    Morning everyone,

Hope this finds you well and enjoying some good weather? It's a little overcast down here on the South Coast (Dorset!!!) but the sun is trying its hardest to break through.

Just wanted to say I made both the no-fat tea cake and the lemon curd cake yesterday for my sewing group and they both went down a treat! I was definitely the star of the evening!! My friend who can't eat dairy was so impressed she asked for the recipe for the tea cake and took all the leftovers home!

Spent the last few days trying to sort out some holiday travel insurance for when we go abroad in a few weeks. You'd be surprised how many insurance companies won't cover a feeding tube. Anyway, incase anyone needs a good "medical" insurance company, after much ado and many (overflated) quotes, I secured a really good deal with a Company called "Good to Go". They were really helpful and the quote was fantastic.

Off to do some Uni work now so enjoy your day everyone. xx

Iris - the meter will usually have more than one set of numbers for economy seven, we have never had it but my friends meter had a window with three sets of numbers, the top was day, middle was night and the last one was total, but your energy bill should also tell you if you have economy seven - it will give you day rate usage, night rate usage etc. Your supplier can also tell you if you call them.

We are off to see Thomas the tank today, he is visiting North Wales so we are all up and packed to drive to see him, havent told the kids yet as DS9 would not be able to contain himself :)

So hugs to all and I hope everyone has a lovely day - I will catch up when I get back :)

    Morning all.

We have tried almost everything with OH’s verruca. We tried the duck tape and the Gp told us to keep a measure of the size and shape. Sadly this resulted in it getting bigger (Common risk apparently)
We have spoken to a few foot doctors who have said the only way now for this to go is by the freeze / burn treatment which OH can get on the NHS. But neither of the doctors he seen will submit the paperwork for this saying that over the counter stuff should work.

But clearly it isn’t therefore when we go back in a few weeks I think I will be telling them bluntly that its cause OH too much discomfort.

Today I’m toying with the idea of tackling the garden. This is normally OH’s jobs because I’m truly clueless to a mower ect, But recently he’s been doing 14 hour shifts daily and we’re just never making enough time to get these bits sorted, Plus his arm is still causing him a lot of pain after a accident at work last week. We have a close friend coming down from London on the weekend as we’re all heading to a Balloon fiesta. Should make a lovely day, but I’m worried that OH will be struggling. Its great to start finally having some free family events to go too. They have a night glow as well, With the hot air balloons, dancing to music, lighting up, ect. Plus plenty of free extra’s like, coupons, freebies ect handed out to all.

Does anyone have a female dog that’s been spayed? I don’t really want to start a whole new thread because I believe in my heart that I already know the answer, But,

Poppy (14 mths) is due to be spayed. OH and I are worried that its liable to change her personality. It never with my male, or 1 of my female cats. The second female kitty ended up extremely scared of everything ever since. I’m worried that she will loose her cheekiness, happy outgoing nature should we have another case of kitties 2! Also I’m slightly concerned over the after care, as they’ve said to me I need to leave her in a spare room on her own until her stitches are gone. However, I only have 4 rooms in my house, None of which would keep her “alone”…
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

    Morning all,

Just been writing an essay on the SHTF thread. I try not to post in there, the gadgets are just too exciting.

We had a stir fry for tea last night, with Tofu. I used to eat it semi-regularly but OH turned his nose up a few years ago when I made this very same stir fry. Only recently he asked about cooking tofu so I made it again. He loved it. What are all of those old sayings about making him think it was his idea:rotfl:

Tonight is a slow cooker recipe, curried aubergines. I've never made it before, but it looks nice and simple. It doesn't need to cook for long, so I'll prep it at lunch time and switch it on before we head off to the doctors. Should be ready just in time for dinner. I hope it is tasty.

Right. I'll keep it brief this morning, but hugs to all of you. I did read along but a bit distracted this morning. Shall head out into the garden and see if I can calm my mind before I start work (yes, just starting this morning, usually have done a bit before I come on here).:o

    Morning All!

Been manic busy with work, and socialising with friends who decended last week 'as a surprise'. They leave tomorrow. Typical they come our busiest time. Lovely to see them but if we had known we could have made sure we were free to see them more.

Little Al (sparrow) doing well. His cage arrived yesterday, I underestimated how big it was so he is somewhat lost in it, but I guess that is better than being cramped.Just trying to work out how to teach a blind bird how to find it's food and water. He seems happy enough, sitting havig a preen as I write.

Fuddle - Dorset sounds fab, it is a lovely county, we have holiday'd there many times.

Princess - every female dog I have known has been spayed, and they have always beeen very happy dogs. Male dogs have a better temperament too.

I have quite strong feelings about the whole spaying/neutering thing, not only from the point of view of the health of the dog (especially !!!!!es) but because there is such a problem with strays and 'throw-away' dogs, let alone the breeding of attack and fighting dogs. Personally I would make neutering obligatory unless you have a licence, but I know that is quite an extreme view.

There was a tiny pup at the camp last night, a cross between a chiuaha and a Yorky. She was all black with white feet, so pretty. She did not have a name as she was up for sale, it was very hard not to give in and have her! But that is the problem I think, buying dogs on a whim and then finding they cost a lot to keep. Right, off my soapbox!

I hope everyone has a great day!

ETA - Princess, I am sure Poppy will be fine if you can make a quiet corner for her, can't see why shutting her away (unless you have lots of other dogs who could mither her while she has stitches) would be absolutely vital?

Morning everyone, its a lovely sunny day here. Next door have decided to have yet another bonfire..... after another heated row that woke me up. Its very easy to grow to unlike some people.

OH was on the laptop last night, looking for a holiday for next year. Now we have a week in October and I still haven't booked to do anything yet. Well he wants to go away for 2 weeks on our own, no kids (18 and 23) so I suppose its acceptable. He wants to try all inclusive, but I have IBS and sometimes it can be really bad.

I really don't know what to do, he wants to 'celebrate' the end of our BR 6 years mark. It is something that none of his family know about, and only some very close people do. He said its the end of a bad chapter in our lives and we should mark the start of a new, hopefully happier and better one.

Last night I made lasagne but with just tinned tomatoes, and it was delicious. We have half of it left over so will re heat it for tea tonight along with some garlic bread and a bit of salad. I made the lemon cake a few days ago and yesterday we ate some of it. It is lovely and moist, will be trying it with marmalade when this is gone. I have some 29p strawberry jam from @ldi and that is another variation I will try. I love baking but I need to loose a bit of weight so I have to give the majority to OH.

Well must do some more cleaning. I didn't get the cushions made yesterday so I will be finishing them off today, wallpaper looks fab!! even if I do say so myself. A room refreshed for around £6!!

    Take care everyone x

I'm being dead lazy today. Was supposed to be out in the garden but if the hot weather is coming back then I will do it then (wee fibber, I will sit here and tell you all it's far too hot to garden) :D
I'm going to start up in soap again, and am plotting xmas. Drooling over foaming bath butter and bath teas and foot soaks andandand... Is a much better way of passing the morning than actually doing any work! ;)

Nutty you do what is right for you and yours. If it feels right to mark the occasion then go for it and enjoy. We won't be celebrating or anything like that though. For us it was over that first year. Now we are no longer BR is enough for us. We don't want any more credit, doubt we'll ever get back on the housing ladder etc so it doesn't bother us whether the credit file has BR on it or not... as long as it's clean enough for rental credit checks. The thought of thinking about and bringing all those memories back fills me with dread and I actually think I won't cope at all if we think about it in any further detail because I can't get away from it as it is. Our BR date was youngest DD's birthday and I hate the fact the special day is marred with such a thing.

Just different circumstances and different lives Nutty. If it's what you want to do then enjoy it. Your family don't have to know why you're going away. Who ever needs to explain why they have a break ;)
