    Champion :D Thank you!

It's all up in the air isn't it re: housing. The flat is a stop gap for now until we can get the income higher. We'll be looking a no more than 30 minute commute for DH - any more eats too much in seeing the girls on an evening. We've a lot to do next week and to be honest I don't know how we're going to do it with out letting on to the girls. We don't want to unsettle them until we know for sure and we can't have that conversation until Sept 9th as DH boss will be on honeymoon. All we know is that DH would have to be there mid October for opening beginning November.

I have slippers to crochet and do some packing. thanks for your help toughies :)

Hi fuddle, unlurking to say if you go to police.uk (and a www to the beginning as I can't post links yet) you can see crime stats etc for an area.
Also I would have a look on rightmove etc to check to see if many landlords in the area you are looking at accept pets as I know it can be hard to find rental flats who will take dogs and sometime ones who will take children.
  • FUDDLE the crime search for areas we used has been replaced and now is POLICE UK or UK CRIME STATS.COM that should give you the information you want about specific areas, Cheers Lyn xxx.

I've got my eye on that hauxwell. I have seen a few who don't like children in their properties - it's mainly in the centre. Further north there's not a lot of mentioning of children or pets. I'm sure we'll find something. It's nerve wracking though.

    Please don't lurk hauxwell. :)

Nutty P, If jobs weren't so difficult to find, it would serve the employer right if you refused to work the extra hours being forced upon you and see how they cope with a responsible employee who has tried to do the right thing and stepped into the breech so many times is missing and is no longer prepared to be used.

They may even find if they get too stroppy in trouble for how they are running the business and their training programme and come out of the situation worse and hopefully you have a record of dates/times and everything else that has been going on. Do they want to lose a dependable. long standing employee. Is this an excuse and something else is behind the decision?

This kind of thing gets me so mad!

NUTTYP: so sorry you have more trouble. I think mrs chips suggestion is brilliant and probably that is what happened too. Sorry for your dd too. It seems the end of the world at that age but really isn't. She will get there in the end.

JEM: If you spent that money tonight you would regret it every time you walked to school in the cold and rain this winter.

Not read any further so off to catch up.

...Over the last 2 days I have completed 28 hours!!!!! So today I am totally pooped. Please can they get more staff, and to top it all off I have been informed last month (july) I didn't ask some one for acceptable ID and I have to attend a disaplinary meeting. It is a joke, as someone who works with us has been off for over 2 weeks and no sick note, she been caught drinking at work - no action so far and she went to get a sandwich and returned after an hour and a half with a new hair do. STUPID really. Sorry but it makes a mockery of doing the right thing. I know I was in the wrong for not challenging on entry but how come I can be called in and NOTHING has been done so far reguarding the other collegue.....

NuttyP, any disciplinary action should be confidential - so in theory you should not be aware if the troublesome employee is being dealt with. After all, if it were you, I am sure you would not like to know that your indiscretions and your future were being discussed by your colleagues.

It may be that an investigation or behind-the-scenes discussions are taking place that you are not aware of. Or she may just be being given enough rope...

SAVINGQUEEN: I didn't mean to insinuate that you were anything other than polite. I just thought people may not be aware that the staff have to pressurise the customers or they get in trouble. I didn't realise this and I think it is disgusting. As did Ds which is a relief as I feel we brought him up to think more of others than himself when most people (that we come across in RW not on here) wouldn't think anything of doing what you can to succeed and not care who you hurt in the process. Sorry if you thought I was having a go.

Is there anywhere online that allows you to check stats (crime etc) in places?

There used to be upmystreet which was excellent, it got bought by Zoopla who dropped a lot of the data. Pure Location will give you summarys of the data for an area - you can search by driving time of a postcode (the depot?). Once you've narrowed down an area you'd like to check out further Police Data or Government Statistics should give you a lot of what you're after.

Ginnyknit, thank you so much for going to the trouble. This looks an interesting website and not one I've come across before. I will have a browse.
