I like toads...in theory. Their sudden movements get me every time, although I've learned to be cautious around the courgette plants. I'm more than happy for them to play slug patrol, as long as we don't startle each other.0

I made 2 yesterday - both for the allotment open day today, one to sell whole & one for slices with a cuppa. The sliced one lost 25% last night, every slice was met with an "Ooh that's lovely", and the whole was bought by a lady who had bought a slice!
I used the Tesco 22p lemon curd, and am seriouslythinking of entering it into the allotment show next weekend along with assorted veg, baking, jam & chutney...will keep you posted!FairyPrincessk wrote: »GQ--I'm glad I'm not the only one startled by toads. I had a baby toad jump over my foot yesterday, he was about the size of a 50p piece!0 -
thanks MrsLW, didn't get round to fiddling with me upholstery tonight, too busy descaling and cleaning various parts of the dishwasher as wasn't rinsing properly - seems better now and watching The Mill which I love, makes our current lives seems very rosy in comparison. I will have to get my eebygumbay account sorted, haven't used it in years and now its blocked as I had a few pence in fees owing (paid off), must chase them up again as might have a go at flogging a few bits again too.
Meant to say before, I saw lots of trolleys (with their drivers obviously) out and about today. Maybe in the future, you will be able to program your trolley to go out and do your shopping for you, no worries about delivery times and fees and your trolley could visit several shops and supermarkets rather than just one store. And...... I saw a young man in his 20s, very easy on the eyeand dead trendy pulling a trolley, a first for me! Tempted to dig mine out (trolley, not a young man), it's not a great design, too cheaply made but if I could get used to it, I would splurge out on a better one. I know I have the car but I could save some petrol or even my back lugging bags to the car.
If anyone uses Lidelee and face[STRIKE]kindle[/STRIKE]book, there is a £5 off £30 spend next week, need to like their page - don't use FB myself but have an account (to nose at other people's photos) so might have a bash if DH can print the voucher at work.

Lovely reading about Little Al Mrs Chip, thank you.
Your DD sounds talented Mrs LW - how wonderful to have watched her dance when she was a child and now hear her sing. You must be so proud of her.
DS9 has just come downstairs saying he so hungry he can't sleep! He said he was at 9 oclock as he often does and I thought he was just trying it on a bit, stalling bedtime and don't want him to get into bad habits. He had a good size portion of chili and rice and a smaller second helping and a bowl of strawberries and chocolate mousse at 7pm. I have given in and let him have a banana (which he isn't keen on but has eaten). He has grown much taller and developing 'pecs' etc now so I assume his appetite is justified.
Anyone else had the same experience with a pre-teen boy? I don't want him eating at such a late hour but I feel mean if he is hungry and can't sleep. He eats well and a balanced diet from breakfast onwards so it's not like he is saving his appetite up for the evening. Hollow legs eh?
BTW he has always had a big appetite right from birth! Thing is he used to be really slim and I know it's good he is filling out a bit but don't want him to become overweight either, he isn't that sporty though active enough.
It's getting late, maybe I am just fussing over nothing.
night all

Savingqueen I have a 12 year old and for the last 2 years he is impossible to fill up, he eats a portion equivalent to his Dads at dinner and will have yogurt and fruit after then usually will make 2 slices of toast or a sandwich or a bowl of weetabix before bed.
He also eats a large breakfast of porridge or weetabix followed by either eggs, toast or fruit and has lunch at school.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

hi everyone, its a lovely sunny day here. I have most of washing done, so its a head start already. Today is a late shift at work, and said collegue is due back in today after going awol again for another week. IF she turns up I have the pleasure of working with her for the evening. I expect its going to be a very awkward time, I mean what do you talk about as she has supposidily taken another OD of pills and alcohol. This is the 3rd time since feb when she started. I also sent her home the last time I worked with her for drinking at work. To say I feel nervous already is an understatement.
I am preparing to decorate this weekend, we are doing the living room. Wallpaper is already bought, have found some white paint for ceiling and some satinwood for the window sill. Just need to get a tin of paint for the walls, some shade of beige will do. The only other thing to get will be a shelf and possibly put new lamp shades up. To decorate the room it should come in under £50. Infact it will have to.
Will be taking the curtains down for a quick wash and freshen up, and generally having a good clear out.
I made the lemon curd cake and a jam version yesterday, both have been half eaten..... with the jam version you may need to only add a good half to 3/4 jar of jam. If you add the whole jar it is very sticky!!!
Have a great day everyone xBSC member 137

Morning all,
Of course Jem. A few notes--I haven't managed to get mine pretty yet--they're usually lumpy on one side, but they taste fine. I also haven't managed to make the wooden spoon bit effective, I find it easier to shape with my hands. I do, however, use the wooden spoon to lower them into and fish them out of the boiling water.

SQ--that sounds like a normal appetite to me. I wouldn't worry. I went through phases like that as a kid. My mum jokes she always knew when I was about to need bigger clothes because I suddenly got a bigger appetite. In my brother's case, he put on a bit of weight around that age and was quite pudgy for a bit. A few years later, he suddenly shot up..and kept shooting until he got to six and a half feet tall, just like my dad. I think he had to sort of back up and get a running start with his eating before he started getting taller.:rotfl:
Mrs Chip, I was happily reading your accounts of Al yesterday, but I don't think I mentioned it. I do love reading about him, he sounds marvellous.
Well, it is back to work today, and I've got a list of unpleasant things I need to work on--I think today's task is contacting the student loan company about an error. I'll probably have to go into Uni to get a letter confirming that it is an error, so I'll be ordering some of the books suggested from the library. I imagine I'll find some in CS eventually, but I want to have a go right now!:D0 -
NuttyP, it sounds like the situation is far more awkward for you than it is for her--she seems unaware of just how inappropriate her behaviour is, or perhaps she doesn't care. Either way, she is unlikely to care about a little awkward conversation--so don't let that worry you. There is an article in BBC magazine today about food hygiene ratings, maybe give that a go--most people like clean food and it is safely away from discussing her OD. Or, there is always the weather and the price of tea in China (I hear it is soaring these days!) Big hugs, it does sound very tense and I do wish they would sort out something more permanent regarding the situation, it seems unfair to allow her to continue when she is breaking the rules.0
