  • Hello to you all.
Kidkat I'm so sorry to hear bout the problems with your son :(and I also hope your back eases soon. I have a friend who provides respite for families with autistic children and I know she quite often gets beaten up. She will not change jobs though as says it can be so rewarding. I wish you all the best.:):)

Well today has shown that it only takes little things to really cheer me up. Went to do my shift in the church's charity shop and found a new pair of curtains for my bedroom (lined as well) for £3.50. :j:j:j Am so pleased as my current curtains have definitely seen better days. We are just a small shop and our prices are much lower than some of the national charities. And we volunteers enjoy being there as well. So win-win. Unfortunately my legs do not approve and are making me suffer for it.:eek:

Its about time I started thinking about food so will wish you all well for now.

Fetched Rosie and she is still quite dopey,so on her bed n the garden sleeping. It will take a good 24 hours for the anaesthetic to go out of her system, as I know from the past.
I am sooo relieved to have her home, and the bit they took out of her ear was over an inch long with barbs, poor sweetie.
Thanks for your concern all. Will now get back to living out of the cupboards, freezer and the garden!

    :) Evening all.

Well done on your curtains, AOT, sounds like a fantastic charity shop. I made a fast pasage down Chazzer Street near mine, meeting and greeting some of my fave volunteers and having a look at some clothes.

Didn't find anything to rival the lovely top I got on Sunday. though. I'm on the lookout for tunic-length tops to even out my gangling proportions but they are few and far between.

Still, there wouldn't be the thrill of the chase if it was easy, would there?

Stuck gold at the Magic Greengrocer where one fine english pound got me 18 small apples, 8 oranges, 3 large tommies on the vine, a red onion and a head of celery. All slightly-bruised and imperfect, hence the mark-down, but I can live with that. Two secs' work with a veggie knife and the bruised bit is in the compost caddy and it's all good.

Compare and contrast two of my unemployed and impoverished neighbours who spend all their time and all their money dahn the pub and then whinge about being hard-up.

SuperGran and I have just been chatting on the phone. Her fridge is terminally ill and I will help her find a new one. She can't walk v.far atm (arthritus is bad) so I said I'd scan around up the city after work for a chazzer which does appliances to see if they have anything, and then she can come to mine and we can research likely new ones on the interwebs before she takes a cab up to look at them.

Letting your fingers do the walking.......(very old TV ad for Yeller Pages for the youngsters out there ;)).

Been talking to my Nan (90 years young) this evening and am planning to see her on the Bank Holiday, maybe at the parents' place, maybe at her's, in which case I can have at a flowerbed which is bugging her. She keeps a fine garden and it annoys her that she's too frail to work it herself any more.

Although, as I reminded her, better to have all your marbles and be dodgy on your pins than the other way around, and she agreed.

  • Evening all, GRANDMASAM poor Rosie dog, that would have been so uncomfortable for her, glad the visit to the vet has removed the foreign object and hope she feels much more herself tomorrow. KIDCAT I hope very much that your injured back improves very quickly, such a difficult thing to have to deal with on a daily basis never knowing what will be thrown your way next and loving them as you do, I am full of admiration for your fortitude and the dedication with which you always try to secure the best for them, you are truly a wonderful Mother and a very admirable example to us all, you have my total respect for being the person that you are!!!

I am having the loveliest time here with my lovely daughter and enjoying the concerts immensely. Last night was Wagners Tanhauser and some beautiful Verdi, today we have had off and have been to the cinema and tomorrow will be some Motzart and the Beethovens 9th, brilliant stuff. Pushkin kitten is rapidly becoming Pushkin cat and now weighs 3 kilos, he is a gentle giant and so much fun to be with, such a poppet, he is also a champion fly catcher, very balletic and can jump 4 feet high from a standing start, he is beautiful, look after yourselves, Cheers Lyn and Pushkin xxx.

Evening toughies - thank you for all your kind thoughts, my back is still sore but not as bad as yesterday thankfully, I have some rather colourful bruises up my arms though :)

We ventured to a National Trust place today - but after yesterday I didnt make the necessary prep just in case we didnt go, and that meant that DS9 had a huge meltdown while we were there, took us an hour to get him in the car and another hour to get him into his seat, OH had to travel sitting on the floor next to him to prevent him getting back out, he has smashed his glasses again and damaged the car.

We arrived home and it took me an hour to get him out of the car and when he did finally emerge it was the cat that persuaded him to move not me! He then took himself onto the sofa pulled a blanket over and slept for two hours.

Clearly I have made some huge errors this week and need to re-group tomorrow, rethink and replan before attempting anything else :)

GQ - in our town the heart foundation and the PDSA both sell appliances, and there is also a scheme in the neighbouring town, which takes in appliances that people are getting rid of, then they train people to refurb them, sell them on cheaply and with a warranty - it may be worth a look to see if your town does something similar

I don't think you did make huge errors - you did the best you could and sometimes "stuff" happens. Hindsight is always perfect but not a help afterwards.

Please don't blame yourself for everything. If you get some ideas of what to do or not to do in future then great - but things, people and situations change and to some extent we need to try to change too if we can. I am not suggesting a guilt trip but does DS have any idea of how much hurt and harm he has caused even if he did not mean to do so?

Hope the bruises (physical and otherwise) improve.

elona thank you, yes both boys are aware of what they have done, and after a full debrief with two of my support group mums we have managed to pin point the moment it went wrong - and it wasnt really me thank goodness, :) we went into the trust house and were bombarded with staff trying to take coats, bags, hats, offering quizzes etc, it was a very small dark area and it was overwhelming, it made DS9 try to run, OH pulled him back and he began shouting, the trust staff then told him off.

In hindsight that was the issue - the overwhelming at the beginning - I should have walked back out at that point but missed it, which was an error but the real issue was the arrival and staff bombarding us, which makes me feel better.

Its thrown him off at that point, which means I need to be more careful to check how these places operate - have never been to another trust place that does that to be honest, and next time if need be walk away :)

Life is full of lessons to be learnt, and with each step forward new worlds open to us :)
