Would you kind ladies and gents permit me a brief moment of proud mummyness?

    DD has just collected her results - 10 G.C.S.E.'s at B/C grade:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

OK - moment over. As you were........
    x

Lilibet, yay, congratulations. Our DD2 also had good news with her results yesterday and we scanned them and faxed them off to her prospective college. They sent her a letter by return this morning saying her offer is now unconditional and she went a bit pale as she didn't quite grasp that everything's OK and they're looking forward to welcoming her next week. Poor thing thought they'd sent more conditions for her to meet! All Ok now though...and breathe....

What a relief it is for all those who have been waiting for results across the country. Some of them were crying and shaking yesterday. What a lot of pressure is heaped on them these days!
  • Hi MOLLY haven't heard from you for a few days and hope you're getting on OK and that Molly dog is with you and making you happy. I was wondering how long you had to wait before your forthcoming operation and hoping that you are coping Ok with the being scared. It must be difficult to have the long wait knowing that it is coming up. We'd really like to stay in touch with you throughout the time you're in hospital and convalescing afterwards, but I guess that will depend on how you are feeling and whether you're up to posting. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you a successful outcome and a speedy recovery afterwards. Try not to worry too much, I know that is impossible but hope for it for you anyway. Looking forward to your first post when you are over it all and feeling better, stay safe, god bless , Love Lyn xxx.

    Hi Mrs LW,
I am still here are reading every word but gone a bit quiet. I had two days this week in London for various out patient appointments and a dose of steroids. I am all geared up to go in on the 1st but not really very happy.

Molly and Poppy are doing very well and had a b-a-t-h this morning. Cue lots of doggy swearing from the bathroom and much shaking and strutting - very much like this.........

Thank you for thinking of me x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Poor Molly and Poppy, they really don't do bathies well do they these puppies!!! Docky is very stoic and stands rigid and dissaproving throughout the whole procedure with a very sad look on his long pointy face, then goes completely mad lurcher when we put him down in the garden to roll on his towels"!!!

I guessed you'd be having some prelim checks and appointments and hoped it wasn't too harrowing for you lovie. We'll be there with you in spirit when you're in hospital and giving you hugs when you're scared or uncomfortable and waiting to celebrate with you when you come home well again, chin up, all will be well, Love Lyn xxx.

Esther :) - I didn't take your post to mean anything other than explaining the pressure some sales staff are under. Please don't worry on my account. I agree with you, it's terrible to put staff (especially young and new staff who may lack experience or confidence) under that pressure and equally horrible for customers. The majority of people will buy if they need or want to anyway and actually it can work against shops - if I am hassled in a shop, I walk away and often don't return. The exception is when I NEED to buy something and Jeremy clark(sons) know many parents will still opt to buy their shoes as I do and have us over a barrel.

Thank you for being so lovely Esther :A, your son sounds the same.

BTW when I was an a-von lady for a while, the manager tried to push me into selling more. I refused to push people to buy what they didn't want (didn't tell manager that) and would say to people, if you like buying the products, I am happy to sell you them whenever you fancy something - as a service to them and some pin money for me and nothing more.

Oh I hear you SQ! When I left college I couldn't get work in schools so worked on the counter of a Dry Cleaners. I did that job for 18 months but couldn't sell. What did I have to sell I hear you say? A water proofing for coats. "Do you require a scotchguard on your mac madam?" Complete with demonstration. I squirted a customer once and boy did she scold me. I didn't dare do the demo's after that and was forever in trouble for falling sales.

Thanks SAVINGQUEEN. I tried a few sales party plan type jobs to make a bit of extra money but I was hopeless and ran out of people to have parties in no time because I wouldn't pressure them into having the parties or buying when they were there. I guess sales aren't for me. Esther x

Greetings, lovely people, and hugs to those in need. Molly, please come on here when you can and let us know how you are - sending love, x.
Well Jeeves (cat) excelled himself last night; both cats are shut in the sitting room/kitchen overnight, and he managed to break a little light - both lamp and bulb - and knock a box of 6 eggs from table to floor. 2 eggs survived .... in revenge, I made him deal with the humungous spider in the bath! (I always know it's autumn when the monsters appear.) Luckily I found a replacement lamp this afternoon in the local hospice shop - it sits on a narrow shelf so is a difficult shape to fit. He's a very, very naughty cat, but so very, very loveable, the little monster. He expends so much energy chasing everything that moves during the day he usually falls fast asleep on his back in my arms in the evening, showing off his very handsome black and white tummy!
