! Thanks ;)
