  • OK whisky sours it is then, I also like the idea of the hangover recovery lemon drizzle cake!!! Of course we could consider pushing the bounds of culinary exploration and make either Gin and Lemon Curd? or even Lemon cake drizzled with a whisky sour sauce? goodness me, who would have thought that 28 leftover lemons could be such fun? Cheers Lyn xxx.

    Morning gang.

Wellies. I've not been able to walk any distance in them for years, because of my foot issues, but I bought a pair of "Muck Boots" from the local farm shop for wading up and down the garden, and they are super comfy, and I can even walk the dogs in them!!! They are squishy inside, and have neoprene legs...not cheap though :( but seem to be lasting well.

Mrs C. re selling crafts, one of the local craft markets? Bound to be some coming up for Xmas? There's been a pop-up craft shop in Cardigan for a while called The Crafters Cwtch.

OH finished the roses for my wedding cupcakes last night, I've got them in the oven, with the oven OFF and the fan running to dry them off a bit. I trialled a pure white frosting yesterday from a recipe off the internet, it looked fab and pipes brilliantly, but got the taste test thumbs down from the menfolk. Even the dogs pulled faces at it. It has the consistency of very soft lipbalm :rotfl: So guess we abandon that, and simply go for a 'real' buttercream and to hell with the colour!

OH is about to put a new wick in the rayburn, so we can get it on today. I had oil delivered yesterday 60.5p a litre  (8OO litres of it!) Rather worrying that we will need another lot before the winter is out, and all it's doing is keeping the chill off the house!
(We need to deliver 40 heart shaped welsh cakes tomorrow too, hence wanting the hot plate!)

I've got a pile of mending to do today, and I am going to insist that it takes priority over the 'other stuff' because I really want to do some craft sewing, and I can't seem to get into the swing of it, when there is so much humdrum stuff hanging about. It really winds me up that I never get time for my craft stuff!!!

    Onwards and upwards....

Hi everyone, Just catching up with all the talk. Yesterday was one very busy day. Got my jobs done in the morning, then my mum tried calling. I popped round and found her really out of breath. Rang for an ambulance, mum went straight to the resuss dept. She was admitted to the cardiac ward again last night- so will be visiting later and going straight to work to do the late shift.

Must dash now, take care everyone x

  • morning folks, just a quick (for me :D) post this morn. I am off to see a friend who has too much on her plate, been signed off sick and needs a good old chat. She just texted to say she has popped out to buy us cakes. This afternoon I have been invited to my favourite 5 year old's house (his mum is a very good friend) to share his birthday cake, how sweet is that? He always runs up to me "SQ SQ!!". It is his last part-time day at school before he goes full-time on Monday. So in summary a day of eating lots of CAKE!!

nutty - hugs to you and your mum, will be back later to see how you both are.

stilts - glad you will have the support you need from parents and then DH. Big phews all round

I have some potentially big news... like to build the suspense (actually need to get round my friends and eat CAKE :D)... will reveal all later ;)

take care and be kind to yourselves today
    sq:)
  • ps have I told you lately how great you all are?

Well you are... so thank you all for being you and being here

  • Morning all,
    TGIFriday!

Got an email from the BF this morning, he applied for a new job with a big name satellite company on Tuesday then on Wednesday he got an email to complete a 'quiz' online. Was all sorts of questions like 'which applies more, I am hard working, I work well in a team', yesterday he got another and had 40 questions each with four comments and to select which is most and least like him. Today he got a call to tell him he needed to attend a course on Tuesday, when he said he had work and couldn't get the day off at such short notice apparently their response was 'oh well then'
How can any company expect that? Flaming shocking!

Loving the lemon chat, can I throw in lemon marguaritas to the mix? haha

    Hugs to all

  • NUTTY hope Mum is OK, she's certainly in the right place now and extremely lucky to have a daughter who loves her and cares for her welfare as much as you do. Hope you are OK too, it's hard enough doing the hours you do at work without adding in extras isn't it? You look after yourself as well you hear? You're a good person, Cheers Lyn xxx.

    SQ - tell, tell!!

I have been a bit poorly the last couple of days - pressure in my sinuses is affecting my balance and causing nausea and dizziness - it's a bit like being pregnant on a boat, waves of it wash over me (not literally). I am neither pregnant nor on a boat. I think the antibiotics are kicking in now, but still having little bouts of it. Can't get much done as looking around or bending down is making it worse. Still, small beer compared to the problems of some, I know.

Can anyone suggest something for tea? OH wants cauliflower cheese, just on its own. I would have it but would like something with it - what do others have? we often have sausages but we've had those a fair bit of late.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • VJsMUM sorry you're feeling poorly, rest up when you feel dizzy, that is so horrid, look after yourself pet! I sometimes dress things like Cauli Cheese or Macaroni Cheese up by adding in some softned onion, green pepper and mushrooms to the cheese sauce and when it's poured over the cauliflower in the dish popping on some cherry tomatoes and chopped bacon with some more grated cheese on top before it goes into the oven. Makes it more substantial as a main meal. The other thing that we always have Cauliflower Cheese with is a piece of Gammon, and we also have jacket potatoes with that which is very nice. Hope that's useful, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • I do what Lyn does, with bacon, and more veg, but sometimes combine cauliflower cheese and pasta to make a cheesy pasta bake. I put broccoli in with the cauli too... sometimes cooked carrots.

Wish I could still eat pasta :(
