I wonder if any of you can help me out? I know some of you have mentioned using Pinterest. I was searching for some recipe ideas fora buffet today and came across some great pictures on pinterest. But I don't know how to actually see the recipe!
I have googled but all the how to sites just tell me how to make a pin board of things I like and I am not sure if that means I will be able to use them or whether I need to write down the web link and go in that way.If Ibclick on the web address on the Pinterest site I just get that persons interests.I am on an IPad BTW.
    Thanks in advance
  • Morning all.

The bread maker seems like a great deal, However, I think i'm going to pass & get my hands on a secondhand one.

I'm not great with baking therefore i always feel like i need things that will do it for me, IYKWIM.
Making anything from scratch scares me, I hate wasting food & alot of my time results in feeding the bin.
So more education for me before i head into anything like that.

Does anyone else's partners work in the building trade? painter, tilers, ect?
I'm trying to sort out my winter prep for his work clothes & i have to say the things that needs replacing badly is footwear and jumpers. I'm wondering if any of your partners are in these trades & whether they seem to also come home holey!?

I'm looking for the best place to get decent footwear but for the life of me, I cant find anywhere that's cheap enough for work wear.

elisamoose: I'll pass, I registered on there yesterday for the first time & i was truly confused (Does take much ha-ha.) Hopefully someone will be able to point you in the right direction shortly hun x
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

I had a lovely day yesterday at the Gathering, stroked and petted loads of lovely wool and sat munching cake (day off the diet!) watching all the spinning wheels working. I took my wee spindle and got some done myself too - but I can only sit still for so long then I need to get up and walk around or go outside. I fell in love with this amazing wool somebody had for sale and I forgot who the seller is now. It was in gorgeous shades of deep emerald green, burgundy, and indigo - and it had silk through it, giving it such a gorgeous sheen. I petted it all day :D.
We talk here about OS crafts and skills being lost - but I'll tell you there are lots of ladies up in these hills who can really show you how it's done. And they weren't all older.

:)PRINCESSK87, when my Dad was in the building trade and a farm labourer he virtually lived in army surplus stuff. So much so that his nickname on the farm was "Nato". :rotfl:It's hardwearing and pretty cheap. Worth a look-see, perhaps?

Safety boots often seem to turn up at the bootsales in this area, often unworn, for less than £10. I have a pair of DMs with steel toes which I bought at a bootfair for £2 and use when gardening. No chance of sticking a fork thru them.

Fuddle, words fail me. Trying to manipulate your daughter by the old cutting her out of the will malarkey? Beyond childish. And what would that make you, if you bowed to it, some kind of mercenary mare? Do what's best for you and your OH and daughters and ignore the money. She either will or will not withold it, but she shouldn't be allowed to get her way like this. It's not good for her and it's not good for you. You're not her keeper, you're a fellow adult woman, and deserve respect.

:) Was busy yesterday on the allotmentino. Things seem to have finished about a month earlier as it has been so dry, so I'm in a tidying-up phase atm. Had the broad bean haulms up yesterday, they'd finished about 3 weeks ago and were all dried out. Will probably lift the onions today.

Have lots of stuff to get to the tip, weed which are setting seeds and which I don't want to leave on the plot, so will be a barrowing the load down. Round trip is just about a mile, so that will keep me fit.

Rightly, going to have another cuppa as I make my flask and them I'm outta here for a few hours. Hope everyone has a good day. GQ xx

Oooh. Which one? Not Braemar I take it - I think that's in a couple of weeks. Shame we're in Helsinki or we'd be going. DH's grandparents lived in Braemar and we went every year.

  • Elisamoose, when you click on a picture that you like the look of, it will become big, greying out the other small pictures. Click on it again and it should open in another window to show you the website it came from.

It should be fairly straightforward, however, there are a few reasons why it might not work. Sometimes the link has moved, sometimes pinterest has blocked the link thinking is is spam (you'll get a message, they've been a little overzealous lately, blocking links that I know are not spam), sometimes the link takes you to a blog, but not the correct page. I then find it easiest to type the name of the recipe and the name of the blog in google, but many blogs also have their own search features.

    I hope this helps.

Noo Furry - Broughton :) Tiny wee village in the borders, that once a year hosts a gathering of Spinners Guilds from all over the south of Scotland. Sadly no big men in kilts, more like wee ladies in cardis !

    Morning all!

I've been attempting to do our menu this week. [STRIKE]After yesterday's discussion, we decided to put off our order a bit longer. Since' we're completely out of lentils and can't get them at Ald! that keeps several of the things I had in mind off the menu. Nevermind [/STRIKE]I've come up with some tasty things this week. Order is back on. And, so is Kezlou's loaf! OH showed me some red lentils that were, well, lets just say we have different ideas about kitchen organization and it never occurred to me they would be in the potato box. :p

Visiting cat is set to return tonight, just before bedtime. She'll be here until Wednesday and go home for good.

This afternoon, I think it might be time for me to get back to hanging things. I gave up several weeks ago because I was struggling to get anchors into the wall for a mirror. However, I've got advice off both my dad and OH's dad and am feeling more confident and less frustrated. OH's dad was able to tell me what was going wrong and my dad was able to give me some more appropriate drill bits. I will get there in the end! Must also plug up the holes from my mistakes and repair the paint:) After that, it is more clothes tidying and perhaps a walk to the pound shop to see how many hangers I can get for a pound--unless anyone knows of a way to get them cheaper? I've had a look on gumtree/freecycle, but it would cost me more than a pound in fares to collect them, so think I may be better off buying locally.

GQ--your allotment is truly an inspiration. It is thinking of you that settles me down everytime one of those toads in my garden jumps out at me and scares the daylights out of me. Which reminds me, I have three courgettes that need looking in on! My mum has given me a book called 50 ways to kill a slug--is it wrong that I sometimes enjoy flipping through it, laughing evilly at some of the techniques? It is a bit of a joke book, but some of the techniques have proven mildly effective.

Mar, I can just picture you amongst a bunch of wee ladies with cardigans spinning! It sounds lovely.

Morning :) I've just got up! Always I wake and rise before 7.30am. I feel so naughty!

I'm in baking mood today but I don't have much butter so I will have to investigate - maybe a sweet bread.

About to go cook up a porridge storm, left over soup for lunch and chicken curry for tea. Trying smart price naans 32p (chicken, rice and frozen veggies for girls)

I heard that mam was having a night out last night... I'm sat here upset and stressing? Nah, no more!

LittleDD had her slippers on last night (love me kids wrapped up in pjs/dressing gowns etc) they were too small. Never fear, there's a crochet hook here! ;)

DH is fishing a major competition today. A lot at stake - £900!! He won it 6 years ago (I know!!!) so I'm flaming t'enterhooks here! Honestly, I don't think so and neither does he but... he wasn't expected to do it when he did ;)

Ooohhh - fingers and toes crossed for Mr Fuddle!!

Just waiting for DH to get back from work then we can go and get DD's trousers for school - we have the ok to send her in smart jeans as she still spends so much time crawling and she'd be through the knees of anything else in 5 minutes flat. She lives in Primarni stretch jeans so heading over to Harrogate to get her a bunch that will do for school and home this autumn/winter. It's not quite as big as the Leeds store but oh so much more civilised!

We meant to go yesterday afternoon after Art in the Pen but DD spent so long looking and chatting to the various artists that it was almost 4 before we got out! We did treat ourselves to the picture I'd fallen for at the private view as DD also likes it! and Grandma and Grandad treated her to a print of a goose by an artist called Lucy Gell that she had seen at Printfest and liked but she had already had one bought for her already. Grandad had also made her a beautiful little stool with a rush seat that was a miniature version of a couple he had on his stand which she is mightily impressed with!

DS is not in the least bit interested in art but fortunately he seems to love people watching so he was happy enough!

Hope you all ok and sending hugs to anyone who needs one - X
