PX87 such good news, and to be able to move in early is the very best thing for them, and you!!! You might see a change in her Mums attitude once she has the baby and Mum begins to accept the fact, I'm just so pleased that you and the family have rallied round and helped the pair of them so very much, you're a good supportive bunch and they'll be very grateful to all of you.
I hope the lost kittie comes home soon, I wouldn't be to unhopeful of the outcome on that one, my youngest DD has 2 cats and lives in a big city and they both go AWOL for weeks at a time and it is usually because they seem to have convinced the entire neighbourhood that they are poor underfed waifs without homes, she's been phoned by various vets(both cats are microchipped) asking if the person currently hosting the kittie can keep him, and they always seem shocked to find the cats have a home and are just little opportunists!!! Chin up, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
GQ if you know anyone with rabbits they love mallow. I've got my Food for Free book this morning and shall be off foraging soon. We have allotments nearby, I need to cultivate some new friends and take their weeds off their hands!
PQ87, great news for your DB and partner. I agree the MIL just sounds nasty, the less contact with her the better. I hope your cat turns up soon.
DS is at his new secondary school today so fingers crossed it all goes OK. My friend took him and her DD on the bus we were planning for them to get and apparently it got there with only a minute to spare so might need to rethink that.0 -
Thanks for the thoughts for Fluffy kitten. She's very bright eyed this morning, her coats looking much improved too (amazing how it reflects just how poorly they feel). No litter tray usage over night, no food or water consumed. I did manage to get more fluids into her before bed and she's had some more this morning. I carried her out to the garden to get some fresh air but her back legs really aren't playing the game today. The vet did say her legs are fine, all reflexes are there, she's just so sore from being so bunged up that she's choosing not to use them (reassuring to some degree) She's all drugged up for the day and back in the safety of the conservatory where I can check what she's upto.
Thank you for the birthday wishes too - DDs brought me a gorgeous present - it's an indoor allotment - a little shed with a picket fence to enclose some pots to grow herbs in - looks fab on my window sill and will get it planted up later (it came with seeds and soil and a little pair of herb snips to keep in the shed!)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Pooky, I`m glad you`re seeing some improvement in fluffy kitten.
Popperwell - thanks for the Swale Valley Stompers link. Our `local` always does a few beer festivals in summer months and usually have a bunch of jazz musicians playing at them. They aren`t famous or anything, just a bunch of pals of Mine Host enjoying themselves! The high spot is when Mine Host joins them with an old washboard now & then. They interact with the audience, and each other, so a bit of light comedy as well as great sounds!0 -

Happy Birthday Pooky!
Really nice to hear of a little positive news about kitty. Her bright eyes and improving coat suggest she's hit the lowest point and on the slow mend now, here's hoping.
savingqueen you rant away, it takes a lot out of us folk just getting the mindset in order to go somewhere we want to, listening and doing something we're interested in. Preparing yourself for a course that isn't your thing will be frustrating. Well done on getting there in the first place though.
Oh dear Docky, I'd have paid your weight in jam to see Lyn jumping around and mopping up - very entertaining!Hope nothing was ruined Lyn
About to go bottle the cordial. Girls are intrigued (and had a dip in the mix this morning, yum) and want to go pick some tonight so we can make it for my sister. Without boring you all my sister has been asking about OS more and more of late. I don't suspect money problems, I think it's fashionable in her crowd at the moment to be homemade and earthy mothers. Whatever the reason, it doesn't bother me as I'm hoping it will bring us closer together.
I found Astonish in Home Bargains 85p (boy that shop is cheap compared to others round here, even cheaper than wilkos!) so oven cleaning is on the agenda along with grass cutting.
A question if I may? Butter. I am wanting to move away from factory manipulated spreads in favour of butter but storing in the fridge makes it unmanageable for sandwiches etc. Can butter stay out of the fridge at room temperature indefinately i.e. the life of the slab?0 -
Re imagining my insides in Glorious Technicolour - no! I had a very low tolerance level before of twaddle-taken-seriously, have always failed to suppress the giggles & been asked to leave. Now, since having ultra-sound & CT scans before my op, I`d be even more sceptical about it!0

YES!!! I've got an old fashioned (no surprise there then!) butter dish with a lid and I keep butter in there on the window sill that doesn't get the sun, in this house it's the one over the sink and the butter stays cooler but spreadable. In the very hot summer time, I pop it in the cupboard with the tins as it seems to stay cooler in there. If you leave it out in the very hot weather it gets separated and you get oil in the dish and tastes a bit rancid. Most of the year though it's perfectly safe if you keep it covered.
Nothing spoiled FUDS just a bit soggy and I've had to leave the cabinet pulled out to let the carpet and wall dry off, poor old boy, he was just saying a hearty good morning, bless him, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
