Has anyone tried elderflower fritters? My 2 love all things pancake-y so they might just get eaten. Although I expect them to say they'd prefer them without the elderflower.

    Happy Birthday Pooky.

I will be thinking of kitty and positive thoughts for her daily improvement.

Nuttyp, glad that you are feeling better.

Got an annoying headache and fibro neck ache so have the heated hot water neck bottle on and going to try and find a fizzy panadol.

    Take care all. x

That's brilliant news, thank you all. Super idea nuatha to only keep a workable slab out in the hot weather and I will keep it in the cupboard Lyn as the kitchen gets full sun till 2pm.

Now then.. any idea where I can purchase a butter dish. I suspect they are of bygone era?

They're easily available, but try a plate with a bowl over it. No need to spend money on it until you are sure that it's what you want. Then I recommend getting two, so you can put the new bit of butter in the clean dish while you are using up the dregs of the other one.

Morning all and very happy birthday to you Pooky along with healing wishes for small puddy tat.

Fuddle - you can still get butter dishes so have a look round and see if you can find a lovely one - in the meantime you can improvise with a side plate and a small bowl, as long as it sits on the plate with no gaps that will do the trick til you see one you love.

DS did one of his rare early wakings this morning and started yelling just before 7 (I know - nearly lunchtime by some people's standards, but not in this house!) so I had his company for a hour before I had to go and prise his sister out of her bed. Not an easy task considering how wiped out she was yesterday, she actually asked for early tea and bed and was fast asleep for 6.30!

Right, must gather my things and put DS in the car to go and get his sister from nursery.

ETA - Greenbee beat me to it!

Take care all and catch you laters - X
  • FUDDLE when you eat the fritters only eat the flowers, not the stalks, you make the fritter with the whole head including the stalks normally, but you can take the flowers off and drop them in the batter mix and drop tablespoonfuls into the hot oil, it might be easier for the girls to eat if you do it that way? Whatever you do make sure you have lashings of sugar available to sprinkle over them and lemon juice if you like them that way, enjoy, Cheers Lyn xxx.

I regularly see them in charity shops. Lurpack did a giveaway a couple of years ago, with two packs of butter.
In the meantime the suggestions above are good, or if you have a plastic takeaway container (or two Greenbee is right) then they would work fine (just not as pretty)
