One of my favorite memories is the year my sister and I were given navy blue silver cross carriage prams for Christmas. I was so proud walking around the village with it as only one other child had one. Years later mum told me that it had cost a week of dads wages for one and our grandparents had bought the other. We never usually had expensive presents so it was extra special.
Unlike my sister I kept mine and both of my girls used it and they both loved it as no one else had a pram like it. I still have it now up in the attic. Many a time it was used when visitors with babies came (large fertile family).
Rubber chicken week for us. Had a roast chicken dinner yesterday and chicken/butternut squash risotto with salad tonight. I had a chicken salad for lunch at work. Have put the carcass in the slow cooker with celery, onion and carrot and popped it in the fridge. OH will put it on tomorrow for me. Have got some soup mix soaking in water with added adzouki beans, butter beans and borlotti beans.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Fluffy kitten took a turn for the worse today, now having to administer rehydration fluids, painkillers, anti-bs, sinus meds and strong laxatives. Poor little thing went to get up and her back legs went, she's pulling herself along by her front paws, her vision also went for a while....she was very scared (as were we).
Fingers crossed she makes a speedy recovery."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

She's got an upper respitory infection (throat, ears, sinus) and she's really constipated (making her lose the feeling in her back legs). She's longhaired and extremely densely fluffy so as she's tried to clear the seasons fur she's got all congested. She can't smell food so she's not eating (and also being constipated she doesn't want to eat, plus her throat is red raw from the infection) and she's not drinking as she's so full of snot. The dehydration can cause them to lose vision for a while and whilst I've tried getting water into her she now needs the proper hydration fluids.
I've got her shut in the conservatory on a beanbag, low enough to the ground she can get on and off and some low litter trays and newspaper.
I think we will have to get her sedated and shaved once she's over this, we need to give her a break from grooming to avoid more issues."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Oh Pooky poor thing hope she picks up soon0

Hope she's alright Pooky. : (
Secondary induction day here tomorrow and DS will have his first day in his new school. Luckily at the moment at least he's quite excited rather than nervous. Packed lunch already made and we're STILL working our way through the flapjacks from Approved Foods which have certainly reduced the price of lunchboxes - much cheaper than I could make them for.0 -

Pooky - so sorry Kitten has been so poorly
.
Our cat has recurrent problems with his sinus. We get Bisolvon from the vet. It comes in 5g sachets, and is a powder to clear congestion in horses and cows, but is fine for cats (I even read that vets us it on themselves, not sure how true that is!). I give George a pinch mixed into a bit of lik-e-lik paste and he usually will lick that up - if really bunged up I use a bit of the tomato sauce from sardines, as cats usually love it, and it has a strong smell, especially slightly warmed. Can also put into water if they are drinking, but I like to know it has gone in.
Also used a thing called Complivit - a high nutrient paste which is good for ensuring they are getting the right vits and minerals and also stimulates their appetite.
And finally, we got some Fortiflora sachets which are meant to re-balance the gut flora for poorly kitties, but also has a side effect of making food extra palatable. Again a sprinkle from a 1g over food is all you need.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
pooky - this may sound silly but have you tried dreamies? Our cat (and the cats from all around the neighbourhood) will come home from miles away for dreamies when the packet rattles, its the noise rather than the smell that attracts them - maybe the rustle would be enough to entice her into a little snack0

Hope little kitty is better soon Pooky, poor thing - and you worrying about her.
ALERT *** mini rant of no importance follows...
Beginning of a particularly busy week and a course to go this afternoon. It meant dashing about all morning, having a very hurried early lunch and stressing to get there on time.
Only three of us on time and everyone else pottled in between 20-30 mins later for seemingly no good reason -I was not impressed. Then the course I thought was about time management and similar turned out to be a sort of nice time for busy mums/relaxation type course. OK I thought, different but nice.
Lots of talk about vibrating rainbow colours and swirling chakras which was really not me. I hope no-one is offended but really for me my chest isn't shiny, emerald green inside and my head violet. For me personally a total waste of time as I felt more wound up after the course and mentally thinking of what else I could have got done at home. I like a bit of massage, aromatherapy, meditation etc as to me they seem to me to be more practical, alternative therapies. I'd better apologise again, just my personal view, horses for courses and sorry if I have put my size 6s in it (yet again)
Anyway back to the real world of domestic duties, a roast chicken needs carving up and sticking in the fridge and if I have enough energy a second round of washing up. What fun!
My DS9 is a slim jim and has always had a big appetite from day one but lately I feel I'm not keeping up with him. He's asking for seconds at dinner then has pudding then a bit later he is eating fruit, crackers and whatever else he is allowed to have. He did all of the above tonight and just before bed said he was still hungry. I gave the nearest food to hand, some leftover quiche I was saving for my lunch tomorrow. I will up his dinner portions and try and give him a bigger breakfast, will include a couple of eggs tomorrow to keep him going. He hasn't enough time at school for more packed lunch though he manages to eat a reasonable size one. I feel I need to have a meal plan just for his "supper" snacks!! Any tips for filling up a boy with hollow legs?
