Morning all - thanks for the recipe appreciation. This fish pie one I sort of made up, having watched Delia (I think) make one once. She didn't use the microwave though;).

Banana one was passed onto me by mum.

I need to sit quietly for a while while I wait for some tablets to slow something down. The joys of approaching the menopause.

Fortunately I was up and showered; the windowcleaners have been.

That's what cookery is all about. Recipes should be adapted to your own liking and budget. I think what has happened is blatant food snobbery and I'm extremely disappointed in Shirley Goode for writing what she did. I think there's a slight difference between frugality/savviness and coping on the bread line. Excellent to make your own strawberry jam when you have a glut from your garden... but when you don't have access to those resources you have to buy 29p mixed fruit jam. See what I mean? No way is right, no way is wrong and it's sad that comments have been made.

I think if you can/want to use wild Atlantic Salmon fillets in a dish then go for it, it certainly will be yummy but I think those that use salmon paste as a way of stretching the budget should equally be able to use what they so wish without being looked down upon. I'm so sorry OSers, I know she's the almighty frugal queen but it's for that very reason i.e. years and years of experience and knowledge, that I feel she should have refrained from typing what she said in the tone in which it was typed it aimed at a person of quite young years. She went further to judge whether Jack's accounts of accessing Food Banks we're true according to the knowledge she had of them in her area, that is how I interpreted them and If I have what's to say others haven't? I find those comments appalling and I feel Shirely Goode has let herself down.

The sad thing in all this? We're now all talking about ego's when we should be talking about £3 donations to food banks.

I had my blood test yesterday to check hormone levels for menopause and also my thyroid. I went back today to discuss possibilities before I go on holiday. surprisingly the GP was able to access my results on the hospital system even though they weren't back at the surgery. She said it looks likely it is the peri menopause. She also said my cholesterol and glucose were high so has retested them. the results will be back Friday, we go away Sunday/Monday. She actually listened which made such a difference and printed some sheets on the menopause off for me.

OH has decided he now wants to decorate the dinning room which does need doing - he has only been off work for 6 months. off to look for cheap paint... will catch up later

I saw a full trolley in my local Asda last night but there was no guidelines what to put in. I know it is for families so would a pack of tuna and some baked beans be ok. this has shocked me a little as I realise how close this is now.
  • JULIETTET I would think that anything you are considerate enough to donate would be received with thanks , that anyone in need would not only be thankful for the food but the goodness of heart of the people donating, put in whatever you feel is appropriate pet , I'm sure it will be OK, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Had a quiet morning as still sneezing and coughing and was very sick last night so keeping to liquids for most of today. DH came home from driving practice with youngest saying "I have done a really stupid thing" and looking upset. After two months of a courtesy car after someone drove into the back of us which takes petrol, he had filled our own original diesel car up - with petrol

Car is now in garage being drained or whatever it is they need to do and he is very annoyed with himself but cheered up a little when I pointed out the lack of concentration for a few moments of the driver who hit us has caused a couple of months of worry and inconvenience so what happened is an extension of that and not really his fault .

Phone just rang and it is another blasted fishing expedition of a call saying had we had a car accident. We now get several calls a day from different places and getting fed up with it. We can't ban numbers because we are waiting to hear from hospital, G.Ps etc and DDs sometimes call from work.

Cleared up kitchen and going to try to put feet up and snooze between the coughing and sneezing. determined to feel better by Friday as well have a houseful of eight then and I want to be able to cook their favourites and enjoy the company.

Hugs to all who could use one (minding out for germs);)

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and good wishes :)

I had to wait 25 minutes past my appointment time which didn't help matters, but I bit the bullet and told her about not coping and how I was feeling. I also sobbed a lot, but I think that was going to be a given. According to the test she gave me I'm suffering more with anxiety at the moment rather than depression, but I know that with me one leads to the other. So I have 20mg Citalopram to take once a day. I've also got an appointment with the practice therapist for 18th September as that was the first appointment they had. I'm still feeling weak and stupid and stressed but at least I have taken the first step.

Now I need to pop fancy dress making stuff round my friends and to have another cup of tea or three.

    Thank you again xxxxxxxxx

Hi all. Sorry I've been AWOL again. :o I seem to have been working, sleeping, procrastinating, sorting and cleaning-and not as much sleeping as I'd like. :(

Sorted out freezers the other day.
There's a load of washing on the go and 3 more to go in.

I was always under the impression that each & every food bank is different to one in a neighbouring town, the only common denominators are that you need to be referred and they need donations of food, time and money to provide that vital & worthy service.
