Have managed to pain the ceiling in the living room and have finished all of the glossing except for a small bit down the side of a heavy piece of furniture so will have to wait for OH to move it tomorrow. My poor old back is protesting. I am sitting here with a wheat bag on it at the moment whilst the roller is soaking. I will wash t out and then get off to bed. The decorating will take a bit longer than I planned as OH has been offered two days overtime which will come in very handy.
I used an idea I got off pinterest and wrapped an elastic band around the tin of gloss paint to wipe the excess paint off without getting the rime of the tin messy. It was very effective right up to the point where it snapped and pinged spots of gloss onto the carpet.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Good luck with your Dad's results and fingers crossed.

I know what you mean but unfortunately there have been a few times in the last years when my intuition has been right, We caught youngest dd 's appendicitis just in time when I went to medical centre and said we would wait as long as necessary but I was worried - she was admitted to hospital a couple of hours later and operated on the next morning - just in time.
Similar with older dd when I thought she had nasal damage done at sports and she disagreed all the way as did GP till we saw specialist who repaired damaged septum. Recently other dd went reluctantly with us to A and E to find out she had kidney damage, pneumonia and clots in kidneys and lungs .
Maybe I am due a spell of being wrong. I certainly hope so!!!
Supergran's situation is not a new one. DH has been researching family history and in early Victorian times we had an elderly blind man who was a stalwart of the church and had his own pew so he could navigate safely until a bishop's visit or something when he was told he had to sit elsewhere that Sunday. He tried to do so and fell hurting himself - he then decided he and all his family were moving to another church (not sure if Baptist or Methodist)

Way to go on sticking up for your children :A Very well done especially not being talked into extra expense and an uncomfortable situation.

I was wondering where you were hiding mcculloch! Glad you've been having fun with surveys (£164!!), swimming and tweeting. Hope your DS had a very happy birthday.
GQ What a blooming awful experience for SG, she was right to walk out. Can people with early dementia behave like that? Would be awful if it means going round upsetting good folk like that and you were oblivious. I wonder sometimes if that's partly the problem with my MIL.
Monnagran - sorry to hear all about the church politics et al. Hope everything settles down soon and you find out where you are going. You have a lot of support which must be nice to know (as well as our support too don't forget). edit: and ouch your poor tooth and ouch to your bank balance.
I have a newish and lovely friend who is a vicar's wife and hear some tales from her. Great that a heathen as GQ puts it and a vicar's wife can be good friends eh?Some people think my friend's home and family are public property. She has had people climbing over their garden wall to be nosey, people demanding she opens up their home for fetes and things all the time, criticise her on tiny things that are none of their business eg. her porch is too untidy and tons of other stuff. She has been known to hide in their caravan to eat her lunch to get 30 mins peace as they can't see her in there.
jps - good luck at the docs tomorrow, don't play your symptoms down. you sound very poorly.
Hope you feel better soon pinkdebster. What a wonderful and kind thing to do, book you and OH on a 5* holiday! Wow, just wow! Can you ask some advice from the holiday company or travel agency and do some research on the nearest hospital etc yourself. Make sure you have good travel insurance and a decent phrase book plus any medical terminology translated before you go. If you are taking medication in your hand luggage, I think you need a letter from the docs. Sure you have already thought of all this, sorry if I am stating the obvious (and from someone who hasn't been abroad for years herself!) You will feel better if you go away fully prepared and a 5* hotel will be able to ring for a doctor if you needed one I'm sure.
Hugs and positive thoughts to everyone who needs them, sorry I know I have missed some people out, brain tired (and very slightly sozzled drinking a large baileys with DH watching Lewis earlier hic!)
right off to the blanket show for me

Elona now thats some list, hope everyones all right now.
Monnogran - leave the house, garden and most of all ignore the squabbles. Better to keep out of it, than be in the midst.
I have been very brave tonight.
Had D texting me constantly the few days, she really wants to make it up to me. so i basically said this "yep i'll come to yours for an hour. But if you start on the kids or me, or if they don't feel comfortable. We would be leaving straight away. Said i don't want any trouble, i also said i don't want any nonsense as i'm not a school child anymore and i can't be dealing with it.So no chasing after me as thats it, were finished". D said ok i'll control myself.
My friend and her children are also invited so i won't be on my own with her. Told LA and she was so shocked and said what's happened to its like a bomb has blown up around you. See look what happens when your confident. Your scaring people, they used to dominating your life and controlling everything about you.
So tomorrow i will go rounds with my friend, if the boys are up it. If anything happens we'll just get up and leave.0 -
Kez - you go girl and just imagine all us of stood behind you wearing our pinnies and brandishing our rolling pins if you need to!!
Come on for a bit of a moan really so I'll apologise in advance. Hit a bit of a bump today - DD had another major meltdown just getting out of bed and it took me over an hour to get her downstairs this morning (by which stage it was actually nearly lunch time as we'd all been up and the kids in bed with me for a couple of hours of interrupted sleep from 6.30 (poor DH was long up and gone to work) before they both took themselves back of to their own beds and a morning nap before getting up!) This was followed by complete un-co-operation (dis-co-operation????) with anything I wanted meaning I pulled my back a couple more times getting her downstairs/into car etc. Then she is perfect for DH !!! grrrrrr!!!
I actually got to the point by tea time where I could have cried - DH ran me a bath and poured me a glass of wine (and I've had another 2!) and I maybe feel slightly more on an even keel. It has been a long holidays - one bit of me doesn't want it to end as September means my little girl is going off to school and one bit of me can't wait - how awful is that? - rhetorical question! She's ready for it so it's not awful really, I'm just doing the mummy beating myself up thing! One little day when they were both at nursery didn't sound much but it is amazing how much difference those few little hours made to my equilibrium!
Ok I'll stop feeling sorry for myself now - it's stay and play again tomorrow and DD has a supported places 1 to 1 so I will just be trailing DS around the place with a cup of tea in hand and getting to chat to people along the way! Apparently when I was very small I asked my parents (after the mad rush of Christmas Eve/Day/Boxing day) if tomorrow could just be 'an ordinary day' - right about now I'd love one of those but DD just gets stir crazy so just have to walk that careful line between interesting and not to tiring!
Sorry for the moan - onwards and upwards and all that - Pollyanna will resume normal service tomorrow!!
Take care all - X0 -
Looking over the posts that have appeared whilst I have been out...Fuddle that is the plan regarding Preston Park...try this link loads going on. I think entry to the museum is approx £2 but the ticket can be used numerous times.
I will let you know what I think. I want to see the exhibition about the shows and stars that appeared in Stockton in the 1960's. Hard to believe so many did, I wish I had seen them.
I understand that is where the Stockton Show is on Sun/Mon. I never even knew about it. Entry is low(ish)but when two adults and two children attend it still comes in at £12 for a family. The one in my own town is free I believe but doesn't offer as much entertainment.
Thanks for the tip about Butterfly World...Back to reading what I have missed."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Morning All,
I don't relish the idea but I have to be out the door by 9am and may not get home much before Midnight. Well, I can if the person who is company for the day does not make the earlier part longer than needs be. I can survive on snacks or food I put up myself for my knapsack but I think he may want to have a meal...
I may try and get away with a cup of tea...
The weather looks promising at least.
So I hope the day is kind to all and that Docky continues to improve but I know only to well often things are worse a couple of days after the event rather than immediately.
We could do with a few days of peace and quiet...I have still to see The Great British Bake Off...I'm getting behind on things...
Right a quick shave, a coffee and a banana awaits:p
Then later in the day a very short train ride, Its a very short piece of railway line and I mean short...I may take some images of the trains that are parked up in the building.
I'll sleep tonight I suspect..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Re monnagran - I keep typing that as moongran lol - people are people, and they're herd animals. Get a leader and they follow. Hard cheese for all concerned if the leader is a PITA. I'd ignore them and move on pet, because they've obviously got a lesson to learn, and that will come. But stay in touch with your friends in the nice herd
I've done a Very Bad Thing... woke up wee bit ratty and found half a pkt of soggy crisps in the cupboard and ettit. Now I feel even rattier and know that I've ruined the diet for the day.
Isn't cold today but it's very dark and that affects my mood.

Good morning
Thanks pops. I've seen over the wall and it does look like a bargain entry price. We've a good council here. They are always looking to hold events. We've a Tory MP, something which is alien (and a bit disconcerting although shouldnt effect me whatsoever... predjudices from my miner grandad) to me coming from labour staunch Durham.
Hey stiltwalker, I've done the 'children starting thing' twice now and can I confess that I was so happy to see them off, I felt a sense of achievement, a milestone reached and a relief accompanied by a hop skip and a jump that I can have quiet time to do my thingso many parent weeping and wailing about their babies and not being ready. Not me, proud a punch and ready to let 'em flourish! We all react differently I guess, I just wanted to say don't worry if you feel positive about starting school, I did and given all that I try to do with my sproglets I won't feel guilty about that hop skip and jump and neither should you
