Ah, yes. I hadn't thought about jars of things. I'll see if I have a window next week big enough for a jam making session.
    Thanks

  • Or just drink lots of G&T???

Ok so not very MS but I'm just that way out!

Decision made - DH will be handing in his letter for career break tomorrow! My parents came down today to look after DS while I went for a meeting and then they took us out for lunch. Told them what we were having to do and they did some plotting while I was at my meeting. Upshot of it is my sainted daddy is going to drive down for the 4 mornings a week I'm on my own, getting to us for 7.30 to be my extra pair of hands until DH finishes. It's an almost 3 hour round trip so we are going to owe him a very nice bottle of whisky at the end of it! and my mum is going to do most of the house stuff and cooking at home so he's not trying to do his share at home as well. On top of that my mum is going to come 1 of the days and do my ironing and help me sort out the house so when DH finishes we are starting from a clean slate re house being clean and sorted (as it is a complete tip at the moment after the summer hols).

Hugs to anyone who needs one - X

Monagran I'd second Kidcat's suggestion of lemon curd - that reduces the egg surplus as well.

My favourite use for pitta breads is create a pocket, two slices of plastic cheese and a smidge of garlic in the pocket then grill for a couple of minutes per side. Quick tasty warm snack, possibly served with soup at the drop-ins?
Along similar lines, I used to split stale bagettes, add cheese and a bit of bacon, wrap in foil and bake - I tended to do this in fire embers when I was backpacking so unsure of the timings.

Lettuce could be turned into soup.

  • MONNAGRAN don't you listen to this heathenish suggestion of making lemon curd, the only use for them there lemons is to appropriate the European Gin Lake and make the biggest G&T on the planet, then whatever happens over the Revs future, you'll both see it through different eyes!!! Enjoy, Cheers Lyn xxx.

It has to be the gin with lemon and also lemon drizzle cake (to be had with lots of tea so they can sober up (- dual purpose preps!!;)

Spent most of today emulating a blue a""""d fly - went to med centre while dd had blood test, ordered new prescription for DH, posted parcel and letter for two dds and took library books back. Then raced back home and warmed up lunch for DD and DH before getting on bus to York for dd's meeting with support worker and quick bite in cafe.

Got home and showered and changed before cooking sausage, mash , peas and gravy and then dashed out again with dds for a few bits and bobs for youngest DD's bedroom in student house for when she goes back at the weekend.

Hospital visit tomorrow to sort out DH's radiotherapy so should be a long afternoon and planning home made chicken Korma when we finally get home.

I really want to set nursie on the "witches" - are you sure the initial letter is not earlier in the alphabet?;)

    Hugs to all

  • Some good positive things going on this thread whilst I have been away:)

The weather has changed and is quite chilly once evening arrives and it keeps raining...

So I gave in and purchased some more gloves and hats...anyone with a Boyes near them, they have quite a choice and are cheaper than many other retailers. I decided to get a few extras to allow for possibly losing items and to have a few different styles when I go out.

I even found a pair of fingerless gloves that can be made into gloves that cover the fingers. All are Thinsulate and most are cheaper than the pair I purchased at Tesco's...£4 cheaper:eek:The same with hats.

Peacock's have quite a range in already for Men, Women and Children.

I also purchased my final quilts today ready for Summer(4.5 tog)so I am hopefully more prepared for Winter.

Debating now whether to invest in some Wellington's and some of those spikes you fasten to boots and shoes(Boyes have them in at present)

But if the weather was that bad I probably would stay indoors so maybe I don't need the boots/spikes. Its been years since I had a pair of Wellies. Not sure I'd choose the right kind.

    Wishing well for tomorrow Elona...

Stiltwalker I have taken a career break after being widowed and it was a good decision. I'm 3 years in now, and I haven't had to sort out childcare for school holidays, or phone work when my boy was off sick. I've been able to take him to school instead of breakfast club, and pick him up after school, not to mention the dubious pleasure of going on school trips with his class.

I know your circumstances are different, but it really has helped me to relax about the whole child care thing. I'm also starting with the OU this year, so that's another advantage it's given me. Good luck.

May I chip in - as I am teetotal through choice and somedays would kill for an alcofrolic drink - a very large bread and butter pud using lemon curd thus solving several problems at once and freeing up space. I may well be hallucinating about bread pud all night due to my low carb diet. Some days I just want a butty wrapped round my bacon so I do but think pud would be pushing it :D

Stilty glad you have sorted things out, your Mum and Dad are fab. Sending hugs.x

  • They are aren't they Ginny. I definitely was in the front of the queue when they were handing out parents!

Cranky - Glad to hear it's working out for you - both DH and I are already part way through OU degrees, I've just finished my EMA for my 4th module (yes, in the middle of the last couple of weeks of mentalness so not convinced it's the greatest EMA but think it will get me through!) and DH has done 2 modules, we're both due to start new modules at the end of this month as well! Nothing like setting yourself a challenge is there? X

Elona - I always tell people that I'm being a blue bottomed fly so I don't say a*** in front of the kids! Sometimes I get more creative with the synonyms but GQ is who you really need for creative wording of slightly rude phrases, she's posted a few creative descriptions on here over the however long that have had me spitting tea at the 'puter screen! And yes I am so with you on the witches coming from earlier on in the alphabet!
