SQ: another option is to do a SM shop and get it delivered by their Home Delivery Service. The local C**p here will do that and if you explain that you want it delivered anonymously they will make sure that is the case. Don't know about other SMs.
I agree with FairyP that a few treats would be nice. I find when dealing with our food bank that I could fill a swimming pool with all the pasta we are donated. Much nicer is to find Pasta sauces, tinned meat and fish, tinned fruit, jams, cheese spreads, biscuits, breakfast cereals, toilet rolls, toothpaste and the usual staples of tea, coffee and sugar. Just a few ideas.
Sunshine: lots of love and hugs, it always seems worse to be suffering in this hot weather when people are in a holiday mood. I do hope that something can be sorted out for you soon, it seems that this has gone on long enough. x
Re: the DM article. The Council Tax debate will never end. I think that dronid's idea is fair. I have had experience of being very poor and living in a very wealthy area. I think my neighbours thought that the fact I bought my clothes from jumble sales,(no charity shops then), cooked everything from scratch and didn't run a car was one of 'Joy's funny little ways." As they swanned around in their big company cars and their wives drove the 'family BMW' or whatever, and kindly offered my boys a lift to Cubs I'm sure they thought that my not running any sort of car was me being environmentally friendly. If only! Council Tax was almost the last straw for me, but I didn't want to uproot my children from the house they had grown up in when everything else in their lives had changed radically. A bit more on income tax seems quite fair to me.
Right. We've had our wedding and it was spectacularly beautiful. The groom's father turns out to be a painter and as a thank you for all the effort we put in to making the wedding so special he has offered to come and paint the front doors of the church (4 huge ones) inside and out completely free of charge. What a nice man. Also a first, the bride came back into the church before she left for the reception to thank all the stewards for making everyone so welcome and getting things running so smoothly. Almost restores one's faith in human nature.
I think everyone was melting in the heat. We did our best with the fans and although it is a BIG church, 150 bodies added to the prevailing temperature was not comfortable.

princess - your link has really made me think and I actually think she should pay, she has way more in the bank than alot of people earn in a year and they all pay their bills, I am trying to imagine where we would be if everyone said the same.
I appreciate she is saving for house repairs - but its five years old - surely its warrantied for ten years?0 -
Princess: WOW! A spa in a paddling pool. What a lovely idea - and what a treat for the neighbours. But how extraordinarily kind of your YB to have thought of it. He will make a wonderful husband when the time comes.

SUNSHINE 4 - Hi Denise, I'm sorry to hear of your health problems after all the other difficult things life has thrown your way over the last 12 months. I hope very much that your visit to the hospital next week will give you the help you need to regain your health. Treatments have improved so very much over the past few years, I hope they can find what it takes to control the condition and give you a normal life again, thinking of you, Love Lyn xxx.0

Monnogran, having just got back from DS's Leavers' Mass where I virtually melted in the church (no fans and no opening windows!), I can sympathise!0

If any one wants some Kelp tablets for the price of postage then please pm me. I started them a few days back but have had the worst intestinal cramps with them (one of the side effects listed) so have stopped them. So a practically full bottle up for grabs.
My kitchen is still registering 28 degrees, it's daft.
When deciding who to give your kelp to , leave me out because im in a position where I can afford to buy them , probaly a bit more than some other posters, im not flushed with dosh but I can get my own , but very many thanks to you for asking me...:T............Such a shame you cant get on with them, ive never felt so good, its like someone has given me a miracle , I just hope it continues.....................:D
Hot hot hot again , but very nice too........I did go to the beach at 6.30 this morn, poor little rosie cant handle the heat so she only goes out once aday while its so hot, it was so lovely down there this morning I could have kept on walking, so peaceful, waves hardly moving, only a handful of people about , best time of day........
SUNSHINE......I hope the doctors get to the bottom of your health problems , maybe its something like lupus, because thats a immune problem...Please keep us informed, in the meantime keep relaxing under the shade............Sheila0 -
Sunshine sorry I just realised I had missed your post - I know it must be worrying but you seem to have a very good attitude about it. I hope they can find what's wrong quickly so they can get you on the right treatment.0

Sunshine I'm sorry to read that. I like your attitude very much. I wish for you a speedy process in finding the right treatment for you.
Lyn when will you get Docky's biopsy results?
Possession did you shed a tear?
Monnagran, what a lovely chapso pleased he is going to do it as I envisaged you up the ladders with your paint brush!
You know when you dream of being a SAHM and you think of all the school events you can attend? Not least sports day. I went to littleDD's sports day today and hated every minute of it in the hot hot sun but I'm not moaning as I'm poorly. Sore throat and achey/shivery (explain in terms of shivering in 28 degree heat.
Anyway bigDD's sports day tomorrow and set for 22 degrees so hoping to enjoy it, although she's a competitive little might and won't let her diddy size hold her back.
Oh, and our Durham accent? DD has decided she wants to fit in with folk 50 minute south. Funny listening to her correct her dulcet tones into something more 'refined'0 -
Hello Everyone,
Can't decide if I like this hot weather...then again I'll be complaining when Winter arrives.I'm wilting...eating simple meals and doing v little. Windows are open, curtains and blinds closed and still its around 90f indoors. I can see the nights drawing in already which is sad...
I see there are holidays for some here, enjoy, I hope the weather is kind...warm but not exhausting. Good luck with the sports days Fuddle its awful to feel unwell in this heat.
Think I'm at an event in the grounds of Raby Castle on Sunday. I was at the Durham Miner's Gala on Saturday and though I used factor 50 suncream and had a hat I still caught the sun a little so I'll be slapping it on even more this weekend.
Did I say(may be of interest to anyone living in this area)starts tomorrow night runs until Sunday an event with a 1940's theme and a replica spitfire. This is in Sedgefield.
There are lot of free events happening around the area during the school holidays, many in some lovely parks, hoping to visit some myself. I am on a day trip to bridlington next week, never been there before.
Was at the hospital for my check up today, generally things are ok considering what I have...discovered similar illness has been dealt with differently elsewhere and results/treatment has not been as successful as my own so fortunate to be located here and to have had the consultant I have had for the past 17 years.
I'm saying I am doing little but have been catching up on washing, need to do more because you get sweaty(well I do)and I am getting rid of rubbish for tomorrows wheelie bin collection."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
